I like to imagine actual scientists behaving like this with their lab specimens.
The NASA scientist extracts the moon rock slowlly, using illogical tools, sliding it all over his work station. When it is finally opened, he fans it all over with some swirling light doohicky. After carefully removing the specimen, he will painstakingly measure it's every dimension with a cheap ruler and an ever undulating tape measure. He will then come to the inevitable conclusion that he specimen is highly "Technical", and will inform his colleagues in a series of unitelligible consonant sounds.
You know that is how I am going to behave if I ever end up working in a lab.

I don't get fidget spinners. I find them incredibly boring and awkward to handle. Fidget cubes on the other hand, I can atleast understand what they might do for some people. The cubes fit nicely into the palm of your hand and you have several things to feel and click and fiddle with, without them being too distracting. These spinners... you have to hold them in an unnatural clumsy way, then you spin them and then? you watch them spin? What is so fascinating about that? I don't understand it. Probably because I'm double the age as the kids it's marketed to xD

Seirunir Fidget spinners were actually designed for kids with ADHD and Autism to help with boredom and anxiety. So perhaps because we dont have those ailments we can't see as much appeal.

I don't know about others but my favorite object to fiddle with is a pair of scissors. I've always been having a pair of them on my desk ever since I was a kid. I find the sound they make very relaxing. My favorite subject of ASMR videos is also cutting paper or hair with scissors.
