I found this song through a Project Zomboid mod, and... man. To me, I feel like within the context of the game itself, this song just hits so much harder. Like somebody long after the collapse of society decided to grab a cassette and record themselves singing one last song, one that might never be heard by anyone else. The lyrics themselves could also be interpreted as somebody singing about the apocalypse -- or something along those lines. I guess with that in mind, I could justify that as a reason for why this song makes me want to cry, though I'm sure there is so much more at play.

For those curious - this song was replaced by Epilogue. I hope that someday they make a full fledged version of this song. It deserves the studio treatment. Then again, I don't want that? It's perfect in such a raw form. I think it would lose it's beauty if it were perfected.
hi do you have a source for that info on Hospice? this song already has a studio version from 2005 and Peter started writing the material that would later become Hospice in 2007.
@@biddyboo8 nah the version on February Tape is a remake by Peter. The original version of Dear is from Peter's solo EP 'You Crawl To Our Sleep' before Uprooted in 2005 and it used to be on UA-cam a few years back
