That one is right beside the mandir in Mumtaz Area ruwi, also called darsait. It is a good building, a little old but nice family apartments. The flat we visited was vacant and not good, though.

Always try to negotiate. 200 for Alkuwair is not bad if the flat is well maintained and you can afford.

The rent I mentioned is in OMR which is Omani Rials. 1 OMR = 2.6 USD approx. 170 OMR is 442.12 USD (as per today's conversion). The rent varies according to area and amenities provided.

Yes it is mostly on monthly basis. Some agencies require you to give 12 checks +1 (as security deposit) before hand and in some you have to pay per month exclusively.
what about the "Advance rent' and "agent commission" and security deposit (6 months rent) in Oman?
Every property has a different rule. 1 month rent as security deposit is generally taken.

You can get sharing accommodation +utilities under 100 easily. Monthly expense of food etc will depend on your lifestyle.

Our experience with an agent was very bad. The flats were tiny and old. We honestly wasted our time. The other time we looked for an agent it was very expensive because of the agency fee added to rent+deposit.
I will high recommend checking flats online then contacting the person.

Wsalam, there are many factors playing towards pay scale like your experience and jobs available.
Roughly for a bachelor a salary of 500 OMR is comfortable. And for a small family, atleast 1000-1200 OMR is comfortable.
I will highly recommend to research as much as possible. Some companies also offers good benefits like housing, insurance, commission etc.
But expats always have a limited number of jobs to choose from.

Per month. Rents here are usually per month. Sometimes, if you do a yearly contract, then all 12 checks are submitted beforehand. They just cash them every month.

Have you applied for any kind of job here? If you apply you will get an idea. 300 OMR is a very very basic salary maybe ok for bachelor.

1 bhk starts around 100-120 OMR, depending on the area.
In areas like qurum, azaiba, bowsher, etc in new buildings, starting rent for 1bhk is over 150 OMR.
