- ITS FINALLY SOLD!
The day has come folks, we finally unloaded the 2001 BMW 330i E46! What a couple months it has been getting this sorted out. First we were scammed, then blown off, so Daniel took care of the job himself. After months and months on this car we finally let her go to her new home at full asking price. I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this car to get it to where it is today. Ill have another video in the future showcasing the build list, cost on parts, and what it took to get the car to its current condition.
A BIG SHOUTOUT TO DANIEL FOR HIS SERVICE, AND FOR SUPPORTING THE CHANNEL AND BUYING MY BMW!

Hi everyone, I'm Daniel. I snatched an amazing car from an amazing man, Alec. A couple small unforeseen speed bumps along our journey but the blue beauty is safe in El Paso. Huge thanks to Alec and everyone for your support. This was my fifth BMW "flyout and drive back" adventure and I'd have to say definitely the most satisfying.
Congratulations on a cool experience and great car . I just had the red battery light myself, it was the voltage regulator/alternator as well. You just never know . Hope everything else went smooth
Enjoy it Daniel! That's a beautiful BMW. Thank you for your service!
Amazing ride congratulations..
I’m glad you are home safe Daniel, I’ve been there plenty of times on the side of the road. Glad you are okay!
@@Boasandpythons Thank you..
The end of era with the beemer that started the channel! I’m glad it went to a good home with Daniel who shares the passion for BMW’s like all of us. Keep up the good work Alec!
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for the support and comments as always!!!
Congrats on bringing this project across the finish line, was a pleasure to watch and I learned a lot that I will apply to my 330ci. Will definitely be going back to this series when it comes time for me to tackle some of the jobs you covered on the channel!
Thanks RC! appreciate it. Should be getting one last video out on her eventually, going over all the parts costs etc.
Glad to see it's going to another BMW home. Congrats @danielwatts9803! Solid deal given all the work especially the transmission and driveshaft.
Great way to end the series and very cool you got a TEMP plate for the drive home. Looking forward to the next videos, Alec!
Thank you Anthony! Sad to see her go but shes off to a good home and will be enjoyed for years to come. Im happy with the end product. Now to focus my attention onto the next one! big stuff coming for future episodes
see thats the issues with thoses cars, they are amazing and defently be worth their weight in gold but its a suicide to fix them if you arent a mechanic because the amount of time they require is way to much for labor hourly rate
youre not wrong... If I hadnt worked on E46s before making my channel, this car wouldve kicked my ass and left me broke...
where tf is gas 5.89 still?
Northern CA near the Oregon border
Thanks Biden $5:89 a gallon .
“5.89 a gallon, rough…”
*proceeds to floor it*
damn right! gotta show her off! lol
he score big time, Pretty much NEW RIDE. good job on the services.
Thank you! I hope hes happy with it !
What a bummer about the shipping company. On another note, the new owner is a lucky man! He got himself a great deal and Im sure it will be trouble free for a long time! You did a great job on that bimmer bud😎 Keep up the great work👍🏼
yeah crazy... it was a 2 month ordeal. I hope so too!
Thanks dude, appreciate the support and comments as always, good to see ya!
Love your vids but please remove the tags from your microfibers.
Love from Saudi Arabia ❤
LOL! ill try to remember to do that in the future :) thanks for the heads up
Hey Daniel I need your expertise. I’m looking at a 2007 bmw 545i the v8. The car has been sitting for awhile and I bought a ivm because that’s what the vendor told me was the issue. The vehicle has 120000 miles on it. I really want it but don’t want to buy a lemon. Could you give me your advice
Howdy, my name is Alec. Daniel is the one I sold the car to in this episode.
The IVM is a common failure on the n62 V8 engine. No way of telling unless you install it and see what happens. Hard for me to say without seeing the car
6k is a good price you probably have the labor and parts in it and some, I saw a piece of crap e46 for sale for 6k it was a piece of crap
i think it was a fair price too! almost broke even on it with all the parts i installed, not including labor!
You have/had two? I have two a 323ci & a 330ci, I think the coupe is much much prettier. Don’t you find the more you drive a 330 the slower it feels? An they’re so not slow
correct! still have my 02 E46 330i manual. hahah sometimes i do, until i rev it out to 5K and then i remember they have a lot of top end power
Ever gonna sell the manual one ?
$5.89 a gallon is rough? :) Come to the UK and see what we pay :) It's around $8 a gallon here.
BRUTAL! id be driving a 4 cylinder! lol
@@DayOffDIY Same MPG with the E46's :) You'd need a 320D (diesel) to get better mpg's
You do a great job I have watched a lot of your videos, Thanks
thanks for the support kevin!!!
If you have glass cleaning issues try using huck towels.
thanks for the recommendation!
Man, I’m jealous of Dan😂. I wish I was close to you so I could take your next project car of your hands. As always, keep up the great work.
There should be more hopefully! Appreciate the support!
Shipping company is garbage!!
yeah shiply.com screwed us big time
Wow man I’ve been behind on your stuff but initially discovered your channel on my recommended awhile ago! Had a feeling you were on the California coast, greetings from Fort Bragg!
hey tyler! youre one of the few that can recognize this area! were neighbors. You do any fishing down there?
@@DayOffDIY I do not or at least not in awhile, I just got a shop here recently. My grandparents live here and they are dedicated fishermen so it shouldn’t be too long before we go out fishing! I also make BMW content, and now I’ll be filming a ton on the coast! 🤙
dude! badass! we ought to link up sometime! I just saw your winterjam video , looks like a lot of fun! also great job on your edits dude, you got some great skill
@@DayOffDIY Keep in touch man! Really appreciate the time and effort you put into your content, I enjoy watching your builds a ton. You’re livin the dream!
Congrats Alec. what a quality, diligent refresh on this e46. Your so fortunate to have found a well kept car that just needed that tech-2 deep maintainance. Most never get that attention. It was such a deeply satifying series you gave on this e-46. Love your dedication and work ethic. You have no dought inspired many people to seek out an E-46 and save them. Job well done sir. You earned a salute yourself. Yahoooooo! 🎉
Thanks Bog, really means a lot! Im just glad you guys enjoyed the series on this car, I tried to be as thorough as I could. Ill do my best to carry my work ethic into all the future builds! Thanks for your support as always, youre the best!
Tacos is always a good choice. 😁👍🏻✌🏻
always! such a tasty and cheap option
and I'm crying about a little over $5 per gallon of gas in WA state!! $5.89 hurts, I don't understand how ppl afford to drive a gas guzzler on the daily with costs like that...like 40 cents a mile, 10 miles is $4. anyways things are about to change a lot if these costs stay this high. congrats to the new owner! this car is super cool imho.
right? here we get all of our fuel shipped in via barge so we have to pay the california tax and the remote NorCal Tax on fuel! its tough.
Thanks for the comment and feedback! appreciate it
Crazy thing is I had to do the same thing with getting my car sad thing is they still text for a pick up after I went and got it my self
yeah i guess its very common for shipping companies to drop the ball like this... we learned our lesson big time
@@DayOffDIY I really don’t understand how they keep up with theses scams very time consuming thanks
The brushes are probably worn in the voltage regulator. I swapped the voltage regulator on mine with the alternator still installed, it’s possible on the Bosch version not sure about the other version. I did the same swap in the junkyard with just a few basic hand tools, just have to remove the air box.
yeah sounds like it, i need to familiarize myself with that job so i can service them early in my future vehicles.
Looks like Daniel got an amazing car. If I was closer, I would have scooped it up. Alec, love the videos, keep it up. Do you have an instagram by any chance?
Thanks! Appreciate the support! I only have a personal Instagram at the moment, I need to get one made up for this account. When i do, ill throw a post out!
Hello brother I have a dmw 330ci 2001 I really would like to share my problem with my car 🚗 am really trying to put a turbo
Hey Joseph, hard for me to help without seeing the car but go ahead and ask
Good video man. What do you think i should buy: e39 or e46?
personally id say E46, but it depends, if you want a softer ride and more room, id go with the E39. If you want a little sportier, id say E46. I prefer the 3 series body style over the 5 for that generation
@@DayOffDIY thx for answering ❤️
love the taco run bits LOL!
Gotta keep it alive! Lololol
man, that car looked realy nice.
it cleaned up real well!
Wao!! Exactly, what I end up doing when I flew to Los Angeles to pick up the 2002 330ci convertible and also from EL PASO!!! unbelievable stuff. After all the work you did on that car, he is driving a hell of a car. I am enjoying my 996 Porsche but, I do miss the BMW. I'm still struggle driving the manual transmission especially in hills - LOL! Is a 1999 with 67k miles.
such a similar story!!! Im quite happy with it, the breakdown was unfortunate but hey... shit happens!
Gotta love learning manual on hilly terrain, makes for some fun times lol.
That porsche must be a blast!
@@DayOffDIY yeah . That car is practically brand new. Maybe I see Daniel around since we live same town. I’m watching the E30 new video now and that car i really really loved! I might be next flying there if you decide to sell it. Julio
The e46 is such a fascinating car, truly has been insane seeing you breathe new life into this one. Sad to see it go but this guy got one hell of a car.
glad you think so! thanks for the support, i appreciate it! now back to the E30 :)
The e46 that started it all is gone. Most of us have spent many hours watching you practically rebuild that car. Really glad you got your 6k Alec, oh well on to the next chapter on DIY.
Johnny! Glad you enjoyed the process my friend. dont worry we will have more E46 content in the future, i still got the manual daily driver that needs some more attention soon. Hope all is well! Any luck with the starter replacement yet?
@@DayOffDIY Had a loved one pass away and so it's not priority at the moment. Also health issues but it's going to be ok. Life can be a handful sometimes for all of us.
Johnny im sorry to hear that! I hope youre getting through things okay. If you need someone to talk to you got my info, email me anytime. You got a friend over here.
Car looked amazing congratulations, e30 looks good as well. And your daily looks good .
Thanks Chad! Appreciate it friend. You get any more use out of that smoke machine?! Hope all is well!
@@DayOffDIY hey buddy I sure did use it again . I smoked out my other e46 last weekend actually. I do still appreciate that my friend ! Your a good dude …
I wish I lived closer to you, You're very smart honest and a good mech keep up the good work. I like how you showed how to adjust the ICV I did mine and it works great thanks again.
Thank you Eric! Appreciate the kind words!
6k was an amazing deal.
im glad you think so! makes me feel better about the sale
Bro where you been? When are you coming out with another video ?
griots is headquartered here where I live so that's super cool. I like to support the local businesses. the stoner glass cleaner is my favorite too.
awesome! i didnt know they were WA based. Ive been wanting to explore WA some more on a road trip soon. Love stoner products
Your awesome man❗
Thank you!
Great stuff!!
thanks eric!!!
Coming back to an old video here so feel free to ignore this.. but couldn't help but notice Overwatch and Steam etc. on the desktop of your PC! You do a bit of gaming?
Liam! What is up!
I do! I’m a big WoW fan, used to play but now I only watch yt content on it. Classic and classic hc, used to play overwatch a lot! We all kind of lost interest in the last few months, we mostly just discord and play golf with friends. Been looking for a new game, I honestly really miss mmorpgs, but I don’t want to get too involved and invest too much time. Bad for my business lol . How bout you?
Meant to say, I play with my brothers, that’s how we keep in touch
@@DayOffDIY Awesome! Golf with friends is a lot of fun too, but I agree it's hard to sink too much time. I've pretty much only ever stuck to playing RuneScape - perfect game to play if you only have X amount of time in a day. They re-released Old School RuneScape (based from 2007 onwards), and it's PUMPING at the moment, sits at around 100k + players a day! Not sure if it's your scene but worth a go if you're interested.
I might have to take a look! Love OSRS, I watch the occasional UA-cam video on it. I used to sit on the piers at some island and pick up lobsters people would drop as they farm their fishing skills lol
We should play online sometime! Time difference between us might be tough though
@@DayOffDIY Hell yeah man! That would be Karamja docks, probably. They're basically dead now but that's because there's so many better methods, lol.
For sure, I'm keen! I'll flick you an e-mail or something with my gamer tags if that's cool, don't really want to post them here.
I just purchased an identical 01 330i with 114k miles for $800. Unfortunately, the body has hail damage and isn't nearly as nice as yours. I just subscribe I'm really looking forward to restoring and flipping mine this channel really gave me hope!
With BMWs you really can’t predict this stuff. I’m super early when I do maintenance on my e60. And I did a trip to visit fam in Cali, back home in AZ. And right as I get out of Palm Springs my darn Ac compressor pulley broke off. It’s crazy how you can think the car is all good and then boom! It reminds you I’m a 16 year old car lmao love the content man!
so true! you never know, gotta be prepared for the unexpected... its tough!
I have a 2005 330xi and have been following this build/ refurb project. I definitely learned a lot watching this because I’ve had to repair many of the components that you did. All but front drive axles that was my first repair. Thanks for your experience and ability to explain thing’s clearly and precisely! I still reference your content! Thanks Alec!
Hey Eddie! Im glad it was helpful for you! Thank you for the kind words and support, we got an awesome community goin on here
Ever gonna sell the manual one ?
Ive been thinking about it! for the right price id let it go for sure. just havent had any offers yet. the paint makes me hesitant to list it
@@DayOffDIY let me know. I would be interested in the future for sure
DAM!!!! I'll Miss this car. I wish I could buy it!! Well Done!
ill miss it too Ryan! luckily there will be plenty more coming in, now i just need to make some progress on the E30 :)
Hey man i am about to buy a e46 330 but i just can't decide between manuel or automatic. What would you suggest?
personally i love my manual, depends on driving preference but i would go with the manual, if you can find one!
Celebratory Tacos! 🌮🌮. Congratulations Alec & Daniel!
You know it! Thanks for the support!
Nooo! Do a full window regulator video! Since these cars have so many problems with those going out, I'm pretty sure everyone will be thankful with the video! :)
I already have one on the E46 👍🏻

@@DayOffDIY Oo yes I forgot sorry! I even commented about the convertible regulators. How expensive those are... lol
Yooo! I’m back from basic training and you’ve grown so much! I’m glad you found a next project and I can’t wait to see what happens with this next car! Amazing content as always
Welcome back! Congrats on making it through BASIC. The academy setting is always challenging, at least for me in fire academy, but congrats on making it to the other side!
Thanks for stoppin by, good to see your name in the comments again friend
Oh btw you had any issues with the windscreen washer bottle & if so how did you sort out the leaking?
not on this one but sometimes they do leak from the washer pump seal, you should be able to pop it out of the reservoir and replace the rubber grommet it seals in with
Scammed!! what!! Insane.....anyways, what an absolute deal for Daniel. Congrats to him. Wish i could've bought it myself
I think he got a good deal too. Hopefully hes still satisfied after the alternator failure
Gracias por tu servicio to 🇺🇸.
As someone who road trips on both my cars or motorcycle, can't state just how important it is to have water, a blanket, something to eat, etc in the vehicle, just in case. You can get a tiny little (military?) blanket that's about the size of a small notepad and that can work in a pinch.
I typically keep a backpack in my car, a "go bag lite," that also has a light jacket, and a change of underwear and socks, a puzzle book and a flashlight in it. On the bike i'm wearing the astronaut suit already, so it's just a couple of granola bars in my pocket and a couple bottles of water in my panniers.
great advice, always important to be as prepared as possible. you never know when youre going to need it!
I'd buy that for 6k all day - it's beautiful and the quality of work and parts used to sort it out was top notch. Hard to find cars sorted with that much care and attention to detail, especially 20 years old.
I appreciate it! im pretty happy with the outcome, we put a lot of hours into this one, im just glad it went to a good home with a happy owner. onto the next one! :)
You out did yourself!!!!
thanks curtis, as long as hes happy im happy
Hey Man that was nice of you, splitting the cost towards the alternator and your right you did not know that thing was going to give up. I would buy a car from you any day!!!
thanks! it felt like the right thing to do. There will always be unforseen breakdowns, its just all about how we handle them and overcome it.
appreciate the kind words and support!
I'd looooove to see a series of an e90/e91. I love my N52 and seeing someone else working on it would be very pleasing
i plan on getting an E90 for a build one day! I almost bought one instead of the E30, but this car just fell into my lap so i think it was meant to be
Glad you were able to sell that and turn a profit. Excited to see the transformation on the e30 and more to come hopefully. You seem like a really good honest man. Anyone would be happy to do business with you.
that means a lot Omar, thanks for the kind words! Im hoping to do the same on the E30 and potentially find a new home for her when im done!
I try to be as honest and transparent as I can. I wanna keep it real and authentic with you guys
Such a great community you've got going here with this channel. You know things are right when you have a comments section full of like-minded folks who are drama free & all here for the same reasons.
Respect!!

I try to keep things positive so itll attract the same, for viewers, and people who want to engage and comment! it looks like we are on the right track. cant wait to see what things look like in another 6 months! appreciate you Roth
Awesome to see this come full circle and awesome that you split the cost of the alternator with Daniel. Stuff happens!
you never know when itll happen! Glad you enjoyed the series my friend!
That blue 1 u got I got the same 1 in the UK but with 330d with 192k miles Currently doing the rear arches and sills
a diesel! awesome, always wanted to play around with a diesel e46
@DayOffDIY should get 1 very fun car had mine from 2015 woth stage 1 remap the car is handful to handle always sliding
Great to see that the deal went well. It puts a smile on my face too. You're so honest in everything, that just receives natural respect.
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words. We got a kickass community going here, thanks for being a part of it

6 000 $ это очень недорого у нас такая будет за 15000 состояние супер!!!!
here in the states id never get 15k for this one, but im happy with 6k!
Tuff stuff is my go to cleaner for any stubborn stains, you can use on more than just upholstery.
im going to order some up! hopefully it can pull those rust stains out of the carpet
@@DayOffDIY unfortunately with rust stains if it's been there for a long time only dyeing will get rid of them
Fantastic job on bringing this modern classic back to its glory. Def a fair price for a well sorted clean 330i.
FYI the Amazon a-premium window regulators are actually pretty good quality. A lot of people on the forums use them with good luck.
hey Rob! appreciate it.
Thanks for the tip on the regulator! next one i purchase I will definitely do that, already picked up a doorman replacement from my local parts store... hopefully it doesnt give me any issues!
ill be watching your part 3 later today!

dude copy all you need! nothing on youtube is original, its most likely all been done before, so reach out if you have any questions, and good luck on the next project! I am honored to be able to help you get your new venture going
btw! Audio quality is very important. I just recently upgraded my microphone after dealing with connection issues and quality, so ill attach the link for my new mic below. its a pricier investment but ive been thrilled with the quality so far!
