Thanks for asking! For a motor that doesn't work, it would be best to just have it rewound (like getting all brand new internal mechanics / electrics on the inside - and runs super powerful!). I love the idea of this - the only things putting me off at the moment are that I wish it didn't have where it is made emblazoned in the gold decals and that there wasn't such an obvious join in the arm that attaches it to the body of the machine. The vintage hand-cranks don't have that join and even if modern manufacturing processes can't make it one piece I wish they'd take a few extra minutes to smooth the joint down. Is there any chance you can work with the manufacturers to encourage them to lift their production values just a little, and put where it is made somewhere a little less conspicuous?
Thank you for your comments. Yes, we agree and is something we have pursued. So far it has not been offered and made available any other way, but this is why we made sure to include photos so there would be no surprises to those who purchased the kit. We have heard of others using model model paint to cover or add their own detailing, though. Thanks again and we will continue to look for improvements on the aesthetics.

I need some help, my hand crank is stuck, and my take down leaver is stuck in the low position and will not come up, meaning my needed is up and won’t come back down. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?
Wouldn't that be great?! Unfortunately, it just isn't possible with the original handwheel and still be considered a genuine handcrank with the design rotation forward, mechanics, stitch count, etc.
I REALLY wish the Featherweight Shop had these in stock, as I would love to convert my "spare" FW 221 to a hand-crank. Do you have any idea when they will be back in stock? Can they be back-ordered? I would appreciate any information. Thanks.

I have this handcrank and also do not like the decals. Fortunately, decal easily peels off, which I did. Looks great now.

Can the hand crank fit on a regular Singer Machine that is an older model?
You can buy a hand crank for most older machines. I have one on my 15-30. I ordered it online.
