Awesome. We made 635whp on stock m52 with low compression headgasket and arp studs. Maxed it out with 715whp with a tubular exhaust manifold and custom intake. This was 2005 you can probably make more than that now.
God damn bro I wanna turbo my s52 I was thinking of oem head gasket with a spacer and arp head studs but want to push atleast 500whp until I build the bottom end
Thats awesome! I would like to know more about that build. I am planning to put a turbo kit on my E46 328ci, i was thinking about 6-8 psi, to be between 300-350hp and 400-450nm with decompression head gasket and arp studs. I am looking for an extra ~150hp to be reliable, what do you think?
@@apgarage2528 that 700whp dyno day was on 105. We were expecting to possibly blow it that day. Drove around making 550-635whp for almost a year using sunoco ultra 94 and an octane booster. Also used the water/meth injection sometimes.
Just finished my setup with decompression plate (8,5 Cr) and even with stock timing, haven't seen decrease in performance... When i find some time to spend,I'll use 100 Ron fuel and much much retarted timing.. the only bad thing is that M50 haven't knock sensors and i should be extremely careful..
Finally I think I've found the correct video and people, but what turbo is this? 3582 or 3530? Can you please help me to choose a turbo for mine also, only difference is, my engine is 2.5 323i Version, M52, everything else is the same as yours, stock ECU, Stock Clutch, Putting pink injectors, and maximum HP target is also 300...
So I don’t even have to touch the ecu? I want to boost my 328i but don’t have a ton of money rn so I want to do it cheap rn until I can replace the head stud and gasket
Mosselman is a company that supplied turbokits that produced 5/6psi from a GT28 turbo, those kits could be installed and used on the stock ecu and injectors without any changes to the mapping. i had this kit before my current setup. that ran fine untill i wanted more. Keep in mind that 6psi from a GT28 size turbo is not moving the same amount of air as 6psi for a GT40 size turbo, due to exhaust back pressure.
@@E36_kidd in my opinion, the GT28 is to small for the 2.8, and on 5/6psi you'll probably get like 250/260hp from that. that's why i went to a bigger turbo (holset HX35). If you want to do a budget build, and have some knowledge about how ECU's work, vist the romraider forums and read around there. I tuned my car with all the info that is available on there. The mosselman kit is not available for 15+years now, and i sold mine some time back. piecing together your own kit is a good option. a holset HX30 might be a good option if you want to do it on a budget.
@@uscp2 ok thanks, I have looked at the rom raider forums and I am just waiting to manual swap my car then I want to hop and start tuning, would a gt35 be to big because I have one sitting around.
@@E36_kidd run it with a small pressure wastegate spring, and it might be possible. My HX35 delivered 1100kg/hr airflow at 8psi, while the stock MAF maxes out at 750KG/Hr. Check the MAF curves thread on romraider to see how to solve this/change your maf. Just for your info, the ARP headstuds are not the best for the alu block. I run stock headbolts with a 0.140MLS headgasket at ~14/15psi for 2 years now without issue.
just shift to e85 and use stock compression? it makes engine better off boost and low revs. Also why not test stock headgasket and bolts i doubt they fail at 400hp im going to test this route, but yet dont have all stuff 😄

I did some tuning on a home brew 323i the other week... 280hp at 8psi...!!! :)
Did you add head studs or are you running oem bolts for the ~0.5 bar of boost?
Brilliant! Is it at all possible to keep the ac compresser in place or must it be removed?
We removed it for space, it’s very tight down there - but it’s probably possible to work around it.
Yes, it can be done, you only change the passage of the pipes on the fender side, I've seen a job done like this
Where you get the TopMount manifold?
Where you placed the coolant reservoir
How much did it cost to do?
How safe is it to turbo an alliminium block? Could i aim for 400hp without many issues?
If you drop the compression, an alloy block is fine at 400hp!

You can't run high psi with high compression no matter the fuel. It's a trade off between power and efficiency

3inch intercooler piping?
