These sound like something I can actually afford. Those inner lenses, which I assume my optician can grind to my prescription, look intriguing. Definitely worth a try!
My pair is coming in later today. Thanks for your review. Excellent and very helpful for Mac users like me! Now want to see how it works with iOS for my iPhone and iPad mini 6 (USB C). Just wish someone would explain how these things work for those few of us who wear corrective lenses. I understand the prescription frame but can I use then with the glasses I have; at least for awhile? If I connect these glasses to my ipad mini, can I take a walk/exercise while wearing? Is there some substitute for the trackpad or mouse? Vision Pro uses eye positioning and fingers... Yeah, something like that.
How do you find the resolution? Can you see distinct pixels?
you did a great job with the screen recordings and translucent perspective overlays! I was wondering how you did it when others couldn't. Now i know and it's a a wonderful job!
Did you try out the Viture? Seems like Xreal needs the Beam to do more functions and seemed bigger. Curious if you had try Viture (recently rated Editor's choice in XDA)? Your high quality recordings if you actually have a chance to review them would be great.
How comfortable is it to look at the keyboard while working? They have OLED screens, what about burn-in with a static picture?
Definitely considering
Great video, im sold on them now!
I purchased one years ago and sent back because i could not see the edges of the screen clearly and the fixed displaywas a bad experience but now I am considering byuing it again for one reason: being able to use my computer outdoors in the sun
Wow, an affordable option!? Pretty tempting! Thank you!
It really is!
Thanks for the review. How stable is it in space when you fix the screens in front of you as a desktop setup ?
Very stable when you move your head normally, when you move it very fast, there is some wobble.
they look great and affordable
Love the videos! Can you do a side by side with the new Rokid Max VS a real Air 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing, whats a great tech item! Love to know how the battery will be drained by Xreal Air?
That depends on the device I suppose.
ORDERED!!!!
Will you review the Xreal Beam?
whats the max resolution you can have on it? i want it for working on Mac, im coming from a quest 3 (but not comfortable for daily basis) so i was thinkin on rokid or this one, my current setup its 1 screen 3440x1440 and 2x 1920x1080
Can the glass be connected to M1 Macbook Air directly - without using Beam?
How would you compare editing in Final Cut using these glasses vs. your MacBook’s Retina display in terms of picture quality? Would you recommend this for someone who needs to see every fine detail while editing a video in Final Cut or editing photos in Photoshop?
I'd describe it as workable. So definitely not the same as a high resolution display at your desk.
Outstanding info. Great cinematography. Now to try my new macbook 13 " air and xreal air!
Thanks!
hey just sore your vid great work. are you using the beam to stabilise the image more when using nebula for Mac?
I would now, but at the time of shooting I didn't have a bean available.
I need these for the Steam Deck and ROG Ally
Thanks for the review Patrick. I too get nauseous wearing glasses like these but my issue is caused by an inner ear problem. It's a shame because these look like they might be fun to use.
Ah man that sucks.
@@PatrickRambles It has its limitations. It's why I won't buy high end ear buds, the money would be wasted on my old ears. In the grand scheme of things however it's a very minor complaint.
Да, я задумываюсь о покупке таких очков ) Это просто безумно круто!
How do you get nebula app on Mac book?
Waiting for the Windows app and the xbeam to arrive
I’ll let you know if I get the new that’s coming out soon
Already have a pair. Sadly the windows app is only a very rough beta and is nowhere near usable yet but fingers crossed for the updates
Any updates on the Windows Beta app?
I wish I had these on my recent plane ride. the OG switch screen is too small the big screen would've made gaming on the go more comfortable.
Definitely want these for night time coding and especially when travelling abroad... more cost effective than apple vision pro also I can use them in the UK right?
You can use them in the UK but I wouldn't compare these to full blown VR glasses. Think of them as a larger screen for your device. Image quality is decent, I'm not sure if it will be good enough for long coding sessions.
how can you do the cimeatic curved mode? i can't seem to find that in the nebula app
are the colors accurate compared to MacBook Pro display? I would like to use these for movies watching.
Yep, and crisp
@@PatrickRambles wow! Now I'm very interested.
I thought you were going to explain how we could connect it to the Mac computer do we have to buy additional accessories or does it connect wirelessly
USB cable dangling off the side. I thought that was clear.
Can I change the aspect ratio of the display? For example, can I make the display the same ratio as an ultra wide?
I don’t think that is possible (yet)
When using this can you join zoom calls and screen share? What is the resolution of the screens?
It will look like you are wearing sunglasses in the meeting. Yes all apps function normally
I have them but no compatible andriod phone. Waiting on the Beam. I have a older mac book pro with a firewire port. What do I need tyo hook it up or should I just wait for the Beam? I did get them to work with my Roku box but no sound through the glasses.
I am also waiting for the Beam, will defo be a game changer
Great video mate! You have a new like and a new subscriber as well. Keep doing this good job.
Awesome, thank you!
Quite interesting, actually. I still prefer the monitor setup, I get nauseous with this gear on my head. Once they ship to Canada, I might pick some up.
I do too normally. Not with this one so far. I prefer monitors too but when I don't have them, this works 🙌
Goede video Patrick. Zijn deze beschikbaar in Nederland of alleen in de VS?
Goede vraag! Ik al eens checken.
what happens with resolution ? how much does the mac recognize when the lens are connected ? 4k ? 2k ? less ?
no sadly, it recognize 1080p like resolution with 120hz
When blacking out the background can you choose a virtual background?
Good question, let me get back to you on that.
At 5:19, there is a triangular gadget with a big yellow cord. What is it?
Thanks for this awesome rundown. Just so I'm clear, you don't need the Xreal BEAM for the stuff on Mac you showed, right?
Nope. I don't have the BEAM
@@PatrickRambles Awesome thanks for the reply... wow this alone has pushed me that much closer to getting myself a used M1 Macbook Pro 14 inch! It really is exactly what I was looking for without spending the absolute joke amount Apple expects for their upcoming product.
What does the BEAM do then? Improves the gaming experience?
@@dslaga As I understand, the (free) nebula app (on Mac and I think now on Windows) provides the functionality described in this video, but you need the BEAM for other devices (because those devices either don't support installing plugins like Nebula or XREAL simply isn't offering said software for them).
Can you do another video about using it with iPad and/or iPhone? Can you use your iPhone pro to have multiple screens? With outside keyboard and mouse do you even need iPad?
Reading more comments, I’m realising just mirror on iPads, probably just mirror on iPhone then?
the random guy watching you! like WTH?🤣 enjoy your videos! 👍
Haha that was wild. I didn't realize after I watched the footage LOL
Do you know what the “resolution” of each display is? Or if it’s a set size or can be changed?
Like can I have 3 5k monitors? Lol
I think it's capped at 2x1080p, but it's OLED, so it's crispy 🙌
@@PatrickRambles thank you. That means I need to wait for different iterations later when the limits go away
I wonder how the Apple Vision Pro will compare in terms of Screen resolution
Are you able to use these with an actual external monitor? For example, I use a drawing tablet but it would be nice to have a couple virtual screens floating above the physical tablet and use them together.
When I hook it up whilst my MacBook is docked and hooked up to my external display, it bugs out. Not sure if that's a work in progress but for now, in my experience, that doesn't work too great.
@@PatrickRambles ah okay. Thank you! I guess for this price it’s worth trying!
That's how I see it. It's a great way to get into AR at a very reasonable price.
It just does not work on MacBook Air M2. The Nebula app make the screen flat black and so it looks in the glasses
Can it stick the virtual window to a desk? The window can be 2D or 3D, you can move around that window and see all dimensions. That is what vision pro can do.
Let's see what vision pro can do when it's available. Anyone can make a promo video.
You can do everything you saw with the Immersed app and several different vr headsets already on the market if you're into wearing bulky headgear for long periods of time.
Do I need the Xreal Beam to connect with macbook or xbox? Or are the standalone glasses good to go?
You don't need the beam but it will make your experience better.
@@PatrickRambles Do you need the beam to make the virtual screen stay still in the space(when you move your head, the screen don't move)?
I’d like to see how well they work with USB-C iPads.
works great , i watch all of mi movies from the ipad with this lenses
Crisp larger image of your iPad screen, no Nebula app functionality
what is the max resolution of one virtual screen ? for example, if you set your 14'' MBP in native mode (settings > displays > advanced > select 'show resolutions as list then "DONE" > select "show all resolutions" > set to 3024 x 1964 ...
... and then, what do you see in the glasses in mirror mode ? a rasterized version of your laptop, @3024x1964 ?
If yes, is it usable ?
did you get any answer?
@@joaquingamboa5429 as i bought the Xreal air, yes I have my answer
Theses AR glasses are only usable for gaming or watching movies
Working on a computer is a joke. The FoV is top small, as any FoV under 70-80° minimum.
Add the low resolution 1080p per eye, doesn’t allows a clean and sharp virtual screen for all resolutions above 1920x1080, even at that size it is barely usable, it’s ok with a lower res, but what is the point to plug an AR glasses to a laptop that will offer you a sharp 1920x1080 res, in order to have something smaller, and blurry ?
@alexandrevery did you download the app on your computer?
@@PatrickRambleswhat app ?
@@alexandrevery Nebula. It's the app you need to display things properly.
do i need xreal beam
Does anyone know if the glasses hinder typing if one isn’t quite good enough to fully touch type without looking down?
Are there any lagging issues with sound?
Nice video!
Thanks! No lagging but if you need to look whilst you type, it can get annoying.
@@PatrickRambles thanks for responding. Subscribed!
@@JR-tt9pg 🙏🏻🙏🏻
As a tech geek I really want a pair of these. How is the interaction with a mouse and keyboard?
Just like on a regular display. Latency is very low.
@@PatrickRambles so is it pretty easy to look down at your keyboard when needed?
“Being a productivity nerd” ❤❤❤
Self awareness is key 🤓
Is this the Air 1 you are reviewing with?
Yep
Thanks!
The beam that xreal is shipping this month is gonna be a game changer for iPhone users
I think so too.
@@PatrickRambles Can you explain what the beam is? Do i need beam?
This is exactly what I want but I'm concerned about the resolution. The display seems to only be 1080 and since the virtual monitor is only using a part of this, I suspect it's all gonna look quite blocky.
It's two displays, one each eye. It's actually very crisp 👌
@@PatrickRambles I wish I could try this 😀
nebula app doesn’t work on my macbook air
Do these work with IPad?
They do, but currently only as a screen mirror, i.e. no Nebula app. But since they're is a nebula app for Mac, perhaps we will see one for iPad soon too.
How could you type in these? Could you see the keyboard in your Macbook Pro?
Do you look at your keyboard when you type?
@@PatrickRambles Not always, but sometimes. I can type while looking at the screen, but still.
It’s crazy how technology is advancing..
4:40 what’s the resolution for each virtual screen?
I would like to know this when you are using 2 & 3 virtual monitors
Who’s code do you use for your gym shark threads?
Code?
@@PatrickRambles do you not use influencer’s codes for extra €€% off?! At the moment gymshark are using extra20 as a code. I don’t work for them, I just thought you might have a favourite gymstagrammer who plugs their code a lot.
Bought these earlier this week and they arrive today. I am writing this comment using the XReal Glasses. Nebula was offered as a way to view 3 screens at once. Guess what? doesn't work with Sonoma. I assume Apple locked it up in anticipation of the release of Apple Vision. A little bit of a waste, imo. It was on the website and on the Amazon ad as well stating it would work. Not sure what I will do with them now though. Kinda bummed.
I don't like 3d monitors but 3d on these seems better to me you can accept it more as reality.
They're very low threshold in my opinion, but in use and in price. Perfect entry into AR.
So when will we fellow Dutchies be able to order these?
Nog even geduld dus. Maar zijn ze volgens jou het kopen wel waard?
Do these work with the Steam Deck?
Yes
Sure do!
Curved? How?
AR magic
@@PatrickRambles I have not seen curved option with Mac or nebula for mac
Bro, great info as always ❤🙏
And i am very impressed by your fitness , looks fitter and fitter day by day 👌
Would love to hear from you on secrets of your fitness with a youtube video one day 😀
By the way, I enjoy your informative content always ❤👌🙏. I keep waiting for your notifications ❤
Thanks dude!
does not work with my mac
Now it does
They look a bit more mainstream compared to the apple one.
I am not sure I would get a pair. I do not have a MacBook. I only have the iPad Pro and Mini. I take it if used on the iPad we only get on display. I was checking out the website. I could not verify all the iPad functionality. Thanks for the update.
Hi Steve, as it stands, we only get a mirrored display for the iPad. I would be surprised if they didn’t develop an app for the iPad too though.
I bought it and the nebula is full of bugs…. The screen is full black
... Which platform?
Yeah I think Apple product is overkill and I really think I like the look of the sunglasses and I would want to wear them in public versus something like the ski goggles that meta in apple are putting out I just don't feel like they're very fun to walk around in versus sunglasses I feel like there's so much more potential because there's so much smaller!
You look a little like Stevie Wonder when using them though lol!
LOL - that's exactly what I thought when I saw the shots for the first time 😂
Fov is too small to be useful.
These don’t work with the Samsung Galaxy A8🤬 That sucks👎🏻
Price has gone up. There's also chatter on the Xreal subreddit that indicates Apple seems to be crippling display from iPhones so I'm wondering if they will carry that monopolistic activity over to macs. I'm guessing they are really fearful that these will undercut the VisionPro?
Hey! Yeah the price has gone up but that’s most likely for the upgraded model? I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple cripples things. Apple’s gonna Apple.
Product hype only , in reality this glasses are not worth the time and the money wasted.
Care to elaborate?
I just got the Xreal Air2 Pro, downloaded the Nebula for my MacBook Pro.....and it sucks. Nebula is ustable and freezes up all the time. it's basically unusable. It's a waste of money.
Hey Jim, sorry it's not working for you. Have you tried to reinstall or contact Nebula about this? It's working fine for me and a lot of other folks. Might be worth checking where the problem is.
How does one contact Nebula?@@PatrickRambles
currently using this on my headless MacBook Pro M1.
LOL ideal use case.
I hope they release the full nebula app for Mac, its a little buggy when using 3 screens and sharpness loss when using it in compare to not using it
