It's better to have it than not have it but when you buy it you are told that you have free live time traffic updates, which you just don't get. For example: In Scotland on the 30'th of August 2017 queensferry crossing was opened and new roads before and after the bridge were built, Today is the 17'th of Decemeber 2017 and the GPS still doesn't know about the existence of the new bridge or about the roads before or after the bridge, it tells you nonsense about roads that don't exist anymore, another example: motorway M8 between Edinburgh and Glasgow the part near glasgow was renovated almost a year ago and it shows some nonsense about a 50Mph limit on the motorway which doesn't exist for a long time, as it was a speed limit only for the renovation. It is missing updates about closed roads like in Ediburgh city. There is a function that shows you which lanes you should be on before roundabouts or junctions but sometimes it tells you and sometimes it doesn't. The holder that attatches to your windscreen falls off every 10 minutes, and its infuriating if you're driving through a busy city and can't fix it. But that's just a detail, the worst things are the updates about roads that should be there but aren't, if a new road is built then half a year later it still isn't updated. It talks nonsense about roads that don't exist. Unless Scotland isn't as important to Garmin.
I paid almost £400 for it, as in the package there were free traffic updates, so what did I pay the money for? if it doesn't work and I need to find the way myself. You can connect it to your computer every week with hopes for new updates and after 3 hours of installing updates its the same shit as before. This isn't funny if you work as a driver professionally. I need exact information in new places that I haven't been to before. Instead of Bullshit. Before I had a TomTom Trucker 6000 and it was even worse than this, I had to return it to the shop as it didn't work at all. Out of those 2 it's better to get the Garmin. It works badly but at least it works.

yes I must say on 12/10/17 I updated mines from 4.0.7 to 4.0.8 and NOW when I take i95N exit 104 to go to pilot to fuel up here in Va. it tells me it`s not truck accessible ?!?! and it clearly has 2 or 3 TRUCK fuel stops on that rd. so i`m a little disappointed with the update to mines i hope they fix this SOON. and I Thank You for your imput . it helps others also.

They need to allow you to customize your routs to favorite stops. Sometimes their routing sends you to little back roads that can get you into trouble if you arent paying attention. I have even had the damned thing make up its own roads, right through someones backyard. It isnt fool proof.

    • @marksview1787
      @marksview1787  5 років тому

O my sorry to hear that it making it`s own routes up , I`m with you on being able to make your own routes up bbecause im on a set route down i81 everyday from Pa - Va and i pretty much use mines for the arrive time and traffic because it Always tries to get me over to rte15 - i270 but i keep going so it just changes route after a while . you think it would remember it after a while and stop trying to send me that way But it doesn`t

Finding a couple things I don't like...but still overall WAY better than Rand's junk! I wish someone would take the best features from the Rand SuckNally (which aren't many) and add to all the good features of the Garmin, like SHOWING the exit numbers on the map, being able to 'avoid road' so it never even tries to send me that way, being able to update WITHOUT A DAMN COMPUTER (that one really bothers me!), and a magnetic mount/charging dock. Actually really bothered by the Jack of those few things, but love the fact that the Garmin realizes we do drive trucks in NY, NJ, CT, MA, NH, VT etc...the northeast, but seems like Rand could care less about this area, so many inaccuracies it's not funny, and I love the voice command feature. So either way we have to 'settle' for one or the other and choose the 'lesser of two evils'...but I'm kinda getting tired of settling. Why can't someone make a damn product with ALL the features, since we're being soaked $400-$500+ for these things!

I have a DEZL770. You do not explain in the update procedures that you can not use the Mini USB port to do updates. I did not realize that it had another port. Seriously you need one port for all functions on your devices. UNIVERSAL SERIAL PORT AKA USB. Your current port system is just stupid.
I drive for a living doing deliveries in a van.
    1. You have no icon for a van. Many types of vehicles are not represented.
    2. You need a database with Make & model of every vehicle. Thus you would know the average fuel mileage of the vehicle in use.
    3. You do not have a Fuel mileage log in the dezl770. AMAZING, Are you this ignorant of such a basic need ?
    4. I need to be on the right side of the road not the left side, in front of my delivery address. NOT across the street. you need a drivers delivery route program that puts people like me on the right side in which to park. Else we get run over by traffic.
    5. Speaking of parking, You have a "Go home" button, Why not a Park button ?
    6. Another stupid thing is, the first three menus I have to view and go through EVERY time I start this unit. VERY ANNOYING and time consuming. They are ignored and thus useless.
    7. I want a machine that learns my habits and starts on the screen I most use. The enter an address screen.
    8. Your whole address entry system is terrible and slow. I can not even enter a zip code, which would greatly reduce the address search time. DUH!
    9. Magellan has an excellent address entry system and it works. Copy it. Unfortunately the rest of Magellan units are not so good.
    10. It should be able to calculate fuel mileage and recommend gasoline station when our running low. then automatically ask how many gallons were added when parked at a gas station and recalculate the mileage to next refill.
    11. I want a machine that learns my preferred driving routes and stops trying to take me on side streets, bike paths, alleys and bad roads.
    12. I paid big bucks for a professional unit and this is the best you can do ? This unit has not had a serious update in a decade.
    13. You can not even adjust the screen icon size.
    14. You need new programmers. Adults are using your devices and they appear to be designed with cute graphics for children.
    15. Your Bluetooth does not make a copy of ones contacts within the unit. DUMB.
    16. Your updated maps are out of date by one to two years. Any new housing built within the last 6 months I have to use google maps.
    17. If I have to use google maps, what do I need your device for ?
    18. Your updates are slow in coming and very slow to do an update.
    19. You need to step your game and stay competitive.
Hire new programmers too. Your current programmers suck. You programming is linear and not redundant not circular.
    Milwaukee Wisconsin and surrounding counties.
    Very disappointing Garmin.

Wow , sorry for all your troubles but this review is for truckers ( semi's ) I cannot speak from a Van's point of view but it would seem to be easier if you put all your info such as length with and so forth of your vehicle so I am not really sure what all your problems are. Far as fuel and adding and subtracting your miles for you is ridiculous it really tells that you really know nothing about truck driving just from a little van you really didn't need to spend the money on a truck drivers GPS, seems to me you need a accountant and a calculator to figure out your milez and your fuel economy for your little baby truck. and as far as updating there's a cable that comes with it you download the Garmin app to your computer and it is self-explanatory. For the record I have Rand McNally GPS and it sucked to me so I still stand by the Garmin GPS for truckers. So you not being a trucker just a van driver explains 99% of your problems you bought the wrong item. Good luck and happy trails.
