Grant's face at the end hearing those great words from his wife i promise you is worth way more to him than anything. He really felt that one, don't think us guys don't forget such great words. It truly is the little things.
Absolutely! If a man knows you love and respect him, he will do anything for you. Today would have been my 32nd wedding anniversary. She passed in 2004 at the age of 39, but she was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. I am blessed.
Totally. I promise you; that's how Grant wakes up on the days where he's not feeling like he wants to fight an irrigation pump. That kind of love goes a long way.
I don't know...somehow this video was peaceful to watch. Summer evening, middle of a corn field, wrenching on a V8 with your besty. You guys rock! Been watching since the beginning. Don't ever change a thing! Peace and love! 🧡
About 45 years ago I saw an elderly couple (70's?) sitting on a park bench by the river chatting and giggling like teenagers on a second date. When I saw that I immediately thought 'I want that!' You two have the potential to have that. Best wishes!
My wife and I have been married 53 years. My last job in life was building homes and flipping them. I LOVED WORKING WITH MY WIFE.! Like you said to Grant that it was one of your biggest joys working with him! It brought tears to these old eyes. My wife was involved with everything in these homes. I built and she told me what colors and what sizes she wanted things. Yes, you guys will be together for many many years enjoying that special working connection. He beams when he watches you do stuff. You guys are perfect mates! Your kids will be so proud!!!! I’m proud for knowing you! 🥲🤗👍👋
Love the video. Wife and I have been married 23 years. Just yesterday we were doing chores mucking out our chicken house and duck run. Its a dirty job, but working together we got it done pretty fast. I've known her 42 years, but the last 23 have been wonderful.
My husband and I worked together for years as electricians. I've heard that "I could never work with my spouse " comment before many times. It takes patience, definitely a sense of humor and knowing when to leave work problems at work! Time away from each other is a must. Have to know which stresses are worth it and which to walk away from.
In my opinion, you all make the best content on UA-cam. It’s such a joy to watch married people be kind, supportive and respectful of each other, again, great content
You two are great together. Laura, people don't always realize you are not just spouses married to each other. You are best friends as well. Friends can work together even when spouses can't :) You have it covered! You two are so much fun!
Been fighting high blood pressure and going through changing my medications for it. It's been crazy high so, I watched the start of this video and bam! 127 over 83. Laura Farms has medicinal qualities. Thanks Dr Laura!
Before you said what you did at the end, I was already thinking how lucky you guys are to be able to work together so well. You are really lucky. Every man needs a Laura! X
Grant. you showed us again that being a farmer is like being a jack of all trades. You're a good man Charlie Brown. You two make a good team who work until the daylight is gone. That is some tall corn, and I'm glad that pepper has made herself feel right at home. Take care.
Running a Geo Tracker for actual work. You two have some impeccable taste. My respect for you two just blew through the sky. Not that I didn't have a ton of respect for you two already. Legends.
17:45 just one of many reasons grant and laura are relationship goals. awesome non-verbal communication. they work so well together, can be completely serious and completely goofy, are so aligned on their goals, know how to collaborate effectively without one bossing around the other, they listen with true attention and let the other speak, just fantastic.
Haha that last overlooked bolt will get you every time. You two share a special bond and deep lover for each other that is so very refreshing and good to see. You are a very special couple!!
That shout out at the end was really sweet. I think Grant really appreciated too. Love your channel! Very informative to us here in the Northeast that have never been on a farm. Thank you. 😊
It’s so funny listening to you talk about learning to drive a stick on a Geo Tracker 😂 When I was a kid on the ranch we didn’t have anything that was an automatic. We didn’t know any better. Never forget when my grandad brought home his new pickup with an automatic in it. Couldn’t help but stomp the floor where the clutch should have been. 😂
I learned on a 56 Ford with 2 vise grips on the shift studs on the transmission and a piece of rope through the firewall for a gas pedal. The first automatic I drove after having my own cars was my dad's '66 Olds Dynamic 88. I came down a bridge and was making a right turn when I stomped the floor with my left foot and threw the shift into park. There was a horrendous noise before the car came to a sudden stop. I realized what was happening as I was doing it but too late. I was doing mechanic work by then and was really embarrassed but I told my dad and friends anyway. It drove like a champ after that.
Another trick to keep the bolts in order is to trace the new water pump onto a piece of cardboard and then poke the bolts through in the spot they came from as you take them out.
Best thing to do when trying to keep track were the bolts go is to have a piece of cardboard draw something resembling the water pump and push the bolts through the cardboard where they would be on the pump. It also helps from losing the bolts.
Teamwork, dream work, husband & wife, sweethearts, and true Nebraska Farmers …. Keeping things running smoothly is major full time work, but you two always make it fun. Pepper’s looking like part of the family now….right at home 🏡 with two very happy people 😀❤️
You two are so enjoyable to watch together, even replacing a worn out water pump on an old (Ford?) petrol V8! - So much easier without a car body to have to work around! Tuff painted nails there, girl! Love your work, joy and enthusiasm, Laura and Grant. 😀❤🌽🌽🌽🚜🚙🔧
Me and my wife have worked together for over 20 years ! You guys will make it as long as you respect each other. Never lose respect for each other if you do you are doomed. You guys are amazing !
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. First of all. Laura you talked about working with your husband. You two are the greatest people. You both make it work. My compliments to both of you for your working relationship. It is the greatest!!!!!!! Pleasure to watch you work. Now back to farming. You did great getting the water pump changed and the irrigation system back on line. You both took it a step at a time and that works. Glad you got it going ok. Your corn crop looks wonderful. The ears are filling out great. You should have a great crop. Nice going Laura and Grant. Thanks for everything. Once again, lots of respect for both of you working together. Great!!!!! The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
Laura, I can see you both work well together by the smile you give Grant, and us. Laura it seems your voice sounds a bit croaky, I hope you feel okay. Your corn looks the best I have ever seen it, you should be having a good crop this year. Love to you both from Mike. ❤
Watching you two work together is a joy. So different than rocky Vermomt farming. I’ve started thinking of you as professor Wilson. Your explanation are precise and clear.
Ms Laura I love watching your videos my father in law farmed all his life I got involved with him after I Married his Daughter and I enjoyed working on the farm with my Wife Carol we have two daughters four grand daughters one grandson two great grandson and two great daughters. I Love watching you two working on the equipment. Stay safe and keep growing Corn❤
My wife and I work full-time together too. LOVE IT. Often people comment how they could NOT do that. So I'm glad to hear other married folks say how they enjoy it as much as we do!!!
It's been a great joy watching y'all grow! Laura, your smile makes Grant smile which then, makes me smile! You have the prettiest smile, no wonder Grant smiles a lot! Both of you are awesome people! ✌️😎🇺🇲
You two keep haven fun. If you don't want to be with your spouse all day then maybe a little reflection is needed on life choices. Just wait until kids come along, you'll be remembering those alone times you had together and be very happy you had them.
As a mechanic and a farmer I was wondering how long it was gonna take for the both of you to find that last bolt, hehe. Good work on the repair! Also one large ear of corn is better yielding than two smaller ears. At least here in SD it is, something my grandfather taught me. Bigger kernels take up more space than the smaller kernels. Regardless, that is not something you can control anyway. The crops do look very good there!
I always felt that if you had two ears, it meant you should have increased the plant population. Sadly, you don't know that till afterwards because it is partly determined from the weather. I would take 1 ear anytime, the second ear usually doesn't contribute much, but takes resources away from the 1st ear.
Very good point, I forgot about this. The second ear is telling us something. It's almost like the plant almost has too much available water/nutrients and can't do anything with it but to grow a second ear which probably won't fill out that well. Or maybe this is how they grow 300+ bushel corn! I've never farmed irrigated land so I don't know if two ears is a good thing or not. I just know our ears of corn where we farm are usually 16-22 rows around. Either way things were looking good!
Good job both of you. If something is stuck and doesn’t seem to want to come off with a wrench you might try heat. I use a camping size small propane tank screwed into a torch end. You could easily take this into the field. Then spray PB Blaster, or something similar. Anything stuck. Heat then penetrating spray. The heat expands the metal to loosen it up. Love watching you two work together.
Love your videos. Best practice for replacing a water pump is use thread sealer to keep the bolts from rusting out and torque the bolts in a criss cross pattern. It will help the pump last longer and make future repairs easier.
It never fails to amaze me how much the two of you have to know about *everything* mechanical on your farm, and every little detail about farming itself. Watching Laura diagnose corn in all of its stages is amazing. Just when I think I've learned the last hint, she teaches me something else. Grant, keep opening the door for her. Just cause. Love to you both.
You two are so fun to watch, partly because you don't let things keep you down, more so because you two are a great team. Great work on getting the water pump replaced and fixing the pump
I was thinking It was at this exact moment that she had to think something like He's sleeping on the couch in the barn for the next week for that mistake... lol
She has eyes that would have seen that last bolt, if she'd looked, and knew to look for one of those six sided thingys that hold things together. Grant didn't look until his Vise Grip attack failed.
Again a nice place to have your HF Magnetic tray for your tools and bolts so you can keep them together and not worry about them falling on the ground. maybe have a tool list in your phone notes fills so you can run a check list for the mostly always needed tools. if you don't like that make laminated sheets for each different types of Pivot jobs that you do with tools part and pry bars. Wondering of you might look for a sponsor like eco Flow as a place to get a portable power generator and have a charger and spare battery's for tools
Well Dear; if I watched a video of yours when you and Grant aren't smiling,,,,, I would think the world was coming to an end. Just your pretty smiles bring me outta the dumps, and thank you for that. I truly enjoy watching you and Grant work together. I worked on several farms over the past 40+ years and I have ALWAYS enjoyed working with farm couples, they just put me in an "UP" peace of mind for the day. You 2 are no different. Have a nice day!🙂
I loved seeing the GEO and the evening repair job. Great ending with it getting dark, the kind words, and in the GEO, where it all started. Love watching you guys.
Hopefully you put sealant on that bolt on the bottom left the one the water was coming out, its hole is tapped into the block water jacket/passage. That why water poured out of that hole.
Water was dripping out of many but gushed out of one. I used to use non hardening Permatex but RTV may work. Also, heat would have helped take that plug out.
Some married people can work together and some can't. It just depends upon the people. I was married to my wife and best friend for 48 years until she passed this year. We had a successful marriage. But when we worked at a business together she drove me nuts and I drove her insane. I'm very happy to see that you two can work together and wish you the best. Thanks for showing us that farming is a 24 hour job. Looking forward to your next video.
Hi there just saying from someone who had career of outdoor electronic installation work. Carrying a quart of super orange hand cleaner pump top and 5 gal water and a roll of industrial paper towel always made jobs go better. Also good for first aid needs. Take it from experienced old guy many years out there.
That RTV gasket (black sealant) should be allowed to set up for 30 minutes to an hour before fully tightening the bolts. Put it on as a 1/8 inch bead, hand tighten the bolts, let it set for 30 minutes and then fully torque the bolts. If you tighten it up to quickly the sealant squishes out and doesn't have enough compliance to form a good seal.
A couple of the bolts securing the water pump thread directly into the water jacket of the engine block and should be installed with thread sealant applied to the threads of the bolt.
I hear you Laura. My wife and I are besties and spend most of every day together. We love being together and it is clear you two do as well. And what a great thing to praise your spouse in public. Definitely reflected on grants face. Thanks for another enjoyable video.
I really really like your positive way to talk about each other - love to both of you from Denmark. Nice fix of the moters water pump. I have just change the water pump of my mothers VW car - with much less space. Enjoy the summer in NB 🙂
Hi Laura I had a Geo myself. It was Black with a Soft top black . My wife and I had it in Water up to the bumper lights . Never gotten stuck ever lots of FUN . Goe are fun to have ... You guys did a Great job on the Pump together... God bless you both 😮❤
I had a 1993 Suzuki Sidekick as my first car. I bought it new, and kept that for 13 years. I didn't have a place to store it, but wish I had been able to keep it around for a fixer-upper second vehicle.
Thanks so much for showing the true joys and challenges of farming! Even those pesky little issues of overlooking "one last bolt" holding the water pump secure (how many of us have done exactly that?! ) Or trying to break it loose from the mounting... or trying to get that ONE square plug loose from the old pump that you REALLY need in the new pump. Plus sealing up leaks, etc. Not everything goes as smoothly as hoped for... and I'm glad that you show those things too. Keep on doing what you're doing!
You two compliment each other very well. By the way, we never did see the old plug come out, and you never showed its being replaced but I assume you found a new one! ❤❤
That memory you shared at the beginning about pushing the Geo Tracker? Don't worry about having looked ridiculous. Those types of memories will stay with you for life, and keep you grounded. Also really loved the sentiment at the end of the video. You guys are special! ❤
It`s great to see y`all gitt`n `er done and enjoying it. I had Tr acker for a daily driver and made it home thru a major blizzard in 2012. Good little machine.
Laura, this was a special video for me to watch as it reminded me of the first video of you that I watched. It was like two or three years ago and one of the things that caught my eye was that you were replacing a water pump on a V8 engine which was on a stand in your shop. I watched with fascination as you went through the process and still had long beautiful fingernails at the end. A girl working on an engine? Yeah, I could follow that, but to still have beautiful nails after the fact? No, you had to have some kind of magic or something.
A Ford V8 engine, I like your irrigation videos. A simple motor pushing all that water to water 100's of acres makes it nostalgic in a way. A time when things were simpler. Nebraska looks like a cool place to live...
You guys are so cute together! Heartwarming story of Ya'lls relationship. Excellent video about replacing water pump on engine! Really enjoy your videos!! Always so interesting & informative!
Laura and Grant you two are very fortunate to have what can only be described as a calm loving relationship have the same goals in life and although you say you work together that is not all the time you both get to do different things but when a hand is needed you excel together. And Laura when things get dirty and oily wear gloves I hate to see those lovey manicured nails becoming damaged.
hi guys , hey ya ought to invest in a small acetylene torch set up and a shop torch setup that way like when you needed that pipe plug out of that water pump you could have heated it and more than likely it would have came out . another suggestoin for shop equipment is a plasma cutter .
I can totally relate to your last comments about working with Grant. My wife and I have worked side by side for 37 plus years and love it. You two rock!
I always learn from your posts. My farming was in the East and very different. As a mechanic I learned that doing a project similar to your water pump with different length bolts, with them started one thread in ( which you should always do by hand to prevent cross threading) the length of bolts sticking out should be very similar. Also some antiseize on the bolts will make next time easier. I also love working with my spouse, Keep up the great work. \
Way to go guys. I work with my wife as well in our company. We also work on our extra large hobby farm together. I say extra large because it’s a bit beyond hobby. We also go to church together as well. We are much older than you guys so it’s nice for me to see a couple with the love of Christ in the mist.

I promise you; that's how Grant wakes up on the days where he's not feeling like he wants to fight an irrigation pump.
That kind of love goes a long way.
God bless you both of you

Another trick to keep the bolts in order is to trace the new water pump onto a piece of cardboard and then poke the bolts through in the spot they came from as you take them out.

Bought a few shirts. You two are serendipity and soul mates in a corn field. It's a beautiful thing to see.
It's always impressive to see you both solve whatever problem the farm throws your way. Nice work!
It's very nice of you to see you working with so much passion. Working big together. I love it. Roger from Belgium. ❤❤❤❤
Hi Laura & Grant, It is cool seen how the corm develops during the growing season and how you take care of your equipment! Thanks for sharing! Ken
You two compliment each other very well. By the way, we never did see the old plug come out, and you never showed its being replaced but I assume you found a new one! ❤❤
Hello
New here
I love Laura soo much
You can tell this guys ain't typical mechanic the way he handle the tools & the entire equipment ....Hes trying 😂😂
One thing about you channel is you can definitely learn something, you are a great teacher. Thanks from a non farmer
Cups are running over in this video! That feeling when the repair was successful, and you love the one you're working with!
That memory you shared at the beginning about pushing the Geo Tracker? Don't worry about having looked ridiculous. Those types of memories will stay with you for life, and keep you grounded. Also really loved the sentiment at the end of the video. You guys are special! ❤
Awwwwwww, what a gift to be able to work together so well. You are blessed!
That corn was awesome, when I grew up late 60''s early 70's we grew cron for silage for our feedlot. So yeah late July and that corn is beautiful.
Great story, great couple. Well done!
Good idea to always check bolts by hand use a ratchet and get a feel for tightness you guys are the best.
2:19 Crank windows! I haven't seen those in decades!! Awesome.
Laura, as I watch this I chuckle because we are wearing the exact same shirt color and all. Corn is looking fantastic.
The greatest gift is a compliment like that. God Bless you and your family.
GEO Tracker = "original" side-by-side four-wheeler!
The older couple is still probably laughing about Laura
pushing the Tracker after church!
Hats off to you and Grant, that’s the best looking stands of corn I’ve ever seen…great channel, keep up the great work.
Wow, such wonderful admonishing of Grant !
That's very nice !
hi guys , hey ya ought to invest in a small acetylene torch set up and a shop torch setup that way like when you needed that pipe plug out of that water pump you could have heated it and more than likely it would have came out . another suggestoin for shop equipment is a plasma cutter .
I can totally relate to your last comments about working with Grant. My wife and I have worked side by side for 37 plus years and love it. You two rock!
So good to see how happy you both are working together.
Thank you for being the best of friends.
You two make a great team/couple. That's what it takes to be successful. Keep them video's coming.. P.S. Corn on the cob is the best summer food...
You two are truly inspirational
my wife and I own a construction company, and we do everything together. Keep it going!!
We just love your channel. Laura, you and Grant a neat couple who work together very well. Cool video. 👍❤️
I'm glad to see Grant in a lot more videos ever since you guys bought your own land/homestead.
You guys are so cute!!!! Many more happy years together for you both!!!!
God has blessed your marriage, your crops, your family and your business. CLEARLY!!
It’s nice to see both of you working together wish my wife was more into engine like you Laura thanks for sharing both of you
You two are truly blessed to have found each other ! 👍🏻

Make that pop corn. Excellent video
Wonderful to see the team work that you and Grant have together!!😎💪😎
Greasy fingers with classy nail polish. What an elegant lady!
Way to go guys. I work with my wife as well in our company. We also work on our extra large hobby farm together. I say extra large because it’s a bit beyond hobby. We also go to church together as well. We are much older than you guys so it’s nice for me to see a couple with the love of Christ in the mist.
Grant and his ViceGrips. :D Love it.
Don't forget Laura & her trusty pliers! Can't break dem painted nails!
