Choko (Under the Choko Tree) is also called Chayote Squash or Vegetable Pear? Sechium edule. Gourd Family. Cucurbitaceae. When I see the picture it appears to be same. Cool season squash. In New Orleans is called mirliton.
Hi Nev, just wondering does the jar keep the paper damp? Should we redamp if it dries out before all the seeds germinate? Also should the jar be kept in the light or dark?
Interesting, though I would suggest the test is done before planting rather than just after storage/collection unless you’d plan to go out and try and collect some more. 3:16 made me cringe - getting seeds wet (wet hands) and then putting them back into the packet. 😮

Hey Angela, the idea is if you have a representative sample, and all of those germinate, by inference the rest will germinate as well. As far as planting, I suppose you could if you are testing at the right point in the year. Much too late for cucumbers here! :-)
