Aircraft Carriers Fleet in Service Ranking by all Country
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 січ 2021
- Aircraft Carriers remain the flagship of the most powerful navies of the world with the United States leading the way. As of 2021, Helicopter Carriers are no longer included in this total and are given their own listing elsewhere on this site.
Landlocked nations are NOT penalized for the lack of a standing naval force but those powers with clear access to oceans ARE penalized for lacking a carrier element. Aircraft carriers currently under construction are excluded.
Data presented on this list is through 2021. Estimates are made when official data is not available.

Note that the USA has 9 amphibious assault ships that have flight decks and can carry say 16 F35s and a bunch of helicopters. If you see one, you will say “that’s an aircraft carrier”.
Yep and the worst part all of Japanese, Spainish and Italian ''aircraft carriers'' are actually helicopter carriers/amphibious assault ships that Turkey also launched one last year which will enter service in few months!! They could carry some vertical landing aircraft like F-35 or Harrier but it doesn't make them aircraft carriers really as their main purpose carrying an armored battalion so i must say this list is full of mistakes..
@@ggoddkkiller1342 all these number lists are fascinating, but not a good indication of relative effectiveness. Carriers, planes, tanks and even towed artillery are rather far from generic. 1 Swedish tank doesn’t equal one tank from Mozambique.

The US has twenty aircraft carriers. Eleven super carriers and nine Amphibious assault ships which function as an aircraft carrier. Step up your research guys. They also forgot to mention a few like the HTMS Chakri Naruebet is the flagship of the Royal Thai Navy. Or the Argentine aircraft carrier Veinticinco de Mayo (25th of May).
Argentina's carrier has been out of service for quite some time and sold for scrap, but Brazil has one that wasn't mentioned.
Yeah they mentioned some countries as having aircraft carriers when really what they have is amphibious assault ships. Japan shouldnt even be on this list, Im pretty sure Italy only has 1 carrier not 2, and if theyre going to include amphibious assault ships then they should show all the countries that have them that were left out or didnt have theirs mentioned (US, China, Brazil, Thailand, South Korea)

because they are LHD and not true carriers. STOVL aircraft are slower, smaller and carry less than true fixed wnged ones. and their missions are VERY different...because then you could also start counting russias Ivan Gren class because they carry aircraft too in form of ka-52k attack helicopters. or the two new shipd they building, forgot their name, they also carry this. you cant include an LHD or amp. ass. shhip with a pure carrier, its like comparing a multirole fighter against a air superiority fighter. like f/a-18 against f-14. a stands for attack(ground attack) hence they more robust and slower because of that.

I'a Dagon! I'a Hydra. I'a.. I'a..
Since this counts hulls, not on-duty ships with active combat air wings, the US has 21 carriers: 10 Nimitz and 2 Ford class nuclear carriers, plus 7 Wasp and 2 America class "amphibious assault" ships that already do or could quickly field F-35B air wings in a pinch. The latter are probably more capable than all but three or four of the boats from other nations counted here. And the difference in capability between the US nuclear carriers and all the others is so huge it essentially makes them a different kind of warship.

Well if the other country’s use Amphibious assault ships as Aircraft carriers then the United States has at least 22 Aircraft carriers!! The new F-35B is a game changer aircraft and its lethal....
And that's before you count what they have in reserve of real catapult type aircraft carriers.
In japan. It is not aircraft carrier, it is destroyer ship.
Gotta love political loopholes right? 😂
@@BIGJATPSU It is not classified as an aircraft carrier. Also, both of italy's aircraft carriers are very small. Meanwhile, British aircraft carriers can carry more aircraft than any country other than the US... And we have two of them!
@@conservativebrit1120 that's why I said politically loopholes. The Japanese government THEMSELVES have forbidden the country from having offensive aircraft carriers. So they call them "multi-purpose operation destroyers." Each is being refitted to carry up to 12 - F35B's just like on your QE class ships. And yes, your ships can carry at surge POSSIBLY up to 72 total aircraft making it the #2 in terms of capacity. But the normal load out will be more like 24-36 jets with copters. The Nimitz class, and eventually Ford class, at standard load out carry 64 jets plus copters and in times required are capable of housing and supporting 100+ jets if needs. But as Sir Alan West said, " The reason that we have arrived at what we have arrived at is because to do the initial strike package, that deep strike package, we have done really quite detailed calculations and we have come out with the figure of 36 joint strike fighters, and that is what has driven the size of it, and that is to be able to deliver the weight of effort that you need for these operations that we are planning in the future. That is the thing that has made us arrive at that size of deck and that size of ship, to enable that to happen. I think it is something like 75 sorties per day over the five-day period or something like that as well... I have talked with the CNO (Chief of Naval Operations) in America. He is very keen for us to get these because he sees us slotting in with his carrier groups. For example, in Afghanistan last year they had to call on the French to bail them out with their carrier. He really wants us to have these, but he wants us to have the same sort of clout as one of their carriers, which is this figure at 36. He would find that very useful, and really we would mix and match with that." So, welcome back to having a real Blue Ocean Navy again. The World won't like you much going forward, trust me.
@@BIGJATPSU 36 is not full load though. 12 is full load for the japanese "carriers". Britain has a far more capable navy than japan.
@@conservativebrit1120 Yes, I did say they could POSSIBLY carry up to 72 aircraft during a surge. But without being nuclear they probably couldn't sustain that for long.

Simple and great
You got to take into account that most of the USA's carriers are "Super-Carriers". They are nuclear powered, not diesel, and they are enormous!
USS Gerald Ford (the newest one) is the largest yet in the fleet. As a matter of fact, it's said to be the largest warship EVER constructed. In terms of naval fleet power, the US vs China is almost an absurd mismatch (soon to be 12 vs soon to be 3 carriers).
@@thunderbird1921 China doesn't need aircraft carriers; China simply needs the means to destroy aircraft carriers, and that comes in the form of the DF-17, a hypersonic glide vehicle that can destroy a carrier faster than she can hoist a white flag.
@@matthewwolff1438 It sure is too bad the Chinese can't and won't wage wars on poor people with impunity to test their weapon systems, much unlike the US. But good luck trying to stop a hypersonic projectile you can't see nor detect.
@@matthewwolff1438 "Unable to use stealth"? Hypersonic travel is inherently stealthy, because hypersonic travel creates an air pressure in front of the projectile, forming a plasma cloud as it moves, absorbing radio waves and making it practically invisible to active radar systems. This is not to mention that a hypersonic glide vehicle is designed to evade radar by undertaking an unpredictable trajectory by taking a low altitude, thereby evading the conical radio waves of radar.
Are you really that disillusioned by your superiority complex that you still think you're fighting the Taliban, which by the way, came out on top after decades of fighting?
@@matthewwolff1438 You're failing to take into account that capitalism, or rather feudalism, along with the Chinese civil war and the two Sino-Japanese wars completely decimated the Chinese economy, leaving the newly established People's Republic of China with little to fend for itself. Adding insult to injury, the US placed a trade embargo which further deprived the Chinese state of essential resources and hindered any form of international relief measures. As an agrarian society China is highly dependent on external circumstances to feed its people, with bad weather and natural calamities and droughts and floods causing recurring, extensive famines that has plagued China for millennia. Are you really going to blame communism for bad weather?
Embarrassingly enough for you, China and other socialist countries actually experienced a period of food security after it's tenuous establishment. According to a paper titled _"Economic Development, Political-Economic System, and the Physical Quality of Life"_ by Shirley Ceresto, PhD, and Howard Waitzkin, MD, PhD, using the World Bank as the principal source of statistical data, not only did China and other socialist countries have a higher caloric intake than capitalist nations, they also had a better infant mortality rate, literacy rates, life expectancy, child death rates and physicians per capita. "Killing 70+ million people"? Please.
Also, convenient must it be for you to gloss over the fact that capitalism has killed hundreds of millions more by priotising the profit motive above people's access to clean water, food, and healthcare to treat preventable diseases. Are you sure you're in a position to demonise socialism?
Italy will have Trieste as well able to carry F35B, so 3 carriers
China's building at least a third carrier as well, possibly a fourth also if intelligence reports are correct. Their navy's taking a major step up in the coming years. With India also building up, that standoff won't be restricted to the Himalayas much longer.
