Its incredible to see Fantasia grow as both a performer and as a person. There has always been a tangible fire and determination inside Fantasia. True talent cannot be held down or ignored and I love that the world is getting to see her talent on the big screen. For a while especially here in the UK, I felt as though I was the one and only Fantasia fan and it appeared that Fantasia was going under the radar for a little while in America as well so its even more incredible that Fantasia (I hope) will generate new fans of her work because of this Colour Purple platform.
America raised us I love her so much, Fantasia's voice will make me cry in the color purple I'm so excited these gorgeous black ladies are so deserving in Hollywood, Emily and Julian are multifaceted with their acting choices. The sisterhood though of them giving gems to Fantasia.
@davidlovesfilmI saw an early screening and loved it, it received a standing ovation from the entire theatre at the end. It’s pretty much the same songs from the Tony award winning Broadway musical, the only difference is Fantasia doesn’t play both young and old Celie like she did on broadway. In the film she only plays adult Celie, so Fantasia isn’t on screen until Celie becomes an adult.
@davidlovesfilmWow! What movie did you see my brother? If you haven't lived or can relate to the cultural experience, get knowledge first. Same here, when i seen it, the applause was astounding. The movie was great. As a black man, i understood the universal themes, we as a people fight everyday in life and to see it that on screen and how joyous we always come through was great. Theres only so much you can put in a 2 1/2 -3 hr movie. .
@davidlovesfilm it actually does use more of the text from the book than the original. Besides they are 2 different movies. We see enough of our plight in movies, its time to show that in all that we go through as a people, we can still rejoice and that's what i enjoyed about this reimagining of the book/broadway version. And again, this version, ALL people can relate too. Also, no need to be angry brother, healthy dialogue is good. You cant put everything in a 2 1/2-3 hr movie, even the original took alot of liberties and left stuff out.
@davidlovesfilm Again, we will agree to disagree. I enjoyed the healthy dialogue. It's good that there are two versions of the book. There's stuff thats in this version that wasn't in the first version and vice verse. Same with the broadway play. Everyone did a great job with the musical numbers and acting was on point and i truly enjoyed that we get to explore Celie's imagination.
as German who watches Hollywood round tables since like forever it's weird to see her there too. She's very interesting though regardless the nationality and accent
I really appreciated what Julianne said about the mythology of being lost in a role. It made me think of Evan Peters and his incredible portrayal of Dahmer. It was such a heavy and obscure role to play, so I could understand how dipping in and out of it would be difficult to do, but living in it and staying in that mindset 24/7 would definitely be destructive. He has come off as more reserved in interviews, so I'm glad he's taking a break and has mentioned he wants to eventually do lighter fare, which he deserves. Hopefully we see him in a comedy or something lighthearted soon.
I knew Fantasia was amazing the moment I first heard that voice on Idol and I’m glad she is finally getting her flowers. She is beautiful inside and out.
This was fun, watching all these talented actresses together in interesting conversation about their performance in recent movies was amazing to listen to,good movies to watch !
Sandra Huller was masterful in ‘Anatomy of Fall’. IMO she should win all awards but she won’t as Acadamy has a bias towards foreign performances. Europeans are too cold for their taste so they will go for someone American and safe.
Are you sure? Last I checked, Emily Blunt isn't American nor is Carey Mulligan, who though not a part of this gathering, is considered a front runner for best actress. Or, are you saying the English aren't Europeans?
@@rics1883 -- Now, that's a more precise and factually accurate statement. Only Sophia Loren and Marianne Cotillard have won the Academy Award for Best Actresses in non-English speaking roles.
@@eme.261 Yeah it's crazy how incredible European performances are swept under the rug, yes it's acadamy mostly focused on American movies but so many gems are snubbed unfortunately. Sandra Huller at this table is like the literal definition of the hydrogen bomb versus coughing baby meme
hahahahaha
Huller is one extraordinary woman!

We love Fantasia
Its incredible to see Fantasia grow as both a performer and as a person. There has always been a tangible fire and determination inside Fantasia. True talent cannot be held down or ignored and I love that the world is getting to see her talent on the big screen.
For a while especially here in the UK, I felt as though I was the one and only Fantasia fan and it appeared that Fantasia was going under the radar for a little while in America as well so its even more incredible that Fantasia (I hope) will generate new fans of her work because of this Colour Purple platform.
So refreshing to hear your insights. This is such an awesome forum. Thank you!!
Soooo happy they invited Sandra and America ❤
America raised us I love her so much, Fantasia's voice will make me cry in the color purple I'm so excited these gorgeous black ladies are so deserving in Hollywood, Emily and Julian are multifaceted with their acting choices. The sisterhood though of them giving gems to Fantasia.
Can’t wait to see Fantasia in TCP!!
So happy Eve Hewson has found brilliant Irish ☘️roles in Bad Sisters and now Flora and Son! So wonderful to see her shine! 🌟
Fantasia was amazing in The Color Purple. As was the entire cast. It’s a movie for the ages and we’re lucky to witness it.
Sandra Huller brings simplicity and intelligence
I'm excited I've always loved Fantasia since her season of American Idol I can't wait to see the color Purple 💜💜😊
Theres only so much you can put in a 2 1/2 -3 hr movie.
.
@davidlovesfilm Sounds like you really want to convince everyone that the movie is bad lol
Sandra Hüller ❤
as a german, it’s so weird to see Sandra Hüller at this table, but so amazing.
Sandra deserves to be at that table!
Get used to it, LOL --- she's the best one at that table!!! 🇩🇪 She's incredible 😍 I live in Leipzig and she was at the Passage Kino last week!!!!!!!!
as German who watches Hollywood round tables since like forever it's weird to see her there too. She's very interesting though regardless the nationality and accent
I love how supportive they were of Fantasia. She has shown us all that powerhouse voice for years, but I think she has a bright future in film!
Great conversation & great moderator.
I had a nice time watching this Actresses Roundtable 2023 :)
Best video I've watched on UA-cam in a long time!
So proud of Fantasia!! She is amazing and so Humble!!
Sandra Huller is just amazing ; she is for the best actress ever
@@eme.261 Nonenglish speaking performances don't tend to win a lot. Especially female ones.
E.g: Last year's 'Corsage' Vicky Krieps was incredible in it, Isabelle Huppert for 'Elle' etc etc.
I wish Sandra Huller gets the deserved attention from industry. She was so effortless in 'Anatomy of Fall'. Currently, Lily Gladstone is the frontrunner which was also an incredible performance, would not mind winning that one.
@@eme.261…actually, the English are saying that (sorry, couldn’t resist).
Sandra Hueller's flawless performance in Anatomy of a Fall blew me away!! My new fav actress. I'm going to watch The zone of interest next. What a great movie AOAFall and sandra and Milo's performances mind blowing!! Deserve Oscar nominations!!
Check out 2016's film 'Toni Erdmann'. A comedy/drama. SHE IS BRILLIANT!!
the best round table I have ever seen
Anatomy of a fall is just an amazing movie. Kudos to Sandra.
I like how Fantasia could bring her experience in stage and music to this table to bring a different perspective and ask them different questions.
I love Fantasia. She speaks from the heart. Amazing. ❤
SANDRA HULLER DESEEEEEERVES THAT OSCAR PLEASE I BEG YOU 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Great conversation!
Great actors all of them!
I'm actually really surprised that Sandra Hüller is doing this. She seems so private.
She's just not an American 😂
Well she is campaigning to get the oscar nomination
She is very private and is not aiming for awards nor the Hollywood glitz and glam. And she deserves a place at the table and I’m glad she’s doing this 🎉
@@sunflowermyeyes9758 that's just funny and hypocrite. Of course she's aiming for that. That's why she's putting in the effort to be the best in acting. Hollywood validation would gain her more fame and more projects. She may reject the hollywood atmosphere but for sure she wants validation of her job
I was lucky enough to be able to take a day off from work and see Barbie and Oppenheimer on the same day. Best decision I've ever made.
They were listening attentively to Sandra Huller when she was speaking. English is not her main language but she speaks it well.
@@tng2022 🙄
@@skip031890
She grow up in eastern germany, they learned russian not english in school.
@@muncangel5993dude she doesn't even speak Russian. That's way older people like in their 60s and up. I live in former East Germany, trust me.
Sandra Hüller 👑👑👑👑
I love Sandra´s performance in Anatomy of a Fall. Wonderful! She deserves a lot of praise. An emotionally demanding role. But all the other perfomances in the movie were great - the son, the lawyer, the dog. They all did an exquisite job.
It's so funny because I'm sure people who haven't seen Anatomy of a Fall think it's a joke when fans mention the dog...but Snoop actually acted so well! I remember the start of the movie when Snoop discovers the body, l thought "How did they get the dog to act like that?!"
