TEEY LOVE The cod community is toxic. Its all little kids screaming into their mics and raging every time they get killed. You must be very delusional to not see this, unless you are one of those kids.
Wait so Adam's Idea for a great Battlefield singleplayer is just doing the Multiplayer maps with a bunch of bots? Why not just cut out a singleplayer altogether and have it only be a Multiplayer game at that point. Honestly the only way to give a FPS a meaningful singleplayer these days is to make it like Farcry and have some rpg elements. Cinematic linear hallway campaigns are just boring and will always just be a sideshow for the Online component.
IAmTheGreatBenjie I didn't play Wolfenstein and really I think Half-Life is kind of a overrated tech demo of it's time. Besides those are games that don't try and play both fields. Half-Life came out a long time ago, by TODAYS standards hallway shooters mostly don't cut it. And neither of those games have the online focus that COD and Battlefield have. It gets to the point that a developer should just decide what kind of game they want and stop trying to shoe-horn multiplayer or shoe horn singleplayer. Especially if your game comes out every single year. Rockstar for example spent like 5 years? On GTA5 and was able to do both, but EA and Activision will never invest that time into their games.
I appreciate these podcasts so much. I enjoy getting to also hear about your family stories and how you were all raised. Mainly because it gets a better perspective on who you are and why you think the way you do. Keep up the good work of sharing personal stuff while mixing it in with all the jokes because although I watch all your videos the podcasts are some of my favorite videos because we as a community get to see a little more of who you are and hear your serious opinions rather then you just making jokes all the time. The jokes are great and your videos great but I personally enjoy hearing the serious stuff once a week.
21:00 Adam pretty much described the Flash Game Age of War but in first-person and multiplayer. If you don't know what I'm talking about just look up "Age of War" and it's a simple strategy game from 7 years ago. Lot of fun back in middle school.
If anyone is wondering, the soundtrack to that marvellous game is "Glorious Morning" by waterflame89. He also made a sequel music piece which is good enough but much better if you have fond memories of Age of War. ***** Age of War 2 was not bad, but it was off because of so many new things in a game.
The thing about CoD is that people think that it wont be a success because it's essentially gaming's biggest joke. But lets face it Call of Duty is like an action movie franchise and the only reason they keep making them is because people keep buying them. Hate on it all you want, write as much shit as you can in a comment on a trailer it still won't do shit to stop those companies making a shit ton of money.
Axel Quatripolar Call of Duty may be overhyped, played exclusively by annoying children and released every year but they're by no means bad games. They work fine, no crashing, no bugs no shit like that. People don't understand the difference.
Dr. Gerald Ya Ya the main problem is when companies like IGN say: a 10/10 game when maybe is only a 6 or 7/10 really. Are not bad but are just regular games like EA SPORTS...the same game every year
I just wanna say that I found this episode of Dude Soup way more enjoyable with just 4 people; otherwise too many people trying to have their say just tends to get very shouty and difficult to enjoy. Thank you!
Why not try making COD more realistic, and focus on quality over quantity, Instead of shooting 250 enemies every level and being able to take 20 hits why not have 25 enemies in a level, and make them clever. Force the player to use strategy. Real soldiers don't stand in the middle of the road and empty their magazine at each other.
Same thing with me. Black ops 1 was the first and last. Halo and battlefield are so much better. And when you think about it, what is cod known for? Its definitely not story, because honestly, the campaigns are just "bad guy(s) have super weapon. You must stop them." And some say multiplayer, well, battlefield has the same multiplayer, but at a larger scale. Seriously! 32 v 32. So I can't see why anyone would want any cod game, other than for zombies. (Which Isn't even in most of them.)
There's a great study that was done by mustard marketing teams in the 70's I believe or around that time. The mustard company had all of these different types of mustard but at the time American's ubiquitously all bought yellow mustard. Because yellow mustard was so loyally consumed mustard companies just always sold the same plain yellow mustard because the others just never sold by their numbers. However, when a mustard marketing team got a bunch of people together who all said they liked yellow mustard an interesting thing happened after an experiment in which they were exposed to many varieties of mustard. Many now liked brown or horseradish mustard more. What they found was people's "consumer preference" was shaped to love yellow mustard only merely because yellow mustard was so prevalent. So there's a feedback with market dominance and and perceived popularity. Because producers think something is popular they market it more, but, because something is marketed more, it becomes more popular, then producers think they like it even more and so market even more and it just feeds back into itself with a self-perpetuating narrowing trend. Long story short...consumers don't always know what they really want. They know what they think they want, which sounds presumptive, but it's only a result of the industry pushing a certain narrow kind of product on everyone. Call of Duty formula of games is the "yellow mustard" of gaming. There are definitely other varieties of mustard out there that just haven't caught on yet for the above reasons.
Hmm. Guys, in thirty years from now, I am going to tell my grandchildren about some guys on the internet that had the ability to become my best friends for an hour. I would laugh with them, share the same thoughts and love for gaming for years, and never really knowing them. Thank you.
You mentioned halo 5 and a "simplified" shooter, and all I could think about was Counter Strike. That game has mastered competitive, simple shooters. No frills, no upgrades, it's been what it is for upwards of 10 years. It's gold.
Shut the fuck up about how much you don't like zombies, because you may or may not actually like zombies. The problem is that zombies are easy and a never portrayed in a way that is creative. Basically, all other games try for story whereas in zombie games the developers could just be lazy and go "Yeah, outbreak... survive." We need a game that actually gives us zombies in a reasonable way that doesn't compromise gameplay. We have yet to find a core for such a game but let's look at another popular game that you may not like because it's popular, Minecraft. Minecraft has zombies as an enemy type, they aren't trying to make zombies the core of the game, so the zombies are just there as an enemy, specifically a melee enemy. If you use zombies as just another enemy then to optimize them you give them no story, if you want to use them as a core or element, they must have story and no one seems to understand that.
When I was a kid, my grandpa had a Sega Genesis with Mortal Kombat II on it. I'm pretty sure I never got a fatality right, but I did master all of Reptile's special moves. It was awesome.
Axel Quatripolar Guess what my black ops emblem isss, its rainbow dash :3 and my clan tag is mlp lol, I just wish they added a camo with RD's cutie mark on it like someone painted on an aa-12
Ironic that you're getting bashed by people for having an MLP avatar. Because we're all clearly much more mature than you as we watch 3 adults stare at one adult playing a video game while they talk about video games.
Okay, I'm about 7 minutes in, and I'd like to say something.. I play Black Ops 2 literally every day. That's what I upload mostly on my channel as well. The campaigns on Call of Duty are irrelevant. It's all about the multiplayer. So, if there are actually people out there that are hype for a campaign reveal or buy CoD to play the campaign.. I feel bad for you. It's probably not going to be great. LOL.
Jihf In regards to what Bruce is talking about, I don't think any CoD fan wants to see anything similar to Titanfall. There's a reason why that game died in 2 months and why CoD has been popular for almost a decade. NEXT.
Jihf The game used to have great campaigns. The point is that it's become just about the multiplayer and that's disappointing. World at War's campaign was awesome. I played that through so many times lost count. Too damn good.
I'm not saying that the CoD campaigns haven't been fun.. I'm just saying that most of the people that buy CoD care more about the multiplayer. That's a fact.
First name lastname The main reason why it's popular is because little kids cry to their parents about getting this game so they can spread cancer throughout the community.
connor temple I liked it as a whole, but I have to say the menu layout was way too similar to MW2. And the colourless filter they put over it made it dreary.
connor temple I liked mw3, it wasn't too unbalanced, however I do see that the higher lvls have a slight advantage with ACR and MP7, however that should be a given.
These comments are cancer yes, but it isn't clickbait and they said there starting to get pissed about people saying that, clickbait is when it says something and does not deliver. A title saying will a game suck? And a commentary on their opinions is not click bait
I mean they definitely discussed their opinions on whether or not they think the game will suck, therefore they delivered on the "promise" within the title. Oh and you're a fucking idiot
I still wish Sledgehammer Games would go back to their Call of Duty: Fog of War concept which would have been a dark third person shooter based during the Vietnam War. Honestly, I think that would have been so much better than Advanced Warfare. Especially from the guys behind Dead Space.
14:00 Adam's discussion on Battlefield 4 open world reminds me of Arma 3's campaign where it is open world but you spawn in a base camp and you can report in for different jobs
My dad was one of those guys that was at the arcades, day 1 launch of the MK Cabinets back in the early 90s. He was one of those table-top, 5 monitors crossed w/ Internet geeks of the 80s-90s. If you wanna interview him, he's been in prison since '96 in Tx....go right ahead. There were forums that were put up to gain hype & marketing traction for the game & my dad was a subscriber. You used to get a printable arcade moves list. That's how they knew, for the most part...& word of mouth, of course
You play through a level then at the end its like "Then we did this and it was cool! But then there's this!" - Bruce Green best description of every Call of Duty storyline ever.
I think Battlefield had their story line figured out well when they made the Bad Company Series. It had that open world feel to it, though it was a bit more linear with objectives, but if they expanded on that idea and the open world feel they could create their own identity for single player campaign.
+Funhaus my opinion of the ideal cod experience: Either go back to any of the old non modern wars and do it better, or go back to the whole idea of ghosts where u are the resistance but u never make it to a proper army militia, have the game like the squad mode but make the maps way bigger, like battle field big, and put objectives on the map that u have to accomplish to further the story line, ur not some super soldier, just some grunt doing what u gotta do. Also, enemies don't just randomly spawn, instead the more kills and chaos you cause makes more dangerous enemies enter the playing field. U can also use the same super sized map for multiplayer and zombie mode, though each mode will have its own exclusive maps
The way I want to see Call of Duty go is a story where you play as an assassin for hire. You know instead of the drab "Your a Solider shoot stuff for Murica." Maybe you're hired by America instead and they just let you do your own thing to kill a high value target someone like Spacey in AW. For the multiplayer I'd like to see that you can create one soldier to play as and you can buy equipment for your character like guns, outfits, perks etc... But I also want to see new game modes. I saw something called Search and Rescue where you basically play it but it's CTF or Dom I personally haven't played it so I cannot say for certain. And how about a real search and rescue but it'd be more of a CO OP thing. 4 go to rescue a target captured by someone and you do objectives to get to them. Kind of like a raid but not fully alike.
To address the battlefield campaign segment of this, i would like to see an open world type campaign when you are part of a squad in a large scale war and you are are given an option of doing certain objectives, but depending on the objectives you do the story will change or it might make other objective easier or more difficult
I think if Titanfall 2 featured scenarios that use lanes it would make for some seriously interesting gameplay. I really like how the story scope of WaW, Black Ops 1 and 2 has unfolded and am in general happy that Black Ops 3 will be the return to that.
The bf campaigns should be kinda like the battlefront 2 campaign. It was a big sandbox map and you had a series of objectives to complete and it actually felt like you were a small part if a bigger battle. This is something battlefield does well online, you feel like a little piece in the grander scale, but then the story puts you in a tiny squad on a kind if linear path. There are some exceptions though. I think it was bf 3 where you assault a city with a whole company or something and your in the middle of a few bigger altercations.
Didn't know James was from NC so am I! But my favorite Mortal Kombat memory was when 9 came out. My ex bf and some friends skipped class in high school and played all day. Even my dad came over after work to play 😝
If you want a fantasy/sic-fi mix, look up Warhammer 40k where sorcerers use power armor instead of robes. Some good video games for this are Dawn of War and Space Marine. It is mostly a tabletop game so the games are not that great compared to some other games of the same genre but there still fun. It awesome when your power armor clad super soldier commander charges at an Ork horde with a power sword (sword with an energy field that disrupts molecular bonds) and bolt pistol (.75cal hand gun) leading his battle brothers on death march to destroy the Necrons (Basically robot zombies).
Listening to half an hour of opinions and odd far-fetched suggestions on the direction Call of Duty should take was kinda tough. Bur listening to James nostalgically talk about his experiences with Mortal Kombat was frickin' great though. Heart warming stuff! His mom sounds like a cool lady.
I'm not much into the CoD series anymore but I hope there is a massive change in blops 3! On another note I've just realised something about the funhaus guys= Lawrence=the Stephen Hawking of the group.Bruce=that guy who jumps into bar brawls for the "craic" Irish people's slang word for fun.Adam=the guy who sits on the fence and doesn't give a crap.James=The comedian but is being serious most of the time.Spoole=Everyone's best friend.Joel, well Joel is pretty much Aladdin.
Story will either be two things: -The story will tell about how the Atlas Corporation came to be and how Johnathan Irons came to such a powerful leader. How the EXO suit was created and possibly what it originally was, an actual human implementation. -They'll be now bionic super-humans but they will somehow become a threat and be able to control just about any electronic causing world wide problems if terrorist organizations have the same implementations.
Dice really needs to bring back that "Hot-Swappaing" mechanic they had in single player back in the day. With current gen systems that would be so much fun.
About what James was saying with the AI minions: there is a game that does that. Its called commander mode and features one player that leads a squad of 5-12 ai in a multiplayer setting.
I think what Adam wants for a story is like the game airborn where you parachute into the somewhat open world map and have to do the lets say 5 objectives.
Good lord, I think I've seen Lockout 3 times, and the last two times I didn't realize I'd seen it already until the third act. Even now I couldn't tell you what happened in that movie....
I haven't play call of duty for like the last 3 titles, but I think I'm going to get this next one. I think I've taken a brake from it long enough that it'll feel good to sit down to a new call of duty game again.
I just hope they go back to make cod with the feeling of cod 1 or 2, i still remember in single player, kiling enemy have somekind of feedback, where you feel that you killed an enemy, but now in the modern one when you kill enemy it just feel plain and the game kind of say 'look more bad guys, kill em' but whenever you wiped out those bad guys you don't feel anything or get any feedback. I have an advice for Activision or the future developer of the next cod (because i'm sure there will), make cod single player with less enemy (bad guys), but tougher. Less explosion, more tension. Kind of like The last of us but in WW2. imagine Band of Brothers like games.
with what adam was saying about Battlefields campaign, i think they should do something similar to MoH:Airborn where youre dropped in to a large map with multiple objectives and zones to clear that can be done in any order.
27:00 The moment Lawrence realises that one button fatalities have been removed since press demos, I wonder what he thought about them selling that feature as 30 fatalities for $15.99 when he found out
They should just keep it with Bad Company, that's literally one of the best fps stories I've ever played at least. It's just like what Kovic was kind of saying. The second one not so much, but the first one had huge maps. I think I'm actually going to go play those again.
It's not the game that makes it suck, it's the fuckin community
kinda of true
Kinda of true? :-)
TEEY LOVE stupidest comment on the fucking internet. call of duty community is trash.

TEEY LOVE "Heard" lol... CoD Community is cancer
Damn, i could land a plane on Kovic's shoulders
Imagine if the "Funhaus" crew versus The "Sunny in Philly" Crew on Family Feud.
JOSHY WASHY Can we make this happen?
stevesb97 I wish we can. :(

Didn't really care about what they were saying 100% focused on Mortal Kombat X
Get Chris Pratt for the next game. Imagine.
Fuck. Yes.
The space missions wouldn't totally suck balls with him in it?
Tyler Hayman-Harrison Andy Dwier... Space man!
Extremely overrated...
Imagine Chrisvin Sprattcey in the next game.
wow

Gabraham Lincoln amen
I'm glad I don't live there
Gabraham Lincoln I'm not sure how healthy that is for a developing male brain.

Mauricio Morales ofcourse the sport games are going to be the same, it's sport, what are they supposed to change, the gameplay?
Awesome second half. Listening to people genuinely excited by things makes for the best content.
Do you wanna' know how I got these scars?
CYBORG EXO FUTURE SOLDIERS!
I just wanna say that I found this episode of Dude Soup way more enjoyable with just 4 people; otherwise too many people trying to have their say just tends to get very shouty and difficult to enjoy. Thank you!
Short answer: Yes.
Precisely what I needed. Saves me listening to old IG casts...for now.
Why not you say? Because if they do barely any work and keep releasing a "new" cod every year, all the little kids will still purchase it...
***** There is a game called Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Siege (Will be coming out) you might get what you want in the things listed above.
FUS RO DAH That's true. The old Rainbow Six games were similar regarding realism.
***** Well you know what attracts kids the most is that they only want realism in graphics not the gameplay.
Beacause the fan base is way too young for tactics
I learnt a lot about James this episode.
I feel like I'm going to be a substantially better parent now.
Thank you for this PSA

Re-release Black Ops 2 for Next gen. Thats it.

Cod died after cod4.
Glad i stuck around till the end. The random darktower chat was pretty cool. I love those books.

that sucks

RonnRetrobro jr It's already dead
.....sorry ahah
Me I just hope they try to make it "fresh" like where it's fun again but hey It's gonna be mostly the same as before like what AW basically did
Evil Paragon 2 You said zombies 8 times in that wall of text. You sir have lost every argument ever.

Never talk about COD while playing the masterpiece that is Mortal Kombat X
You guys rock even more nowI Thank you James for also thinking Erron Black is the Gunslinger from the Dark Tower books! My favorite series by far!
They havent even released any info about it yet so how can we know

MW3 sold more than BOII
Yeah but mw3 sucked (in my opinion), way to biased to higher levels in mulyiplayer
hmmmmmmmmmm

David Goyer, the writer of The Dark Knight wrote Black Ops 2, the writer of Crash wrote Ghosts
Spoiler Alert
Black Ops 3 sucks
that little video of soup at the beginning makes me really hungry...

The LA station you were listening to was 95.5 FM. It's a classic rock station. They play all Beatles before noon on Sundays
You play through a level then at the end its like "Then we did this and it was cool! But then there's this!" - Bruce Green best description of every Call of Duty storyline ever.
I think Battlefield had their story line figured out well when they made the Bad Company Series. It had that open world feel to it, though it was a bit more linear with objectives, but if they expanded on that idea and the open world feel they could create their own identity for single player campaign.

my opinion of the ideal cod experience: Either go back to any of the old non modern wars and do it better, or go back to the whole idea of ghosts where u are the resistance but u never make it to a proper army militia, have the game like the squad mode but make the maps way bigger, like battle field big, and put objectives on the map that u have to accomplish to further the story line, ur not some super soldier, just some grunt doing what u gotta do. Also, enemies don't just randomly spawn, instead the more kills and chaos you cause makes more dangerous enemies enter the playing field. U can also use the same super sized map for multiplayer and zombie mode, though each mode will have its own exclusive maps
Call of Duty: Civil War! with options to be the drummer, flag guy, and flute
Having a noice big bowl of Dude Soup in the morning, nothing beats a 8AM bowl of salty DS.
* "bone marrow-y" =)
The last 5 minutes was pure gold.
Another great podcast.. Helps me feel warm out on the wall.
Black ops is the only cod that has a solid story that lasted over the years
The way I want to see Call of Duty go is a story where you play as an assassin for hire.
Good talk, laughed so much at "7 years on the napkin" :D
Bruce's "wtf" face at around 37:32 ... = Priceless lmao
Every time I watch one of these Podcasts, I'm going to keep hoping in vain that it'll turn into a Dark Tower podcast
To address the battlefield campaign segment of this, i would like to see an open world type campaign when you are part of a squad in a large scale war and you are are given an option of doing certain objectives, but depending on the objectives you do the story will change or it might make other objective easier or more difficult
Adam's idea for the video game where you start as a caveman actually sounds really cool
BTW I appreciate the homage to RAY in the main channel with the cool art to remember the legacy of RAY...
Trey arc should make a call of duty in the wild west time period. That would be cool. Cowboys v. Indians
This is the greatest thing i have ever listened to.
I forgot this came out today...I'm so happy.
Really enjoyed the cast guys
Thank yall
I'm not much into the CoD series anymore but I hope there is a massive change in blops 3! On another note I've just realised something about the funhaus guys= Lawrence=the Stephen Hawking of the group.Bruce=that guy who jumps into bar brawls for the "craic" Irish people's slang word for fun.Adam=the guy who sits on the fence and doesn't give a crap.James=The comedian but is being serious most of the time.Spoole=Everyone's best friend.Joel, well Joel is pretty much Aladdin.
Would love to see a podcast similar to the main roosterteeth channel where you guys just talk about whatever.
Story will either be two things:
-The story will tell about how the Atlas Corporation came to be and how Johnathan Irons came to such a powerful leader.
The Highlander would be an awesome special character for Mortal Kombat. Although his head would need to come off every time hes beat.
I love Lawrence's little comments, they crack me up xD
I think what Adam wants for a story is like the game airborn where you parachute into the somewhat open world map and have to do the lets say 5 objectives.
Good lord, I think I've seen Lockout 3 times, and the last two times I didn't realize I'd seen it already until the third act. Even now I couldn't tell you what happened in that movie....
I haven't play call of duty for like the last 3 titles, but I think I'm going to get this next one. I think I've taken a brake from it long enough that it'll feel good to sit down to a new call of duty game again.
Damn this one makes me feel old. I was in high school when MK1 came out.
There was an RTS called Empire Earth, just like Adam was describing. Start from Prehistoric, to future Nano age.
A return to World War 2 would make me incredibly happy.
Adam's idea of battlefield's single player actually sounds kick ass.
I hope Cod goes into time travel where you , as a fully equipped soldier, get sent back and totally destroy an onslaught by the romans.
with what adam was saying about Battlefields campaign, i think they should do something similar to MoH:Airborn where youre dropped in to a large map with multiple objectives and zones to clear that can be done in any order.
I'm so happy
holy shit, Adam, Burnie, Spoole and Angry Joe all look like multiverse versions of each other.
Gary Oldman is back as REZNOV
Bruce's story was the best IMO.
PS: Station wagons rule, lol.
Mortal Kombat : Shaolin Monks was one of my favorite games as a kid!
Damn, sick new intro guys.
fondest memories, coop - 2 vs x amount of bots on nuke town, pistols and ballistic knife...i miss coop games.

The moment Lawrence realises that one button fatalities have been removed since press demos, I wonder what he thought about them selling that feature as 30 fatalities for $15.99 when he found out
Ghosts ended on a cliffhanger, there will be a ghosts 2.
I had an urge to watch MK again and watched both of them last two nights - spooky!
They should just keep it with Bad Company, that's literally one of the best fps stories I've ever played at least. It's just like what Kovic was kind of saying. The second one not so much, but the first one had huge maps. I think I'm actually going to go play those again.
The idea you had for going though times in a cod game is the exact same as one i had about 4 years ago and really wanted it to be a thing.
