My dad was all Indian he could understand and speak Tamil but my grandma made him respond to her in English. He failed kindergarten but then was excepted into Harvard. He didn’t have money to go there so he went to a different collage. He moved to America and to this day he can only understand a tiny bit of Tamil but speaks full English. This video has helped me a little. One day I will finally understand my cousins on the other side of my family.

Its not how complicated the language is, its the concepts conveyed in that language.
I have Kerala roots. Good thing about Tamil is that knowing Malayalam can help me pick it up faster, considering the roots of Malayalam come from ancient Tamil and still, no other languages shares more words and phrases with today's Tamil other than Malayalam. I will master speaking the Tamil language within the next few years!
But the thing is we Tamil people are not as fast as you in picking up Malayalam because of the super strong accent 😅

@@twilight0057 Unfortunately, due to the Vijayanagar Empire takeover in TN during the 16th century, many Telugu communities migrated south. So modern day Tamil language and even cultural practices have a lot of old Telugu influence. I've heard Sri Lankan Tamils saying they understand Malayalam more than modern TN Tamil.

I'm from West Bengal, to me Bengali is a very sweet and easy language. I love to watch South Indian movies and recently I've developed a wish to learn Tamil, I like the Tamil actor Dhanush very much. Tamil is a great language, but spoken Tamil is very fast and the words are too big. I'm not going to learn the alphabets, it seems really difficult. The video is very helpful with the english subtitles and with the tamil pronunciations.

Wow, what a difficult language. I see no familiar roots from Sanskrit. I guess Tamil is entirely independent of Sanskrit. Also both the consonant and vowel sounds are unlike those from other languages I'm familiar with (which are many).

@@11_sohamvaidya53 Tamil Has own unique script. You said about some words along with tamil. Not pure Tamil Word. Bcz every words in Tamil we had different word. After pallava period sanskrit and Tamil combined words are introduced. Bcz migration of brahminsm to Tamilnadu. In Pallava period (7th century) varna system started in Tamilnadu. Before 7th century no caste system in Tamilnadu.
