Consider putting your fresh water tank under your bed - 100 to 150 gallon of water so that you don’t have to worry about hanging that tank. It will give you a bay for storage space. Roof top deck for the races - the hatch can be opened up and you have access. The rest is available for solar.
$1600 is worth it just to get rid of the seats. Nice unit, Eric. Glad you finally found "The One". Can't wait to watch the series on the remodel. You take good care, my friend. Thanks for sharing.
This is going to be so much better for 2 people and 5 cats. Looking forward to the seeing the conversation process. Hope you let Diana share her design thoughts on the process too. 👏🏻👏🏻
Holy crap! I knew this was coming eventually but not right now. Wow, this is going to be so much fun to watch you convert this. This is the kind of stuff I watch. Please don't give up if things get hard and sometimes make you sad or angry and frustrated. You have Diana now and the additional kiddies (see what I did there... kiddies, cause the cats are your kids. I laughed at myself.) Anyway, we're all here to support you. Don't get mad if people say, oh you should do this or that, and, you're doing it wrong. Most of them just want to feel needed. You do you, with input from your family. The new intro is cute too, with Diana and the new kids. I'm happy for you. You've come a long way from those first videos where you struggled so hard, but Jax helped you through it, and you're still here, so you'll make it through this too. I'm proud of you and I don't even know you. 🙂💯💛🧡💙
I've been watching you since the beginning of your channel and THIS is going to be the coolest series. You have the experience, the know how and the determination to make this happen. It's right up your alley. Best of luck! Japan Mike out.
@@nomadicfanatic Eric, best part of the MD3000 series it's actually a 6 speed with 6th gear locked out. please have someone plug into the computer and shut off the 72mph speed limiter and unlock 6th gear and if you feel like it turn that 8.3 up a tiny bit and you'll have one nice cruiser. Those are not normal Phillips screws you need a square style bit to remove them.
I kept yelling at the TV. No Eric! as you were walking past all those other buses! I drove school bus for over 30 years! When you brought your bus into view I finally had such a relief. Ok, the bus purchase is beyond awesome, but I just want to point out that the new intro with Diana is GREAT!!!! Man, your happiness is bubling over. Way to go.
HELL YEAH! Eric, you done good ! Now where's Robert... gotta get him on board to help with this. look at all that roof space for solar, WOW! You have to convert one of those roof emergency hatches to an upper deck patio. This is gonna be great!

I forgot to mention I believe the 31 footers are the shortest deisel pushers out there but unfortunately, without underbelly storage. There's always a tradeoff!
Well this video is full of surprises. First of all I'm not surprised in the purchase of the schooling. Good choice great engine I have a Cummins x15 in my Peterbilt and that Cummins is a bulletproof engine you have very low mileage. Second of all I love love love the new intro. Very classy says a lot about this channel and what it's becoming. And I love that you two are in love and life together, it makes me very happy. Eric I've been following you for 7 years after I met you at a Bob Wells, meet out in quartzsite, Arizona. Diana I've been following you since you opened any of your channels. Really really happy about this new adventure, huge supporter of this channel. Eric you're awesome bro. Time to call Robert lol
some people do the roof raise not because of their own height but because it allows them to remove some windows (which have terrible insulation) and replace the ones where they want windows with insulated RV style windows, and put in upper cabinets and full walls for things like the fridge and bathroom. Ton of work though, it took ChrisTravels quite some time
That is great! Can't wait for all the bus build videos! I am retired from working on Bluebirds and Thomas's for 24 years! I loved the Safe T Liners! I told Eric back about a year ago with a diesel pusher, you must have pass through storage! There is no driveline so why not! Most of what I worked on had a 466 Cat , but with a Cummins you can't go wrong! We had soo many problems with the Def systems with our buses going into limp mode by only going 10mph on a 50 mph hwy with no shoulders.....real fun! So glad you didn't get a newer bus! Wa state is giving school Districts monetary incentives to turn in their non restrictive emission school buses for the newer crappier buses!
Wow! I'm SOOO jealous! What a sweet perfect Schoolie with the tons of under storage and all the other features. I converted and lived in an old Ford Schoolie with a Carpenter body for 5 years...long ago before conversions and road living became so popular. The best years of my life...playing music gigs back and forth in my rolling home between Nashville and California....My best friends in Calif. converted big Greyhounds, Prevosts and some City buses, etc. He helped with with all the schematics and build. You are so lucky to be beginning with such an adventure with such a great rig! I've been watching your videos off and on for years, but you can bet that I'll be tuning in regularly for this project. Just wondering what Insurance is available for Schoolies nowadays? Good Luck on such wonderful, exciting adventure! 🙂
So happy for you, Eric. I know that you have wanted a bus for awhile. We are really enjoying watching you and Diana together. This is so exciting! Mom, Dad and all the furbabies will have plenty of room. How wonderful!
Congrats on the new bus deal. Cant wait to see the upcoming progress. Glad u found a dealer that is willing to convert the bus to rv so you can drive it. I guess its not considered an rv unless it has water source, and a bathroom, or something like that.
This is so exciting! You have waited so long, and now your dream is becoming a reality. On top of that, you have one awesome lady by your side sharing everything with you. I can wait for the bus videos. Happy travels.
working on those school busses are a pain something as simple as changing a brake chamber takes an 1 hour compared to 30 hour on a semi trailer/truck because you have so much room. again that depends if you have a pit or not to work in.
Bob Wells made an observation on Skoolies. Where are you going to find a mechanic? The school system has its own crew, but, how many places can you go to get serviced?

For private use you do not need a CDL to operate a skoolie. Licensing requirements are set by the state. You may need an air brake endorsement OR, at most, a NON commercial license. There is so much bad information put out by people who don’t have a clue.
Correct. But this is not a skoolie "yet" It is a school bus including the flashing lights, stop signs, seats, etc. Once the "school bus" is removed from the title (and exterior) or registration, and the conversion starts it is a skoolie.
@@jamesvelvet3612 the school info is already blacked out. There is no school district info on the exterior. It can be legally operated without a cdl. The lights and stop sign are manually operated by the driver. Don’t activate them and you’re fine (and legal).

Doesn't all his friends do most of the work on his rigs and he just watches?
If you're not a mechanic, you watch...
What's wrong with that? That's why you have friends. Some of those friends know stuff that you don't know.
If he wants to hire friends to help why not?
