This is nice in its own way, with more oriental instruments woven into it, though more ominous and with a less clearly defined melody. It's also much softer and less assertive. The final version definitely works better for Asougi as a character, the marching beat and samurai-esque arrangement combined with western string instruments give it a more determined feel that matches well with Asougi's eastern upbringing and values and his desire to reach the British Empire in his relentlessly dogged and hard-edged pursuit for the truth.
Yeah, with a few tweaks to make it feel more defined as a theme, I can see it working for Genshin! Maybe add a clear tune on the violin a handful of times to show off his close bond with the van Zieks family.
“Mr Takumi and Mr Nuri pointed out that this version sounded like something you might hear at the public baths in a ryokan hotel. Come to think of it, it does sound kind of generic, like the mood music at a public baths chain. So it had to go!” -Maeba
SPOILERS FOR DGS2 For some reason, I feel like this could work as a reminiscence theme. It’s so much more calm than Asougi’s normal theme, although it does have the same ominous energy that you get from seeing his looking-away-from-you sprite. This piece does allude more to the foreshadowing of Asougi’s backstory in DGS2, and if I’m not wrong, this has somewhat of the same melody in the beginning as Vortex’s theme; it shows how Asougi is, too, really under Vortex’s control. As for it being a reminiscence theme, the mental image that this gives me is Naruhodou learning what Asougi wants to do-to assassinate someone-and looking back on his memories with his old friend; but now instead of happy, they’re all changed, because Naruhodou must be thinking, “This was the man I knew...but did I ever really know him at all?”
I love hiw everyone agrees it sounds like it could work as Genshin Asogi's theme. It's always magical when a whole fandom agrees randomly on a detail about a character we barely know.
@@thegyattiestmanalive22.2 Shu Takumi has said repeatedly that all the main beats of both games while working on the first game cos he overextended the story past a single game. I guess you could say it's both but it was planned out for a long time..
I thought that this was pretty eh until that flute came on. Jesus christ that sent shivers down my spine. But I don't think this should've been used, at least not as Kazuma's theme.
I know it sounds of (what I'm about to say), but if Kazuma was from England, this would fit SO WELL. Mainly the ending part. I'm so happy that he instead got the final version of samurai on a mission. But this isn't bad! By the way, he's my favourite character. Ever.

( A bit more Genshin Asougi than Kazuma Asougi. )

SPOILERS FOR DGS2
This sounds more for like Genshin Asogi!
Prior to this video's release, I did not know this existed. It sounds like a calmer version of his theme mixed up with Susato's theme. I love it.

Asougi's Theme when we are playing at his POV and he did actually kill TG and turned to dark side
I love the theme he ended up getting but WOW this sounds fantastic

I love how it sounds way more grim alluding to DGS2
or maybe it’s grim…cause he died.

I love Asougi's track in the game, but that gives me goose bumps again. Epic.
It doesn't really capture well his senses of justice so I'm glad they changed it.

I really like the solemn vibe the flute gives, it's beautiful.
I never even knew this existed, this track is still great 😳
