    That's not a meat cleaver. It's a French styled ice cleaver.
    Between the welding and grinding you softened the metal because you weren't cooling it as you worked. Then you didn't retemper the steel correctly. The blade was also bent, which when hot you could have fixed. You also messed up the bevel, it's angled that way for a reason, so the cut product rolls off the blade.
    Bluing isn't food safe, so this blade can never be used again for anything ANYONE WILL EVER EAT. You ruined it.
    So many mistakes, such a poorly thought out job and not any research on how to do it correctly.
    The saddest thing is over 3 thousand people think you did a good job instead of potentially poisoning people.
    SMH...

    2. with so much rust you would at least expect dimples in the blade after it is removed and this blade had nun.

    • @alexisgrunden1556
      @alexisgrunden1556 Рік тому

      It's called _jimping_ and it's for your thumb to rest on and push against for better stability when making a slice as opposed to a chopping motion. At least, the teeth close to the handle are; for the rest? I would assume uniformity and the rule of cool were applied~

    Bro did NOT apply that rust well enough if it came off that easily. F for the attempt at faking a restoration of a brand-new meat cleaver. FYI, saltwater makes things RUSTIER using those processes, not less rusty. Also FYI, that's not even true electrolysis, nor is that power system efficient, if even a power system, nor does said system take 8 hours and turn the water that color and the knife in that condition. Electrolysis is putting a metal connected to a terminal of a battery system into a vat of a chemical (not water, not salt water) and putting an activating strip into the water connected to the opposite polarity to attract ions from the strip onto the metal. It's used for nickel, copper, titanium, and sometimes gold, coating, but never for rust removal, because it *doesn't work for that*. I'm 3:42 into the video and I can already tell he's failed in three different aspects of restoration. He even shows off his sub-par welding skills at 7:03 to prove he's the one that put those welds on in the first place! Amazing!
    Also, at around 9:05, you can see how badly he failed to properly sharpen the blade, as it's now off-balance and dull and the sanding removed more material than just keeping the straight edge, so now it won't cut cleanly or straight.
    Aaaaaand, of course, he couldn't even temper or heat treat it properly. And then sands it after tempering. And then he cold blues it? That's unsafe and doesn't do anything. You clearly know how electrolysis works, just nickel coat it. That would provide better rust protection and make it actually usable. You can literally see how the metal tried to reject the bluing process (as it's designed to). It shouldn't take that much work to blue something. Not to mention, by the time he gets to wiping the grease or whatever that is onto the knife, most of the bluing has been sanded off anyway, making it even less usable.
    I'm also confused why, at 17:55, are you using a (metal intended) polishing wheel on wood, instead of just using stain and proper oil that would actually protect it? Are you trying to create "Restoration Very Rusty Old Cleaver Again"? Or, alternatively, take a nice Clorox wipe and wipe off the handle to get the same effect. Also, is that literally cooking oil or is your linseed oil actual shit?

    • @PerpetuusTenebris
      @PerpetuusTenebris Рік тому +1

      And, for the record for anyone reading this, that knife likely came into production around the year 2017-2021, as knives with a finger hold and a saw like that were often multiple separate tools until people got too lazy to do it otherwise.

    억울하게 고자질로 혼났어요. 서러워서 혼자 울었어요. 그리고 그 언니한테 지나가면서 욕을 했어요. 내가 욕하는 사람이 아닌걸 다 알기에 내 기분을 알거예요.평상시 좋은 이미지이면 한번씩 화낼때 이용할수 있는 카드로 효과가 있어요.

И ещё закалка странная и отпуск не сделан, да и чернение явно не для бытового предмета (для мяса, приготовления блюд ну никак). А так - кропотливая и красивая работа.
