    I love the tip, Thanks
My father stood on Psalms 91 for over 50 years, now I take it as my own. A couple weeks ago I committed to memorizing all 16 verses, I'm so close now I know I'll have it 100% in a day or two. The snare of the fowler tried to get me more than a time or two and when i read verse 3 and realize who delivered me, I get humble. God bless you, God is good all the time.

Thanks for sharing! As an aside note, Walmart sells a little athletic ball pump for around 2 bucks. The pump can be easily opened, valves reversed and turned into a great light weight fast vacuum pump. It has several tips, one of which is plastic and fits into the top of food saver for jars like you have in the video. I know your husband is right handy, he can figure out how it’s done. You can make a video about it! God bless!

Vacuum seal avacado in a jar. It will stay green green green. That way you can take out a small amount if you dont need a whole avacado.

If you are going to use the avocado in a few days...simple float the half you are not going to eat in a bowl of water, cut side/seed side down. I put a lid on it ensuring the avocado flesh is forced down and stays fully submerged. The principle here is the fat in the fruit and water don't intermingle and it keeps the air out so it doesn't blacken. : )

  • @morginejurdan575
    @morginejurdan575 4 роки тому +6

Yes if you use TWO lids on a Regular jar it works better. Sometimes the extra one falls off and sometimes it sticks. I just leave the extra one on if it sticks. I still use them because so many things come in those jars so I don't have to recycle them. The lids are available again on Amazon 24.95 for both sizes together. Don't buy on Ebay where they are 50.00 each for some!
I put all my beans, rice, seeds, nuts and so on in these jars in addition to fresh herbs, cut avocados, soups, extra coconut milk and so on in the fridge.
Another idea for those who do not have the lids but do have a Foodsaver Canister (you can often find at Goodwill.) You can put your jar inside a bigger Canister, seal it with the Brake Bleeder and the jar inside will be sealed! Open the canister and remove it. ALSO great for Re-sealing jars of things I don't use often like Red Curry Paste or Baking Yeast and such. I close the small jars they come in, and put them inside a canister, or quart canning jar, seal it, then remove the lid and the little jar inside is now Re-sealed and will remain fresh much longer! I hope this is valuable information too! Great video! Thanks so much!

Yes, that is what I do for the few very powdery things I vacuum seal but see no need for it on anything else. I have used paper towel pieces but from here on out, will only use small pieces of scrap cotton cloth like I do for making vinegar. That makes it cheaper yet :D

Wow, Heidi, you really simplified using the brake bleeder. Thank you. I bought a hand held food saver for $3@ Habitat. My favorite store. Ordered lids from Amazon. Then I picked up a bag for $.50 that had few things in it. There were 2 of the hoses. When I had my cateracts removed, they gave me a small zip lock bag. All my vacuum sealer things fit right in. Of course after I get a brake sealer gonna have to go bigger! Thank you again for all your work bringing a better lifestyle to us. Take care.

I got the break bleeder pump after watching your recommendation. I found an easy way of tightening the black point that goes into the food saver lid so that you don’t need to press down so hard to keep it connected. A strip of wide rubber band, with a small hole cut into it, then insert the black tip and just hold in place. You can also twist a more narrow rubber band around the tip if you don’t have a wide one. This just prevents the air from leaking back in. I’m so glad you and others have recommended this quick, yet effective way of sealing dehydrated goods.

I posted a reply in the main contents. You can also get a reducer so you can splice the larger vacuum pump hose down to the smaller hose tubing that came with the food saver jar sealing cap so you can use the original nipple on it without having to hold on to the vacuum line.

I vacuum seal in wide mouth mason jars all my dry powder goods like flour, salt, sugar etc. I just fill the wide mouth quart or half gallon mason jars with flour then use a round wood mallet and pack it down tight. Then fill again and pack it down. Fill up to the inch headspace line. Pack it down tight. I put a dry crush coffee filter covering it good put the lid and jar sealer adapter and vacuum away. I own the gamesaver silver Foodsaver which has a very strong motor and vacuums without problem.

Not sure if you're still following comments on this video, but I use a brake bleeder, too. I found that the accessory tube for the Food Saver (if you take off the green end) slides to fit perfectly into the brake bleeder tube and somehow creates a seal. So, I put the cut end of the thin Food Saver tube in the thicker brake bleeder tube and then I can use the gray accessory hose end right in the sealing lids without holding the tube in with my hand. I use the Food Saver port end with the brake bleeder. I'm not sure if that makes sense... I love your videos!

Now we have two food saver hoses with lid connectors to insert into the brake bleeder and foodsaver vacuum lids...so if one connector breaks, we still have another. And as Christy J stated, you don't have to hold the connector into the foodsaver vacuum lid and it works great!

You can find a vacuum hose reducer so you can use the original nipple that goes into the vacuum cap that goes over the jar. It's a splice that reduces from your brake bleeder hose to the smaller canning hose. So it will snap into the vacuum ceiling top. It would be a lot easier than having to hold that hose into the hole as you show in the video then you could use both hands to hold the brake bleeder pump .

I was recommended to check out your site from SuttonDaze on brake bleeder vacuum packing jars. My question was how low to take the vacuum which you states was 15inhg or greater. Thank you. However I maybe can answer a question for you on why wide mouth jars seal better with this method then regular mouth jars. The larger the lid the greater surface area the pressure or vacuum is applied to. PSI stands for pound per square inch pressure and inhg stands for inches of Mercury vacuum. If you multiply the force you apply in the jar whether pressure or vacuum x the square inches of surface area, you can determine how much force is applied to your sealing area. Wide mouth lids have greater surface area and ultimately provide greater sealing force at same vacuum levels compared to regular mouth jars. I hope this helps and thank you for your terrific presentation.

love the break bleeder option!( great when you dont have power). i have had issues also with small mouth jars. what i did was take a old lid and drilled hole in it filed it down to make smooth, and put it on top of the lid being sealed. you do have to make sure the rubber seal is pointed the correct way.seems to work fine. i did try 2 lids but both were sealed and i didn't want to try prying the top one off. so the hole seems to work with the electric option.

I find it remarkable there are no canning Coops in my area of Texas. So I started to learn to can with the help of Utube videos. 1) oven method to dry beans and rice in Kerr jars, 2) dehydrate previously frozen veggies and now the brake bleeder method to the jars.
I planted my 1st garden, and started storing food for emergencies 5 yrs ago.

You can connect the brake bleeder tubing to the Seal A Meal tubing. At Advance Auto get a package of Assorted Vacuum connectors. (Dorman 47432) One of the connectors in the package will fit inside the brake bleeder tubing and will go over the outside of the grey nipple on the Seal a Meal tubing. Since they are not marked, you will have to fit to find the correct one. Works like a charm. Thanks to my husband who took one look at the set up and knew how to fix it.
