    As a NW Alabama native, just like Jason (who I used to see play at a Mexican restaurant called LaFonda's way back when) I'm just happy to hear someone pronounce his last name correctly. Is-bull :)

    As a huge fan of the Drive-By-Truckers, I have been listening to Jason Isbell for at least twenty years. One of THE BEST song-writers and guitar players of all time. I have seen the 400 Unit around 7 times and these guys are absolutely incredible live. His awards are very well deserved.

      As a longtime fan I am biased, but I don't think Jason can never be hyped enough :-) I regularly well up listening to him and I'm 65.

Everybody knows on some level by now, that we are where we are as a global society is because of too many people being caught up in their inner struggles without finding representation in popular culture - Due to the role-identities imposed on them traditionally!

      Country music is having a resurgence of talented singer songwriters like Sturgill Simpson, Ryan Bingham, Tyler Childers, Margo Price, and Colter Wall and others. The problem is you won’t find them on the radio. The record labels have been destroying originality for half a century.

    This guy has ‘reach’ that might not be fully appreciated on your side of the pond.
    His writing is so universal, he has created a significant following in the UK & Europe.

      I would trade you Springsteen, and Young, plus any other songwriter of your choosing, just to keep Jason Isbell. I'm from the same place his people are from; we may even be kin. I like to think so.
      Sometimes a man IS appreciated in his own country, be he prophet or otherwise.

      I don't think he would appreciate that trade. Music is like scholarship - it builds on itself and the greatest musicians create chords that echo across generations. Without Young and Springsteen, there is no Isbell.@@MelissaThompson432

    When I first stumbled across his music I was at the lowest point of my life up to that time. So many of his songs felt like they were talking straight to me. Love, loss, work. With Weathervanes that has still been the same. Among the greatest lyricist and songwriters as far as I am concerned

    Never heard of him, the song was beautiful, he is a talent for sure. Knowing the meaning behind that song made it all the more meaningful, very nice.

      "If We Were Vampires" as well as "Elephant" are 2 of the most beautifully written songs I've ever heard. Absolute gut-punches. When he wrote these, people were already saying he may be the best song-writer of the century so far. This guy is very VERY special.

    I love this show so much, and Jason you're beautiful, can I maybe please request as a long time watcher to alter the intro and outro audio to be lvled at the same volume as the rest of the video? I was so chill from Jason's mood, then "DUH DADADADA." I don't need my coffee now. It's a waste. lol. I'll keep watching of course even if y'all don't find the time, I just wanted to give some constrictive criticism.

    Tbh, I wash mine but it’s part of regular tender loving care. It was made in the 30s, it’s been mine since the 90s. ❤

      I've always washed my skillets. You just have to fully dry them and occasionally wipe them with oil and heat it up.
      I _don't,_ however, walk where I can't see my feet. Can't do it. Especially in water. But also in tall grass. Mice like tall grass. Snakes like mice.

      That's part of the point of the song. Back in the day, lye soap would ruin cast iron, but modern dish soap is fine. It's an old adage that people still hold to even when it isn't accurate for the times.

    I just saw Jason in Chicago four days ago. I was fairly close to the stage, close enough to see something was different about him. Looks like he got new teeth. I really liked his natural teeth. They were not the prettiest, but to me they were part of his persona of being open and honest about who he is. BUT I just read that he was having a lot of issues with them and he really didn't have much choice if he wanted to continue singing. Maybe I'll get used to them...someday.

      @@alexandermarcus1497 I tend to like artists/bands in their early days, before producers/agents/promoters get ahold of them and slick them over...music and image. I'm going to see Tyler Childers for the first time next month and I love his on-stage "working-man" look. But I also read an interview where the interviewer described him as wearing a linen suit with a fedora and some kind of Moroccan leather slippers. That don't sound much like a Kentucky boy who loves his mules and hounds, now does it? As long as he keeps it real on stage I don't care what he does in his personal time. 👍

    Im a relative late comer to the Jason Isbell wagon. Probably got on a couple years ago. But i can say hes one of the great American songwriters. But i have to smile at the irony of his being a guest on this show. When i see him in a $1200 LV shirt i have to think of his line in “When We Were Close”, when he sings to the subject of the song “and your shirt cost more than your guitar” 😂. Well ok that looks like a Martin d28 at least and worth $3k but i had to laugh. I loved his solo version of cast iron skillet though!

      @joedian1399 the song lyric you’re referencing is talking about a long time ago, specifically describing JTE, when they were both relatively unknown. A lot has changed since then. It’s sad they both didn’t make it through the harder times.
