Thanks - cleaning the blade with a piece of paper as shown got rid of white stripes I was getting. Been driving me crazy, now prints perfectly. Toner cartridge was still half full, so saved me $50 for a replacement that I didn't need yet.

Thanks for this. I ended up taking the blade out and cleaning it that way. There was a lot of built up toner on it. That was my problem with bad prints. Now it's like new again. This will save me hundreds of dollars a year now.

Thanks, the insert thin cardboard tip worked, half-used 3rd party toner saved. Subscribed. (P.S. thrown away the old original toner with scaly cracks on the roll. Sad to say that 3rd party toner works better.)
Wipe with cloth appears not to work for me, printout has a blank 2mm horizontal line for about 10-20 pages (fortunately it got normal later). Almost thrown the toner.

using cleaning wipes and/or paper towel won't work... I was able to get the black lines to stop showing on my scanner with glass cleaner and a MICROFIBER CLOTH. had to be dirt or a smudge of ink that came off some labels that I had printed, but the microfiber cloth was able to really clean it. spray cloth not machine. I have a MFC-L2700DW. the black lines were just on scanned docs using the feeding tray on top

I'm printing circuit board artwork onto transparencies.
My toolchain: Ubuntu/KiCAD/GIMP/printing a .xcf file directly from GIMP w/max resolution and absolute black/white contrast/no grey scale or antialiasing.
I'm using the default printer driver and I have tried all paper settings. The default "plain" paper setting is the only one that maintains the fine line details of the artwork on the print.
Question:
Is there a way to increase the darkness of the print while maintaining print quality/detail? You mentioned here that the voltage setting regulates the toner. I assume I could modify the cartridge to the lower setting. However, if the voltage is the only factor I will reverse engineer and modify the circuit to add my own fine tuning adjustment. This printer is dedicated to PCB fabrication only. Any advice is welcome. I assume all responsibility for my modifications.

The voltage is the main factor but I don't know how to modify the voltage. I suggest you a Canon or HP printer. Canon technology is more reliable

If the problem is, like mentioned in the video, voltage set too high by the printer, assuming it's a new cartridge, is there any way to force the printer to reduce voltage? Thanks in advance!
No, there is no way. The problem could be the drum unit

I have a HL-L2320D, and the toner has the same issue. Inspection finds cracks in the roll in the toner, hinting on bad rubber. Finally replacing it with a 3rd party toner fixed it.

Hello! I've recently bought an aftermarket cheap toner for my brother 2540 printer and its giving black spots on the left side of the page with every print. I have clean the drum but did not resolve the issue. Please, I need some advice. Thanks in advance!!
check the cartridge, may be the mylar blade under the developer roller is damaged and some toner fall over the page. are nthe dots at the same distance? check the developer roller of the toner cartrisdge, may be it's damaged
The printer was a bit complicated to hook up ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 but it does the job very efficiently. I like the ink wells versus the ink cartages that cost an arm and a leg. It prints quickly and the quality is excellent. It shuts off when not in use, so you have to remember to turn it on. Overall, it exceeds my expectations. I'll update my review in a couple of months.
It would be nice if you explained how to remove the drum unit. Our Brother is a different model, and I don't know how to remove it.

What happens when the gear does not turn the developer roller? I'm having that issue. Seems like the roller metal end can't properly hook onto the gear. I tried to remove the plate on the side of the gear, and I pushed the metal end into the gear. It would turn ok. I closed up everything then put it back into the printer. Then as I print, the metal becomes loose from the gear again
It happens that the roller does not turn and the toner can't be transferred on the drum. Probably the internal part of the gear is defective, or there is something blocked the toner roller movement
I have a Fax4100 (...not 4100e, as far as I know). Drum is new, toner is new, drum reset, scanner bar cleaned, but prints are very light. Driver is new and this is a Windows 7, 32bit machine. When I go to printers and the Brother, there is no place for me to set density in the advanced tab (which is at the bottom of the page, not a top tab.) Can you give me any suggestions? Is there a mirror within the machine that could be dirty??? I am out of ideas!!!
I think it's not a dirty mirror. it could cause white or grey streaks, not light prints.Try to clean the transfer roller. try to clean the drum with a soft cloth
Getting Ghost images on a brother 8840 D. First time I have had trouble with it. Replaced the drum, fuser, and toner cartridge with new brother equipment, and cleaned the laser window; the problem is still not fixed. Any thoughts?
You have to change drum and toner cartridge at the same time. a defective toner could damage the drum unit. try to clean the drum unit

Thanks for this. Unfortunately, I still have a problem. A few years ago I ran some label sheets through my printer. One of them jammed. Since then, every print I do has a light dusting of toner over the entire page. I've cleaned everything I can reach including following the instructions you have provided. I still have the dusting problem. Any suggestions? Thank you.
somwtime a cleaning is not enought. probably you have to change the toner cartridge or the drum unit

I did all the cleaning routines on my 5340D but I still have a dull dark 1/4" wide horizontal line or mark across my print. It looks like transfer possibly , each page it's in a different spot across the page. HELP!
only one line? it could be the transfer roller, check if it's in the correct position. check the contacts between the drum unit and the printer

So what exactly is the fix for if the printer is printing light? I cleaned my toner cartridge yesterday and after putting it in it is still printing light. I didn't know what the problem was but from your video it sounds like it's an issue with the voltage and that my printer thinks that it's a used cartridge
Is the toner old, or dump? Are you sure the problem is the toner cartrisdge and not the drum?
@@viandant5 as far as I'm aware it is a new toner cartridge that was purchased a while ago to replace the last one. We've had to clean it a couple of times. The last time I cleaned the developer roller, it fixed the problem, there wasn't any streaking or lines anymore and it printed black instead of gray. This last time I cleaned it the same way and now the streaking is gone and it's printing consistently, but everything is like 50% darkness instead of being properly black. I also did some test prints, because I read that you should do like 10 test prints just to get the toner to even out, but every single one of them was identical and only Gray. Also I guess it's possible that it's low on toner, but the printer hasn't alerted that it's low on toner
@@nobody2021 If the cartridge is some years old May be the toner powder inside the cartridge is dump. Probably you have tio change the cartridge or refill the cartridge

It's difficult to say without checking the printer. Does the drum turn freely? Does the toner roller turn? The transfer roller is in the drum unit
2541dw , the problem is after cartiage refilling , lines come when images are be copied , when toner take out it shows lines on the roller , what was the problem and how it will be solved.
probably the problem is the toner roler blade, dirty or defective. Or the toner roller has been damaged by a defective toner roller blade

Try to clean the developer roller with alcohol, try to change the drum, are you sure of the quality of he toner powder?

Check if the toner cartridge is correctly installed, the toner roller must be in contact with the drum. check the corona wire, check if the corona claener is in the right position

My MFC-7440N does not print on one spot of the page at all, so when you print a page there is a so-called white line where the toner never goes on. This is from the top of the page to the bottom and is in the middle of the page. Do you have a fix for that?

Check the corona wire of the drum unit, is it dirty? Try to clean it. Check the toner roller, is the toner evely distribuited on the whole surface?

my bro, my HL 1110 is having faded print. It is not on always on the left side, but on different spot. I have done cleaning developer roller and still having problem. do i need to change the drum unit? I hope you can help me identify which exact problem so I dont need to replace the whole drum 😢i mean if i change the whole drum, i would not know the actual problem and problem will come back. I thought maybe i can just replace the developer roller only to test it out?

It's difficult to say because it could be lot of causes. it could be fuser gers, bushings, drum against charge roller. for start you could remove the toner and the drum unit and turn them manually to check if the problem is there

Seems easier just buying a new toner cartridge. They are cheap on ebay.
Genuine cartridge are not that cheap.You should buy genuine cartridge for brother printers.If you use other compatible cartridges it can damage your brother printer.
My toner is replaced and I can scan, and copy, test page comes out fine but I can not get it to print. It spits out blank sheets. What is wrong?
I would start reinstalling the driver, check the USB cable, or the wi-fi properties

The solution is not to buy Brother laser printer. It has lots of defects and is not appropriate to print photos at all.

You may also have toner saving function ON.

Here in our office, we operate BROTHER - HP - KONIKA-MINOLTA LASER PRINTERS (Mono chrome and Color) As well as Epson Ink printers using BULK INK FED FROM 500ml ink reservoir.
When the printers are maintained well and cleaned they will operate without problems.
Don't understand what direction to turn the roller while cleanng it. She says rotate roller only this direction. Needs to tell us how to hold the cartridge so correct side is up, since my cartridge is different than this one.
