"I had no idea there would be so many guns. I'm really against the using of guns". *Sees paycheck* 'Well guns aren't thaat baaad if they are used against aliens". *smiles all the way to the bank*
Oh no inanimate objects how fucking terrible lol Its like the idea that violence in and of itself is bad, no totally depends on context, same with firearms they are used far more in defensive and or morally justifiable situations than in crime, be that police, military and especially civilians, unless you live in a police state like me then you're shit out of luck lol
That last comment is spot on man. I think it was Dali who said it too?.....once you become a seasoned artist, you find that you can't draw like a kid anymore. It's the same here. New artists who try to survive are the "kids in kindergarden" armed only with their passion to "draw" something good. When they grow up and get more experienced, they find that whatever they do, they will never be able to draw the same way as back then. Key word: Passion! Keep it up man. Beautiful videos.
Went back and re-watched Aliens Director's cut the other day - And every part of the movie was spot on - characters, sets, plot, atmosphere, story, lore, everything!
Great channel. To your point of this universe's characters encountering intelligent life previously, when the Nostromo gets the distress signal in Alien, Ripley asks "is it human?" non-chalantly recognizing there's another option.
the grapple gun used to blow the alien out of the door in Alien is on the floor trapped by the door in the opening scenes of Aliens. Amazing attention to continuity detail
When Hudson said: "Bug Hunt", I always assumed it was just a catch all phrase for enemies and the type of fighting they were going to be doing, not that it was actual "Bug like Aliens" he was referring to. I guess it could go either way.
Hey Bandit - great discussion of a great movie! Just one caveat: you were actually reviewing the "Special Edition" of the film and not the original theatrical cut of the film. The original cut of the film did NOT include that hallway shootout with the automated guns nor the scene explaining that Ripley's daughter had long since passed away before she was found - that latter missing was actually cited in Roger Ebert's original review of the film where he criticized the film for completely ignoring any questions Ripley would have had about people from her past....apparently Cameron and Weaver agreed and wanted that scene in the theatrical cut. Regardless, this film like Wrath of Khan has now had decades of continuous airings on cable where previously cut scenes would now be added to increase the run-time so most of the viewing public has probably seen these cut scenes as well....
The thing about the "commander" using intelligent language to show that he's over everyone else...he's an officer. Assuming the Colonial Marines use rank structure similarly to the real life USMC, he's likely a 1stLT (O-2), which means he takes a commanding role. He strategizes and manages the platoon from a managerial standpoint, whereas the sergeant is the one who puts the orders and plans into action. "Grunts" being enlisted folk often have more time in the military, as well as more hands-on experience. A sense of arrogance can be interpreted, but the senior-most enlisted keeps everyone in line and takes orders from the officer in charge.
The problem with the Acturians is...if they are also a spacefaring species, wouldn't they have come across something like the Engineers/Space Jockeys or the Predators and thus have informed humanity of them? The entire idea of Alien is that mankind is alone in space and yet they have a friend there now. Kinda takes away from the drama there
Gorvar The Dinoman not really...lovecraftian storytelling often treats aliens the same as us...we and the arcurian are just as worthless in the cosmic horror genre
I see your point dude however the Xenomorphs or the Predators or the Engineers/Space Jockeys are not on the same level as the Elder Gods. If anything the Preds take a notice of us because we are worthy prey, the Xenos need us to reproduce and the Engineers created us. The Arcturians are also a alien species which I assume share the same tech level as the Preds and perhaps the Engineers and they are allies of humanity. If anything its more optimistic than Lovecraft because there is at least one friendly 'Elder God' in there instead of all Elder Gods who hates or don't care about humanity. Also unlike Lovecraft, humanity can fight back in this franchise against the Alien and drive it away instead of putting more time on the clock being the best case scenario.
Agreed, that should've been left out. Since it has never been referenced again I assume they wish they hadn't. We should all just pretend that didn't happen, much like any Terminator movie that isn't the first two.
Thank you for pointing out why Sigourney Weaver was so perfect for these films. Women don't think there are strong female heroes in films, so they create these artificial looking 'bad gurls'. But all the while they had Ripley, who is such a strong, natural woman. Her courage doesnt feel forced either, she is vulnerable as well, she's just determined to survive and more importantly to honor her maternal instincts in the second film. I've always admired her character, and even had a bit of a crush on her from childhood.
Burke actually doesn't die in that scene the alien actually cocoons him and Ripley encounters him in the hive. When he begs for help she gives him a grenade and walks away. He then kills himself so the alien wouldn't burst out of him
Little unknown fact (or maybe known....), the Bishop knife scene is a copy of a similar scene in Carpenter's 1974 film "Dark Star" The character there can't realy handle it and ends up hurting his finger a bit.
I always wondered why the colony didn't report the discovery of the facehugger strait away. That's a big discovery. Maybe they did but the company lied and said they "lost contact".
Tbh i think they didnt know where the ship was due to alien isolation confirming the beacon had been shut off, and the best way to get an infestation going was to have colonists set up shop on the planet. So when one of them stumbled across the eggs they'd all be doomed to be hosts. But then Ripley pops up, giving them the coordinates with her flight recorder, and Burke sends someone to look for the sake of capturing a specimen. Even Aliens colonial marines supports this, having a radio where Burke was reportedly trying to get specimens the whole time, preferable in Ripley so they would have one loose end to worry about.
Im new to the channel. Enjoyed this vid so much as Aliens is very much in my top 5 favourite films of all time. You did a great review but I feel like you missed mentioning the sort of impact this particular film has had on popular culture and the other works it has impacted. Halo and Starship Troopers comes to mind but there are certainly a lot more.
i feel like once you've made your masterpiece, it's always a struggle to top yourself. Once you've made aliens, of course everything else you make can never live up to it.
South Koreans actually built Cameron's suit from Avatar or ED 209? That is freaking awesome. I've always wondered why technology hasn't actually caught up with Cameron's power loader. It is sooo cool and practical.
I think the quarantine procedure from the first film is just a standing protocol in the event of the discovery of alien life. Or perhaps they had only ever found bacteria and other microscopic life previously
In those 57 years, I feel like Weyland-Yutani kind of lost hope of getting the specimen. And then anyone who were originally interested in the alien died out. Burke was hot for the creatures after hearing Ripley's story
Funny hearing Weaver crying about the guns in the movie, then Bill Paxton saying that's the best part of his job. If you watch the rest of that interview, Weaver admits she loved shooting the guns. Her saying she had no idea there was going to be so many guns is just her virtue signaling since she is such a anti-rights activist.
I will say that bit in Alien where they talk about letting people into the ship with ab organism can be explained away without saying they have met life. Simply because we did it on our way too the moon and we are a tad worried of microbes on mars even thou we as a species had never met them. Doesnt mean they haven't just thought I'd share.
If they did include the old characters in Alien 5, if it even happens, they could digitally map the actors' faces onto new actors the way they did in Terminator Genysis and in Star Wars: Rogue One.
Incredible movie. People often say it's inferior to the original because it's action packed but and seems less arty but I disagree, Aliens is very sophisticated in many ways in the way. The way it develops the character of Ripley was clever and this is the why the movies after Aliens failed. Aliens was a story of empowerment and in contrast to the bleak helplessness of Alien. Simply brilliant sequel, one of the best of all time.
a biologist saying xenomorph is like doctor saying idiopathic symptom: its professional way of saying you have no idea what's going on. There are few xenomorphs in earth, and if/when mankind finds alien life, the scientists are going to write it as"xenomorph of extraterrestial origin" in the study. That's why aliens are called xenomorphs.
I think you have to re-read that description: "Aliens is one of James Cameron's best movies. There's not too many films that can surpass an iconic original, but I think Aliens does.
Out of curiosity, what's your thoughts on the contrarians who actually don't like this film? Specifically their grievances it was a Vietnam War film in the guise of an alien film and also lacking the thriller aspects that were prominent in the original?
10:30 is NOT an Evil corporation ..that was the point of Alien 3 .. as long as the Alien creature exist some one is going to try to get to it.. its humanity's nature to search for knowledge, conquer nature and do awful thing while open dangerous door in the name of progress that why the film makes a parallel between golic (the insane inmate) and the creator of bishop
Love this review, but I disagree one thing. The part where the auto guns are shooting wave after wave of aliens, and we (the audience) only see the numbers counting down... yes, it was the best James Cameron could do with only 6 alien suits, and it was the most effective thing he could do under those limitations. But it still doesn't quite work for me. When I first saw it, and when I recently showed it to someone who has never seen the movie before, we both thought that the guns were shooting at nothing. Maybe the aliens tricked the guns into shooting, maybe someone sabotaged the guns to waste ammo, maybe it was a malfunction... it's a weird scene because we don't see any carnage. There is, at one point, one alien shown exploding, but until that moment, it is a confusing scene. But again, under the circumstances, I would have done the same thing, there was no better option. Cheers.
I never liked that concept art for Hicks cuz not that much of his head was melted by the acid. Watch aliens again and see it for yourself. Cool review btw tho. 👍
I get the feeling that humanity in this universe has encountered a lot of animal extraterrestrial life, but nothing as efficient and brutal as the Xenomorphs. Arcturans might be an exception, but I'd like to think they're just a very old human colony who have diverged into a distinct ethnic category, along with developing their own culture that presumably has some flimsy gender divisions. I'd really rather the Aliens universe be devoid of intelligent life beyond humans, it makes space feel a lot lonelier and colder, which is fitting for the franchise.
Burke=Modern Corporate Gofor; any of you would do the exact same thing in his place to get rich, mountain vest flannel shirt n all he can sell someone their own used vacuum lol
I think George Miller would be one of the few examples of film directors who are able to top their early work late in their career. He did this by being more 'pure' and singular of intent in fury road, this seemed to mimic that 'hungry' attitude you mention
The whole "Arcturian poontang" biznizz makes me think of Sex Lives Of The Potato Men, when Mackenzie Crook says to Johnny Vegas, "Would you shag a Martian then?" and Johnny replies, "Might as well, I can't remember the last time I shagged a human being".
Just a suggestion Bandit, if you don't do the Biggest Mistakes video in the end, maybe just tell us briefly on Twitter of Facebook or in the Movie Mania Podcast. I think people would still be eager to hear about these three mistakes even if they're not that big of a deal.
You are getting better at making videos, I have no doubt with that, but I still think confessing, evaluating and reflecting on mistakes is worth a video, even if it's just 3, I don't think people care, and it's also good in the sense that it shows people that you're getting better.
I wished that you would have mentioned how this movie totally derails once she gets in the egg chamber. You come face to face with the biggest, nastiest alien so far who you see laying the eggs and what does she do; wastes almost an entire clip of ammo, all of her grenades, and a flamethrower on just the eggs and not on the Queen herself. It makes no sense whatsoever.
why does everyone dislike yer one, maybe it's just because jack black is my fav actor, but i loved the movie I've watched it about 10 times, and it's still crack up
@15:10 You're wrong - current space programs already have much stricter quarantine laws for anyone returning from anyone body in our own solar system. That's probably because microbes would be much much worse than any Xenomorph once back on earth. C'mon - I keep finding these holes in your reasoning.
ummm....okay First great video, however, and please not trying to ruffle feathers here because you've got a ton of awesome points and information here, BUT you got several things very wrong. You need to go back, and watch the making of Aliens again. You just mixed up some things and misrepresented other parts. Again not trying to be snarky at all just wanted you to maybe revisit this. You'll catch what was off kilter right away because like I said before you have a great video here! You'll also note I'm not going through listing these mistakes - I did it for a reason because I know you'll catch it on your own because you're an awesome reviewer! I love all the points you've brought up like about "bug hunt" and Alien3 - while a good movie, really wish they would have taken a different direction but lots of studio crap plus fact at time Sigourney Weaver said she'd only do it if Ripley died. Hoping Alien 5 happens and it will pick up where Aliens left off! okay apologies again I meant nothing negative by my feedback! Lady Anne ^^ö^^
when I first heard about the fact that Sigourney weaver was anti gun it made some sense why the third movie had none but here having no clue that aliens would have them I mean come on lol did someone leave out the Marines in space part of the pitch to her lol still one of my faves from the 80's when less was more sometimes it's cool not to see the monster and let suspense build cgi has its uses but they rely heavily on it now practical effects give a more realistic fell rather than added in post prouction and all that the actors have are cues or a tennis ball or a stand in I think some of the art of cinema has been lost to the digital age it's given a lot to films but you can go to far
17:45 I slow down the scene and took a look at it. It's actually the Queen pulling off Ripley's shoe as she/it goes out the airlock.
The Queen really must've wanted a pair of Reebok's haha
"I had no idea there would be so many guns. I'm really against the using of guns".
*Sees paycheck*

Keep it up man. Beautiful videos.
Best sequel of all time, hands down.
Jalen Lionheart hmmm...empire strikes back
I miss 80s movies. That was like the golden age for action and horror movies. I like these kind of review. Keep it up.
I was just watching this the other day, such a fantastic movie.
I know right? Its the best
A master piece of a movie
Get away from her you bitch is one of the best movie lines EVER!
Harry Thomas Pictures look man, all i need to know is where they are
Went back and re-watched Aliens Director's cut the other day - And every part of the movie was spot on - characters, sets, plot, atmosphere, story, lore, everything!
Great channel. To your point of this universe's characters encountering intelligent life previously, when the Nostromo gets the distress signal in Alien, Ripley asks "is it human?" non-chalantly recognizing there's another option.
Your channel is better than TV.
Aitor Molina That is not as much of a compliment as you think :)
Rick & Morty disagree. But just Rick & Morty.
His channel is definitely much better than TV! If only there were mores videos...
One video like this every week plus the short extras are actually an amazing feat.
Aitor Molina tv is dead
the grapple gun used to blow the alien out of the door in Alien is on the floor trapped by the door in the opening scenes of Aliens. Amazing attention to continuity detail

Good Mega Review as always Bandit!

Just been listening back on your Jurassic park\world mega reviews. Love what you do. Happy new year.
Seen Alien and Aliens more times than I can count and never picked up on the Arcturians or the reference to insect species. Blown my tiny mind!

What blows me away is just how absolutely incredible this movie is. There is nothing like it, and nothing has been like it since.
Weaver's statement about the guns in this movie was just ridiculous .. Great movie and nice review
Thank you for pointing out why Sigourney Weaver was so perfect for these films. Women don't think there are strong female heroes in films, so they create these artificial looking 'bad gurls'. It was actually the queen tearing Ripley's shoe off but in the "How it should have ended" version by Hishe she does have her arm tear off 😂
Tbh i think they didnt know where the ship was due to alien isolation confirming the beacon had been shut off, and the best way to get an infestation going was to have colonists set up shop on the planet. Talking about different alien species in this universe, according to one of the EU novels they also found life on Europa (microbial).
Hey Bandit, can you do a 'Who Really Won The Fight' for the Iron Man vs Rhodes party scene in Iron 2?
PS Another one bites the dust
BanditIncorporated you should do a review of avp
so what you think about Alien 3 personally I think it's really underrated
I like the director's cut
i feel like once you've made your masterpiece, it's always a struggle to top yourself. Once you've made aliens, of course everything else you make can never live up to it.
I agree about the pulse rifle sound though...
South Koreans actually built Cameron's suit from Avatar or ED 209? That is freaking awesome. I've always wondered why technology hasn't actually caught up with Cameron's power loader. It is sooo cool and practical.

RIP Bill Paxton. You are with us forever as Pvt. Hudson.
In those 57 years, I feel like Weyland-Yutani kind of lost hope of getting the specimen. And then anyone who were originally interested in the alien died out. Burke was hot for the creatures after hearing Ripley's story

Fun Fact: The 'Phase Plasma Pulse Rifle' became a DLC weapon in Aliens: Colonial Marines
It's not Camerons to blame, elevators are vicious creatures, that's 'bout it.
A friend of mine was with someone who had a bad acid trip. When he started freaking out on 10 hits, he said
"Game over, game over, man. Game over..."
If they did include the old characters in Alien 5, if it even happens, they could digitally map the actors' faces onto new actors the way they did in Terminator Genysis and in Star Wars: Rogue One.
You know I never legit saw James Cameron's obsession with elevators before but good eye man.
Was that a screenshot from xenopedia? That's awesome!!! I check out the site all the time
Great video. By the way there's also an elevator scene in Cameron's "Titanic"
Just rewatched it, what an amazing movie
Incredible movie. People often say it's inferior to the original because it's action packed but and seems less arty but I disagree, Aliens is very sophisticated in many ways in the way. The way it develops the character of Ripley was clever and this is the why the movies after Aliens failed. Aliens was a story of empowerment and in contrast to the bleak helplessness of Alien. Simply brilliant sequel, one of the best of all time.
8:12 ED-209 is RoboCop right?
Awesome review and now i have to watch this masterpiece again@
a biologist saying xenomorph is like doctor saying idiopathic symptom: its professional way of saying you have no idea what's going on. Let's start a debate ALIEN or ALIENS?
Batman.
Joe Worpole I *love* Aliens but Alien is my favorite.
Dean Strickson same aliens is great especially the chemistry between the marines but alien just has the edge with amazing tension and direction.
Joe Worpole I love Aliens more, my dad loves Alien, we argue all the time about this lol
Joe Worpole that's like picking between cake and cookies
I like how the official name for the Alien basically means "Fuck if I know, it's definitely something."
Love this movie. Great job bandit
Thanks for the video. It was awesome. Loved it.
1. Aliens
2. Alien
3. Alien: Covenant (My Inner gut feeling)
4. Alien 3
5. Prometheus
4. Alien: resurrection
Love your reviews! So if they knew about Aucturians then why did they seem amazed about other alien life I wonder?
I think you have to re-read that description: "Aliens is one of James Cameron's best movies. There's not too many films that can surpass an iconic original, but I think Aliens does.
Great video :)

Can you do a mega review of Eraserhead?
Bill Paxton...Rest In Peace.
you are awesome . huge fan .great reviews . Keep on making Good content there dude .
btw , is your profile pic a cat or a wolf ???
Love this review, but I disagree one thing. love the vids keep it up 😀
I get the feeling that humanity in this universe has encountered a lot of animal extraterrestrial life, but nothing as efficient and brutal as the Xenomorphs. this vid deserves more likes
8:14 that's more like an AMP from the film Avatar.
my little brother just watched it yesterday for the fist time, he loved it.
2:01 there's something odd about that soldier.
Burke=Modern Corporate Gofor; any of you would do the exact same thing in his place to get rich, mountain vest flannel shirt n all he can sell someone their own used vacuum lol
Great video!
The First movie for me is a 5 out 5 movie and the sequel is for me a 4 out of 5 movie.
I think George Miller would be one of the few examples of film directors who are able to top their early work late in their career. He did this by being more 'pure' and singular of intent in fury road, this seemed to mimic that 'hungry' attitude you mention
Can we at least all agree that Bill Paxton was super hot in that movie? I mean he's gross now, but not in that.
Talk about bad timing....right before he died. Paxton is a legend.
No, he was hot from beginning to end. And a fantastic, versatile actor! Sorely missed :(
He died because he saw that comment.
Ridley Scott and Clint Eastwood are the exceptions, they really defy time
The whole "Arcturian poontang" biznizz makes me think of Sex Lives Of The Potato Men, when Mackenzie Crook says to Johnny Vegas, "Would you shag a Martian then?" and Johnny replies, "Might as well, I can't remember the last time I shagged a human being".
The question are there predators in the alien universe is yes because of alien vs predator movie explains it.
Where is "top 10 mistakes of 2016" video? It's already 6 days after 2016. When is it coming?
I only have 3 mistakes, and theyre not that big of a deal. Maybe I'm getting better at making vids haha. Is 3 worth doing a vid for?
Just a suggestion Bandit, if you don't do the Biggest Mistakes video in the end, maybe just tell us briefly on Twitter of Facebook or in the Movie Mania Podcast. I think people would still be eager to hear about these three mistakes even if they're not that big of a deal.

One of those elevator clips isn't an elevator though ;)
RIP Bill Paxton :(
ummm....okay First great video, however, and please not trying to ruffle feathers here because you've got a ton of awesome points and information here, BUT you got several things very wrong.
No Titanic elevator scene?
You should do a Terminator 2 mega review.
How could you not remember the actress name?(Emma Stone)
I think Sigourney looks stunning
when I first heard about the fact that Sigourney weaver was anti gun it made some sense why the third movie had none but here having no clue that aliens would have them I mean come on lol did someone leave out the Marines in space part of the pitch to her lol still one of my faves from the 80's when less was more sometimes it's cool not to see the monster and let suspense build cgi has its uses but they rely heavily on it now practical effects give a more realistic fell rather than added in post prouction and all that the actors have are cues or a tennis ball or a stand in I think some of the art of cinema has been lost to the digital age it's given a lot to films but you can go to far
I would say that George Miller is still hungry after the last Mad Max film.
