    That was probably the best video about the a6700 i have seen so far, and i watched a lot the last 2 days 😃 the informations were what i needed and you got it right, you need to buy whats for your needs. i never been into photography besides with my iphone. Last year i got into Motorcycling and i wanted to improve my photography skills and editing with a real camera. i thought about the ZV E-10 but i knew i want to use it more for photography than videos so this is my go to camera. i will buy it the next days in a package with the Sigma 18 -50 f2.8 and start my photography and learning then 🙌 Nice video and good job with your view on the a6700 👍

    Wahoo! Congratulations with the purchase! Great video, probably the most honest and transparent review / comparison out there. How much better is the 10-bit colour btw? Even though my zv-e10 is 8-bit, I still prefer shooting in s-log3 whenever possible and I was wondering how big is the difference in the grading experience?

      I haven’t tried slog3 on the zve10, I’ll have to give that a go and see if it falls apart much. Honestly, 10bit is nice to have, but not a deal breaker for me at all if it didn’t have it. I loved working with b-raw, which is 12 or 14bit. But 10 bit doesn’t excite me all that much lol

    I was hoping you'd discuss the value proposition versus something like the FX30. And you did. It seems like the 67' is the right call for you.
    Topic aside, lovely outdoor scenery and framing and grading and all that. Autumn sure is for the film nerds 🍂
    Shot in log? Lut available? 👀

    • @thomasjmcclure
      @thomasjmcclure  9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, It was hard to choose between the two, honestly the main pull for the fx30 was the xlr inputs. But I’m loving the rode videomic ntg at the moment.
      I did, slog3 and I’ve never made luts, I love grading, the best ones I’ve used are by color grading centrals UA-cam page.

    • @daniel_grachev
      @daniel_grachev 9 місяців тому

      @@thomasjmcclure ouff, that xlr handle is an expensive addition though, isn't it? Basically costs as much as a zoom f6 that has 6 inputs and 32-bit float recording. Speaking of which, any thoughts on the new Rode Wireless Pro system?

    • @thomasjmcclure
      @thomasjmcclure  9 місяців тому +1

      @@daniel_grachev that’s a good point about price and alternatives. I think the bonus to the xlr handle is that it’s baked in to the video file, no lining/syncing in post.

      come on man, it's fine that you have a DSLR or point and shoot for that stuff. but i'd appreciate it if you didnt put other people down for using what they have. I have seen people make amazing content with a smart phone. we shouldn't throw a blanket statement calling peoples work and creations "crap" because of the device they used to make it. you dont have to use your phone for video, thats fine, this guy chose to. thats fine too

    I think that for my type of use I will stay in the apsc world, I have lenses that I love and I don't feel the need of a full frame. but.
    I would like to have the a7 battery life, how is the 6700 compared to a zve10 or fx30 in terms of battery life?

    • @thomasjmcclure
      @thomasjmcclure  9 місяців тому +1

      Good question, it’s definitely substantially better than the ZVE-10, not sure about the fx30 as i haven’t compared. I’d imagine they would be pretty similar

      @leodileodileo 9 місяців тому

      @@thomasjmcclure ok because from the specs , the battery on the 6700 is 2280mAh (same battery on Sony a7c) but if you search online with the a7c you have 740 shots , with 6700 "only" 540. probably they're not accurate , but maybe 6700 is the upgrade I need . thank you

    I'm looking for a camera that can take good photos and videos when traveling.
    I recently got the iPhone 15 pro max which has a pretty good camera when traveling for taking simple family/friends group photos, as well as taking photos of anything on the go.
    I would like to take high quality photos that have more detail, with some depth of field/bokeh effect. I like making short tik tok, instagram videos/reels with b-roll footage. Nothing too fancy, but i would like to make short cinematic-like style reels. I can do this with the iPhone but I want to be able to have more control with the camera settings - especially the depth of field. It's kinda possible with the iPhone but there are obviously limitations.
    I think the 6700 seems to fit my needs. I hear a lot about the overheating problems...but i don't really plan on recording footage for a long period of time - just short like 1 minute footage with the possibility of redoing it if i mess up. Will the be any issues with that? Also, would there be any issues using this if i were to travel to countries that are hot/humid in the summer?

    • @thomasjmcclure
      @thomasjmcclure  7 місяців тому +1

      I use it for all my UA-cam videos now, and i have never had it overheat, i used it for 1 wedding, no overheat. But… i also don’t do long shoots of slow mo 4K. I think you’ll be fine with it! (Unless you like in a part of the world that is particularly hot all the time, but still, short 1-2 min clips won’t be a problem)
      I personally haven’t experienced overheating, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible lol, i think people who shoot outdoor sports or long weddings etc. they’re the ones who will see that more

    for my type of work I shoot many different types of work situation,s in 2 cases i would need the shoot to record longer than 1 hr for sport events for after game analysis at the highest resolution and fastest frame rate , the same for defence industry where shoot Missiles, rockets and warheads explosions and working at plus 45 degrees C as well.

      @thomasjmcclure  9 місяців тому

      Interesting, I don’t know much about sports videography, so i guess that would be an area for long recordings of 120fps. I know at bigger games the cameras all tend to just send a signal externally to one big hub/switcher recorder thing. Do you record straight onto the sd card?

      @@thomasjmcclure This is not for broadcast or transmitting , used for study sport , there are highspeed cameras used , but the cost for a set us tends make it that you could buy one or maybe 2 cameras and only able to record in very short time. covering the games over the full duration , also setting up a high speed Phantom has it limitations .
