I'm so glad I got to see Anathema and meet Danny before they split. I saw them in Portland with Alcest. Such a great show. While I'm sad the band is no more, I'm happy Danny is well and still making beautiful music. Fuckin' love Weather Systems.
Fantastic interview. I really like what Danny has gifted us with the new WS album - it's fantastic. Appreciate his transparency in these interviews too. After watching a few of them I would suggest one thing (speaking as though he is my mate and I am having a beer with him, which of course he isn't and I don't know his circumstances at all): After your tour commitments, drop everything and go spend at least a few months with your "distant satellite" (Ariel - his daughter, who he also wrote a beautiful song about, but appears to live away from him). If he did this it would help spark a lot of positive creativity for the next WS project, plus would help him further grow and heal on a personal level. Not judging him whatsoever, but just think a change of scenery / spending time with loved ones would propel his writing and positive intent to a whole new level for the next project.
Delighted to hear you're back and well Danny, met you years ago and wish you a bright future. In tears with these new tracks, been misssing anathema, always been one of my favorite bands.
When Duncan Patterson left in 1998 I felt Anathema was over...but the guys somehow regrouped and put out two great, but different albums....but listening to Weather System is a bit painful...i am glad some of the guys continue, but it is such a copycat thing...always the same gimmicky slow build-up....always the same chords and arrangements...but without the depth....but I will try some more listening for sure...Anathema was big for me 20 years ago...
Judgement and Alternative 4 were the highlights for me. Ive enjoyed a few tracks such as the Lost songs I think a few others were okay, but they are the kind of band that peaked for me a long time ago. Still though, that peak is miles above basically anyone else. Katatonia, early In the Woods, mid-era Tiamat is about it.
Judgement and alternative 4 were the absolute peak. Judgement especially is one of my top 10 albums of all time. Natural disaster was good and the next two were OK. But I lost track of them, always the same structure. I have ordered this album and see how it goes.
Danny hasn't shown his face one single, solitary time since the album's pre-launch or its release. I find it wild that we see the interviewer, but not the interviewee! In a recent clip of him signing LPs of the album, we see only his hands.
I'm so glad with this new album ❤ I always loved Danny's compositions. Can't wait to see weather systems in Portugal! Oh and I would also love to hear some tracks from Monochrome, that album really moves me❤
I've been an Anathema fan since 07, and I'm extremely happy about this new project! Btw, thanks for signing my WAHBWAH album copy in Guadalajara México back in 18!
And my theory of Danny writing more positive and less darker material over the years was right then. I always felt like that transition from 90s to latter era Anathema was very personal. I'll always prefer early Anathema but on a personal, human level, I understand! Mental health and all. Good luck!
I get what you’re saying, but you seem to forget he attempted suicide recently. His positive upbeat lyrics perhaps were the cause of it. I’ve dealt with life long depression, and I too had that moment where I tried to be more positive and see the world in a different light. It didn’t help. In fact it made it worse, because the higher up you go the further you fall.
That metal riff was so unexpected and sick! Need more of that from Danny. That opening track is everything I've wanted from Anathema in the 2010s. What a track!!!! 🤘🏾 *Edit* Just heard Danny say that song wouldn't have been on the album because it was too metal. What the hell?! I always thought it was him keeping Anathema too light and lite! Wow 😂 I now like Danny a lot more.
I actually prefer Are You There Part 2 and Untouchable Part 3 to the previous parts. But I'm biased because I don't like Untouchables 1 and 2 and didn't particularly care that much for Are You There? Though the Hindsight version was really good!
I honestly don’t get what you’re talking about. Minus a few songs like the lake one and the first track most of it is just like later Anathema. It’s the same chord progressions and everything.

I love Weather Systems, hope they go on tour
I am so happy that anathema comes back with new name and style.. It's like watching part two of a movie

@@patrickbertlein4626 Oh...In the Woods Omnio is such a treat!!!

@@Aenigmakil Dont be an asshole, one man band?! STFU
Finally!!! I Miss Anathema so much 😢
It’s good to hear from Daniel! 😊

It really is a fantastic album. Great interview. All the best Danny.
Love the album and love his work! 💜🙏🏻

Anathema is still alive thanks to Danny!
Happy things are going well for Danny! :-) Love the album, and the States hope to see you too.
Awesome that the dude is back. Lots of emphasis of how they are all still buddies but not exaclty a lot of love given to the brilliant Lee Douglas.
I heard she became a waitress.
Yeah interresting. Hope for a big tour, now.
Many thanks for the interview, I thought Danny sounded very emotional when talking about Anathema. Love the new album.
He messed things up in such a way the lads couldnt work with him anymore. Thats why he sounds sad, deep down he knows he f*cked things up.
That's just him trying to manipulate people's opinion on him. That's why the comments on his "band" page are blocked...
Its pretty obvious he didnt want to talk about Duncan in the present.
it's one of the reasons i love later anathema and a reason why i'll like this album , it's positive music.
what or who are the radiant?
The radicant, not radiant, think I spelt that right, is Vincent's new band. They got an ace new song here on youtube, take care.

What a terrible album😂😂😂
don't know if he's using the GFM donations for "mental health" or Weather Systems.
Scoucers are so corrupted 😮💨

The album is sooo fucking good!!!
