Spent the last two days rewatching all your old videos and the amount of comfort they have brought me is unmatched. it is my fav thing to watch these kind of vids when I am eating lunch. it makes me feel peaceful and the beautiful cinematic aesthetics makes me experience the world in a different way. on the feeling comfortable in your body: i actually find that the /less/ time i spend looking at it in the mirror or in photography, the better i feel, so this understanding of the body as a functional feature, rather than something aestheticized... look at what we are capable of---it feels good to run, to feel my legs beneath my body and to be able to DO so much; my legs as something that carries me through the world rather than my legs as an ugly/attractive thing
i just went to new york for the first time this passed september. the traffic was terrible, but the city was beautiful and full of a variety of different types of people. it was so amazing and i really miss the short time i was there

next week i am moving to new york for an exchange program for 4 months. i am kinda scared and intimidated by New York so video's like these are really nice to see and rememeber it is still. city where people live and have fun. I am from Amsterdam and, even though its the capital city, i feel like its alot less hectic and intimidating then big cities like New york.

I know you probably won't see this, and you probably won't care, but a while ago, you went to Hawaii after the indigenous peoples urged Americans not to come during their period of mourning and restoration, and that rubbed me the wrong way. But I let it go...until I noticed that you didn't make any videos in solidarity for Palestine, and I realized that I was following just another internet blogger too consumed with themselves that they can't take 30 seconds to name solidarity with a dying population. Even if you don't see this or don't have the integrity to respond, I hope your other subscribers do see this. And before they attack me, think about the fact that we watch entertainers and bloggers every day to be entertained, while they won't even be bothered to acknowledge genocide. And whether you like it or not, with the amount of followers you have, you have a responsibility to use your platform for more than just yourself. And twice, I watched you not do that. I say in earnest good faith and humility that I hope you self-reflect and broaden your scope beyond yourself. Because if you don't, you look like every other self-obsessed influencer. That loneliness you always talk about is healed in solidarity and community.

I mean, I knew you would say that, and I knew that I would be disliked for my comment, but I must admit I find it odd that we don't expect more from people who have such a large following. I find it unethical. And I really did like his content, but then I kept seeing what the people of Maui kept saying about Americans visiting during their time of crisis, and I tend to listen to indigenous communities when it comes to things like this. I didn't expect my comment to be supported, but I felt compelled to say something as I have become more critical about the people I subscribe to and their relationship to power by way of their platform. I hope you have a good day, to say the least, and hope you respect my decision to speak up on behalf of folks who are hurting right now. I meant no ill, I guess I am just getting tired of how we as Americans really get money and followers and are largely encouraged to not look at those who do not have, under the guise of "well that's not my responsibility" when in fact empathy and care should be a collective responsibility. Your comment is fair and contains some interesting information but Dustin has never portrayed himself or claimed to be an activist. He's not required and honestly should not be expected to give his political opinions on these topics. I find this new expectation put on celebrities to always have a constant articulate opinion on every political or social issue odd. I understand that they have large platforms but that's not their job. Like why would I care about Taylor Swift's opinion on the migrant crisis or Harry styles opinion on the opioid epidemic? If you want opinions on that you should seek out actual researchers and people passionate about those subjects.
@@madisonbaker2419 I respectfully hear your point, I read this comment several times and thought of a proper way to respond, and I came to the conclusion that we might be doing a little too much by saying that speaking in empathy with an oppressed people makes a person an activist. A person who is using their platform to acknowledge harm, is not an activist, they're simply acknowledging. I do respect what you said and I respect your viewpoint. I think the problem is, we want to believe that people should garner the attention of hundreds of thousands and millions of people without being expected to have critical things to say. And I can't get down with that. I'm sorry. I can’t support a person garnering hundreds of thousands of followers, or millions of followers, and their content only being about themselves. Something about that reads very self-centered. Something about that reads politically apathetic. And we as Americans just have too much privilege. And I'm saying this as a black person. We have too much privilege to be able to sit back and not publicly stand with oppressed peoples. I don't think this is activism. I think this is simply decency and empathy. I mean with all respect he went to Maui literally days after Hawaiians were being seen on TV crying and pleading with folks from other states to not come to their island while they are still grieving. I just don’t think you can ethically tell me that it’s OK without also saying because I like this person‘s content I’m not going to hold them accountable, I urge you to listen to the heart of what I’m saying, and put a little distance between yourself, and this stranger on the Internet, that you only know via UA-cam videos

You are not trying to cancel or condemn anyone Dustin but just bring back awareness to the empathy and responsibility that we should have for each other but this hyper-capitalist and individualistic way we relate to each other should be criticized. The active genocide in Gaza and the complete refusal from our complicit governments to stop it has caused a massive global consciousness shift and it's hard to see some people in the same light in the wake of all this
