The Biggest Problem With Resin Coasters is…
Warning: Important Health and Safety Notice:
Resin is an industrial chemical and as such should always be treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken. Here is a video I have made on how I keep myself safe: • Stop Making Yourself I... - Навчання та стиль
Thank you so much for this video, Steve! It was a tremendous help with a project I messed up at Christmas! I made a cutting board for a 93 year old lady with a picture of her and her "angels", but I messed up a corner of it. After watching this video, I was able to fix it and gave it to her for her birthday last month! She loved it!!
That's awesome! Thank you! Those coasters are really great and I love that holder, too!
I love tbat you seek to teach as well as show your projects
Thank you. I love what I do.
❤ Thank you so much Steve. You are such a great teacher and a blessing to me. I always learn from you. ❤
Love you and your art, many thanks you for showing us what to do as well as what to do!
Hi Steve, here's an idea for a future video: I'd love to see how you store your jewelry items between shows. I've put mine on jewelry cards for display and then just put them in a box. Of course they get unorganized and tangled. Hoping for better suggestions.
Thanks!
I am so glad I found this video! New to resin and have about 10 coasters in the trash pile. I am going to try these fixes! Thank you
Love this video and would love to see more of video repairing pieces. Thank you for sharing, Take care ♥
To stop edges when epoxy shrink, or minimise a lot, I use a bit of silicone oil around the edge before pouring resin into the mold. That work great on my projects, the resin follow down while shrinking instead of sticking to the side and leave an edge.
Well done on creating the issues. I've never even seen resin shrink before. Useful video indeed
Those colors are beautiful now I have to try and mess up and see what I get😂
Hiya Steve,
When the resin goes down a bit don't de-mould it.
Leave it in the mould to fill it up with the resin. This way you don't have to worry about the resin rolling down on the sides ❤️
They are beautiful, even with the matte, freshly sanded surface; sanding made it look like unpolished natural stone.
Thanks!
Thanks so much I got my set of coaster molds today and can't wait to make them this weekend after seeing your tricks!
I absolutely love these coasters. Very pretty, even if you made them to demo corrections. Great video.
Thank you Steve for sharing your expertise
I learn so much from u ❤ thanks for doing these videos I hope u get all the awesomeness u deserve! I realized that 1 reason my coasters weren't coming out good was because of the wrong resin, and I learned that because of you! I learn so much other stuff too, but that was a coaster specific thing :) Thanks 4 putting out videos, and I hope your new place is a happy place 4 u, and that you are all healthy and healed up from the shingles.
Very difficult to make a mistake on purpose lol
Very lol.
So many great pointers, thanks Steve!
Thanks for sharing these tips, Steve. 👍🏻
I liked the dull rough rock like look
Great tips as always Steve. Thank you! 😊
Thanks Steve this is very informative the coasters turned out pretty
It’s a shame we can’t get that resin in Australia
Top tip: If you’re trying to flatten something by sanding it, put the sandpaper on a piece of tempered glass. Glass is always super flat and basically guarantees that you won’t have uneven pressure on the coaster as you sand it. Mirror is good, too, as long as it’s thick enough!
Great tips
Thank you.
Awesome. Can you do that with any resin?
Most resins will leave a dome. This one is designed for giving a flat finish. 😀
Thank you!
Can you show us how to fix the dreaded bubble along the edge?
Steve how do you cover the items coated in resin to protect them from dust while they are curing? What do you normally use? Loved the video. The last coasters in the hexagonal shape looked like they were made of glass, so that is a very good resin obviously. God bless you and your family. Have a lovely weekend.
It’s opposite day!
Steve could you do a video on how to fix a lid where you missed bubbles on the edge after it's cured thanks
Thank you Steve! I've seen tutorials of doing it both ways but never seeing one used and the resulting abrasions. It's very timely due to warmer weather being around the corner(🤞) and having windows open to work with resin. I've heard of wet sanding but never realized the difference it would make.i want to make them for Christmas presents😊! The wet sanded coasters look so beautiful!!!💜🩶🩷
Thanks Steve!! These are awesome instructions and helpful!!
Is the easy coat harder than the regular 1:1 Texpert?
can you do a similar vodeo for UV resin? Also is UV resin not sandible for some reason.
2:31 what is 'squidywidgy' and 'reduce it down'?
❤❤
👍🏻
I rather like the dull finish. Makes it look like a honed stone. 🤷
I thought what do you mean you cannot find your leveling boards. And then “oh yes, he just moved” I am still finding stuff and I have been here a year and it is only 450 sq feet. How could any one lose anything, and yet I manage!
Epoxy is self leveling, meaning you could just flip the coaster to the ‘worst side’ put it back in the mold and pour a bit of epoxy resin on top and it will level off smooth.
Iv done that on fishing rods and other epoxy resin projects as the top layer makes no difference to the look at that point.
Your videos are so educational and have really helped me as I’m really new to resin art BUT do you intentionally talk really loud?
I promise you I’m not a troll. Sometimes I just get a bit of a jump when wearing headphones. Awks
