She was the type of actress you swore you knew personally. She really touched a lot of lives and a lot of hearts. Rest well, Ms Lansbury, from a fan of yours since 8 yrs old. You will be missed.
I love Angela Lansbury. A sense of truth was expressed each time she spoke so passionately about her acting career - experiences .. her soul mate Peter was ❤rest in peace ☮️ together in eternity.
Kind of like the world's grandma to be honest. I grew up with her on Murder She Wrote so she's always been there, and had a very comforting aura.
That’s a lovely tribute! ❤️
She was a true class act that we all loved and respected!! After 70 years in acting she deserved the love from ALL of us and she got it---in SPADES!! RIP dear one!!!!!!!
@Mac Tex flex capacitor I live in a nursing home facility in Missoula, Montana and have a friend who would travel the country with her husband. She always slept late in morning and he was an early riser. Well, he would get up and go walk the grounds of the facility they were visiting and he started walking with a lovely woman and they would have delightful visits. It turned out to be none other than Angela!! I just had to share that story!!
How could anyone say she wasn’t beautiful? She was very beautiful and a great actor. RIP, Angela.
Yes she was beautiful. I don't understand how any one could think she wasn't.
She wasn’t a starlet, but she wasn’t ugly either. You have to use what you have and she definitely did that better than anyone else
I lived in the village in County Cork Ireland that Ms. Lansbury moved to. The Irish loved her for turning her back on Hollywood because her 2 children were using drugs and she wanted to get them away from all the trappings of Hollywood
Rest In Peace to a Wonderful Mom who happened to also be an extremely talented actress.
Love her even more
@@lorettanericcio-bohlman567 I never met her but everyone in the village that did meet her said she was down to Earth "No Airs about Her"
Shame America is rife with drugs and guns

She was so humble and talented. I saw her in Murder, She Wrote first and I absolutely adored her character. RIP Angela Lansbury, you were a one-in-a-million talent.
True one off my favourite sho I still watch, she was elegant and had class she will be missed.
I grew up watching murder she wrote, it was my favourite tv show. It was heartbreaking to hear her admit failure as a mother when her children fell into drugs. She is such a great Lady, such elegance and dignity, reminds me of queen women of another time whose like we will never see again. Thanks for the happy childhood memories watching murder she wrote. RIP.
Wish we could see reruns of Murder She Wrote!
Shock to know she was a singer
@@lindamoore7962 in US, one can watch it if they have Amazon Prime membership.
Just like our late queen, one thought this woman would go on and on, but sadly everything comes to an end. A lady with style, grace and elegance.
Oh your comment reiterates my thoughts exactly.
Angela Lansbury was a giant in her field who used her influence to help those less fortunate than her. What an incredible legacy.
Indeed! Murder She Wrote is a visual testament to that.
She played lorna deeds with raymond burr's Craig Carlson
Craig Carlson, was a lawyer, before perry Mason
I've always thought Jessica would Be her
Amen
Jessica Fletcher was a character, who always reacted the right way, even before mean and evil people, and everyone liked her. How many such characters exist on stage or screen?
@@vrfvfdcdvgtre2369
Before she took over as executive producer, they wanted her to be more of a stereotypical "fuddy-duddy," and Lansbury adamantly objected. It was important to her to show that older women, older people, can be, and are smart, vibrant, and capable of keeping up with the modern world. Getting older ≠ becoming useless.
The film industry never truly appreciated her talents; constantly casting her in supporting roles and rarely the lead, and she was only 23 when they first began having her play characters twice her age, leading to her "aging out" of the industry even earlier than normal. I believe this experience is why, when she became executive producer, she would frequently cast familiar faces that Hollywood "decided it was done with."
She said "not a beautiful face" but all we know she was much more than that,
not a lot of "beautiful faces" can be so beloved as you Angela. RIP.
"Life is so hard"...boy that was a mouthful. How compassionate of her. Such a talent and gracious woman. Thank you Angela Landsbury.
Those were the words that also stuck me. Her loses & sacrifices did take a toll.
Sad to hear about your passing. You will never be forgotten. At 96 you were an actress for the ages. I wish to express my condolences to your family and friends and millions of fans who won't be able to forget you ever. Rest in peace.
My mother's parents never missed "Murder She Wrote". We all loved solving the crime with Jessica.
And she always got them all right!!
My mother and I also!
Yes when I was a kid I just knew her as Jessica Fletcher. Didn’t know til much later that she was a much bigger star.
STILLLLLLLOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
What a compelling and moving interview. The fact that she chose not to publish this until after her death is both clever and touching... She made sure that she would get the last word when it came to her legacy.
The Last Word by NYT is always filmed and then released after it’s subject has passed. That’s how it works. One of my favourite’s is with Elaine Stritch. Wise, funny, revealing and poignant. A stunning “last word”. Literally.
And rightly so...
Legend. Queen. It’s because of her we have the term “icon.” Absolutely love and adore her. She was my favorite
i'm proud of her for being able to speak about her children and their run ins with charles manson. that's such a traumatic experience and her absolute strength and resilience through that time is so commendable.
A woman of immense dignity and talent. Rest in peace Jessica Fletcher
As a child, Ms. Lansbury first caught my attention as the drunken, outspoken old socialite in Death on the Nile and Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote. Even at that young age, I recognised her towering talent. Her performances in both those shows will remain indelible in my mind.
If only all of us could be as lively, sharp, and active as Ms. Angela Lansbury, ageing would be nothing to fear but something to enjoy and celebrate. Your undeniable talent and indefatigable spirit will be sorely missed. You’ve lived your life to the fullest. The world has lost a bright and constant star. Rest in peace. 🙏👼🌹
One of the greatest ever. Rest In Peace Jessica Fletcher
What a compassionate and empathetic spirit she was. A wonderful person who was a true legend of the golden era of stage and screen. No false modesty either. Aware of and confident in her talents. Murder She Wrote is one of the theme tunes of my childhood. Thank you for entertaining the world with your gifts. Rest In Peace dear lady.
One of the best of the old schooled actresses. She will be missed. R.I.P Angela Lansbury.
What an absolute Icon.
I had the opportunity to briefly meet her about twenty years ago. She was so sweet and delightful. Though my time in her presence was short, it remains one of my most cherished memories. Godspeed, Ms. Lansbury. You will never be forgotten.
I believe her grandfather, was The Mayor of London at one time, another, great, British actress, leaves, us, so manygone already, they don't make them like that, anymore, sad to say,!
This woman has brought me an unspeakable amount of joy 💔
Thank you. You did transport the imagination of a girl from Iowa to wonderful and fantastic places. Rest In Peace, Angela.

@@pamelastoner2427 Your comment caught my eye. My sister is named Pamela and my mother is named Faith. Just a coincidence but sort of neat.
she's both an extraordinary woman and a beautiful lady.
One of the greatest actresses of our times.
I remember in my senior year of high school in AP History and we watched "The Manchurian Candidate" in class. The whole class was shocked that Angela Lansbury was in the movie since we had only ever seen her on TV as Jessica Fletcher! Totally blew our 18 year old minds! RIP Angela Lansbury. You will be sorely missed.
😂
IP😅
They were shocked that there was a time when she was young.
Her Broadway work is superior to her television and film work
I loved her as Mrs. Price from Bedknobs and broomsticks. To this day it’s still my favorite Disney movie of hers.
I still love to watch Bedknobs & Broomsticks at the age of 60. Great childhood film 👍
RIP Angela Lansbury x
Rest in peace my lady 😞 😭 you were an extraordinary actress. 💔
Thank you dear Angela Landsbury. Your life's work has brought joy to millions. Ms. Landsbury was (and is) such an extremely likeable and rare talent. A rare person. Everyone loved her in her amazing roles and also in herself. Rest in Peace, we're missing you already.
Loved Angela’s acting. She was truly a professional and shared a warmth with us as viewers. May the angels sing her praises.
What a sweetheart and a treasure. Thank you, Angela. Rest well.
I just cried hearing about the passing and it was actually my birthday. I was so heartbroken, I grew up watching famous Disney movies she was in and including her beautiful singing voice. May you Rest In Peace Angela Lansbury. We’ll always think you you 😔🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️
The very first Broadway musical I ever saw was Sweeney Todd in 1979. What a way to be introduced to musical theater! She was fantastic! Goodbye to a great lady and a fantastic actress with boundless talent. 🎭🧡
Amen!
We are losing way too many timeless treasures. Rest in peace Angela
Brilliant actress! My condolences to family and friends. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent! Rest peacefully sweet Lady Angela!
Hi how are you doing?
Hello Arcenia, How're you doing?i came across your profile while surfing through the site,...i thought of you being interesting to know, hope you don’t mind?
She filled my childhood with joy as Jessica Fletcher. What a great actress and woman the World is losing. RIP dear Angela.
I thought she would live forever! 😭 Love her! 💜
Me too!!! 😢
No One Does.
She will! In our hearts and minds...her legacy is safe ❤️ 🙏 ♥️
The word legend gets thrown around alot, but she truly is a legend.
I am saddened. Angela Lansbury was a wonderful person. Her acting was excellent as she responded, listened to others in a scene and showed remarkable sensitivity. I loved the scripting, direction and overall excellence of "Murder, She Wrote." I would imagine that she had a great deal to do with selecting content, producers and directors. It seemed that she often reached into her own cast of friends when you saw the guest actors who she obviously met in the movie world and the Broadway theatre. She was an intelligent, kind person who cared about what she did and how it was projected. And she did not get caught up in a world of ill behavior in her roles. To have won the awards that she won, she would have had to be the best. Although I did not know her, she would be the kind of friend I would be proud to have.
Well said Kitty!
Beautifully said Kitty!
She was fantastic on Broadway in Mame.
We had second row front seats what a delightful night that was.
RIP, Auntie Mame⚘️🪑
@Martin well ...... Thank you for asking. I am doing well. I still think about the fabulous contributions that we saw in the life of Angela Lansbury. I really admire her personal character and her choice of roles in the theatre, movies and of course, TV with "Murder, She Wrote". Watching the latter, one would never have to be embarassed by the degradation of anything within the story line or words said by anyone. Truly remarkable and respecful to the audience. In this day and age, just finding respect and showing it toward our fellow man is a joy in itself! How are you doing?

Auntie Mame
A lovely interview. Such a lovely lady who gave every role she played, her all. I do beg to differ with her re the ‘pretty face’ remark. Angela Lansbury most definitely had a pretty face *AND* was an excellent actress who wisely stood by those acting skills. Thank you, Ms. Lansbury. May you truly rest in peace. 💞
What a legend! Angela was a delightful actress and classy woman. Rest in Peace. 🕊
She was always SUCH a favorite of mine. When I heard she'd passed I had to wipe away the tears. RIP, dear lady... thank you for giving joy to so many.

I'm so sorry I invaded your privacy, but I'd love to be friends with someone who could share such sensitive post content, which means you're a woman of integrity. I wanted to add you but sending you a friend request without your consent is inappropriate because I'm a public figure and it wouldn't take much either, I'd appreciate it if you send me a friend request now so we can be friends and text better here on UA-cam
Loved her in ‘Murder, she wrote’ and Beauty and the Beast. A real talent! ❤
RIP dear lady, I loved all of her work, she was a star!
Genuinely devastated. She was a true legend!
The first time I saw Angela Lansbury was on the Sweeney Todd musical, and oh my God her performance blew me away. I knew from then that I'd watch anything she performs in. Thank you for this video that takes us through her long span of career (adding some movies to my list to watch). Her candid, no-fuss introspection on her career and family life is almost an anomaly in today's Hollywood. Rest in peace 🙏
I saw her in Sweeney Todd and she was absolutely Amazing
Your thoughtful comment on Angela is so accurate, you must be very wise yourself.Angela would be impressed!
She was one of the celebrities of the golden cinema, outstanding actress in theater, film, television, crowned with many distinctions throughout her 70 years of activity. I loved her very much. I respect and esteem Angela. Rest in peace!⚘

A long and illustrious career! I just happened to watch " Gaslight " the other night, which was her first picture. She was seventeen at the time. A star of stage and screen, she also made her mark on television with her series, " Murder, she Wrote. " A lovely woman!
we have lost one of those rare people who unite the whole world, with his kindness, his education and his subtlety. it is a very sad day, we have all lost a family member.I believe that there is no one who does not love you, life takes its course, for everyone, but only a few will remain eternal. thanks Angela, for all the beauty you have brought. With love, from Italy ❤️😔💔
I loved and idolized you as Jessica Fletcher, as a person, I held you up on a pedestal. I will continue to do so even now that you are gone, because your life truly inspires. Rest in peace.
A wonderful, multi-talented actress. She will be sorely missed.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Angela Landsbury but at 96, I guess she's led a full life longer than most. I thoroughly enjoy her in "Murder She Wrote" so much that I bought the entire series last spring and continue to enjoy watching it. RIP Ms. Lansbury. Thank you for your gift of entertainment to the world.

What a fantastic, talented woman. She will be deeply missed.

I absolutely loved her acting she was amazing such a shame she’s no longer here
Gosh dangit, the loss of a legend.
A life well lived, and a gentle passing during sleep few get to have. That's the greatest reward one can get.
Bedknobs and Broomsticks was my first love of Angela Landsbury. She was a remarkable performer in everything she did. Class, grace and humility were her greatest assets. RIP
I watched MSW with my grandmother, who was a big fan of hers. Then I saw Bedknobs & Broomsticks, which I loved, but it wasn't until I saw Sweeney Todd as an adult that I really appreciated her talent. Rest well, Dame Angela. You were one of a kind.
She’s a legend and will always been one of my favourite actors on 16th of October, I will not just be celebrating my birthday but hers as well. I remember when I used to constantly brag about how I have the same birthday as Angela Lansbury and nobody knew what I was on about RIP, Angela, you will be missed
I really loved Angela Lansbury. She seemed so down to earth & she was an incredible actress. It's not easy to go from comedy to drama & straight acting to singing & dancing. You really have to be good at your craft to pull that off & pull it off well, Ms. Lansbury did. She had a life well lived. I'll miss you, Jessica, RIP.
This interview was beautifully done. I’ve been dreading the day I would hear she left us. Angela Lansbury was simply amazing and I felt like I knew her. Rest peacefully wonderful lady and much love to her family during this difficult time.
Hello Melissa, how are you doing?
I saw her first in Disney's Bed Knobs and Broomsticks. Her voice-over for Mrs Potts (the tea pot) in Beauty and the Beast fitted the character like a tea cosy. May she rest in peace.

Oh, thank you for taking us along with Angela Lansbury.....what a wonderful woman and wonderful actress.....You'll always be with us dear Angela--a true Angel.
R.I.P Angela Lansbury😔🙏 I'll always remember your beautiful voice. My late father would always watch Murder She wrote on a regular basis. When I was very little watching Beauty and the Beast, I knew it was your voice as Mrs. Potts. I felt like you could've been my grandmother that would read bedtime stories to me. And I was so happy to see you in the movie The Return of Mary Poppins. So much love & prayers I send deeply from my heart to Ms. Lansbury and her family💖 Very much love from El Paso, TX
Well done, NYT! I grew up with her on Murder, She Wrote, and hadn’t known about her theatre roles until more recent years. Now I need to watch her films. What an amazing life, achieving so many great roles in a long career.
when an old person dies.. it's not their age that should affect you. When an old person dies.. we are losing: A library of knowledge. An ocean of wisdom. A link to the past. A time machine. A mirror. Our love. xo
What a great lady, great actress. Gone but never forgotten. Rest in peace. ❤
She is such an inspiration! I love that most of the memorable and amazing things she did -she did when she was older. Life is full and she lived her's to the fullest.
Loved her in everything she did. She did it all, sang, danced, and acted so naturally you really believed she was the character she as playing! Whoever made the movie musical MAME and didn’t have her do it must have kicked himself for the rest of his life. That movie Bombed without her. Will miss you My Lady, 🎉❤
She was so down to earth yet had an enormous talent. Angela was a gift to the world.
A gifted talent that undertook endless projects with incredible charm and dialectical power. Distinctive and well drawn characters that were utterly believable really. From voice to every gesture. A rewarding artist that could carry a show or support it. Many of her roles frankly became so iconic we took it for granted. She left the world an incredible body of work much of it on film thankfully. RIP
She was one of my favorite actresses. I still watch her in Murder she wrote sometimes , and love it. RIP Ms Lansbury. Thank you for your honesty, integrity , you will be missed .
She was an Amazing Woman and she will be Missed like family... ❤️
