Thanks Ryan for answering my question. Can’t wait to try your suggestions tomorrow on court 🙏🙏👍🎾. And you are absolutely correct on the racket tilt angle NOT being 45 degree. The famed coach Patrick M just made a video touting a 45 degree angle to add more top spin… 🤭

Playing doubles today, I began telling myself, "Believe in yourself," and "Trust that you can hit the ball without looking up early." I missed balls and hit some well. Of those I hit well, a half were accidental and lucky because I knew I looked up early--the other half, I kept my head on and kept it still by looking at the contact point for a fraction of a second after the hit. I had full faith that my target wouldn't move.
I *am* gaining confidence (a millimeter at a time), we did win the set 7-5 and we're working on "better tennis!"
Thank you Ryan for continuing to emphasize the split step timing.
A Question: why can't I get as good a kick serve when playing a point vs. just serving a basket of balls? My guess: I'm looking too early to see the ball after contact, which I hope to confirm or rule out when playing tomorrow.
An Other question: If your doubles partner double faults a lot, would you suggest an underhand serve? A player on the other side used that for several points for that reason and I used it for one point (to change the tempo and win the point!) Often, the receiver thinks he'll blast the ball for an easy point when returning an underhand serve, and blows the shot! 😅

Ryan deserves at least 50K views at each of these videos.
How about split those videos into smaller #shorts videos?
For example: "Struggling with High Volleys (QnA) " or " How to deal with stubborn students (QnA)" etc, etc.
With this way you will have more videos, and definitely more views.
Cm on, your channel has to be subscribed from every tennis player in the world that understands English.
Btw Ryan, these videos give HUGE value to us. Your content is gold. I wish I had a coach like you here in Greece.
    Keep it up 👍🎾

Hi Ryan, great work on the channel. I’m working with my coach on developing a topspin forehand, I also watch your videos and have a topspin pro. I can hit it really well in the lesson but then once I step off the practice court it disappears and my old motion is back. My body will not comply with what my brain is telling it! Help!

You asked in episode 5 why you got less views and like on your Q&A videos and here is my toughs :
    1. Some followers like me drop some questions which never get answered (For me after 3 episode I'm still waiting for the answer if there is any) and many will give up after a while if they think they couldn't grab your attention
    2. Put some words of the answers in the title of video to come up as results in UA-cam search. no body search for Q&A in tennis
    3. try to answer more questions by shorten your answers. i.e. in the High volley description, you may mention all 3 improvement points in 1-2 minutes instead of 4-5 minutes you actually did

Please do a tip on hitting angles topspin to get ball to cross doubles side line before baseline on both wings.. eg should I be hitting earlier in arc than usual to keep ball low and still in court?

Fastest way to improve your high volley: set targets on court, get a ball machine or a partner to feed you hundreds of balls, and don’t even think about the technique. Allow your body to learn and adjust by the resulting shot. Play matches. Repeat.
If you’re over 30, and relatively new to competitive tennis, it will take you FOREVER to learn a shot by focusing on the technique.

Sorry mate but I disagree, you can hit 100k balls with bad technique the same way it’s never going to help you hit it the right way. It will give you feel and you could possibly get good but it’s much quicker to use correct technique

Hey Ryan, I’m a shorter player and often times the ball is at my head’s level. How do you recommend I return a ball moving very fast at my head level? Love the videos, they’ve made me exponentially better.

Ryan, I got a question. You relentlessly and wisely recommend tucking in the non dominant arm while/after hitting a forehand. If a person drops that arm straight but to the side of the body ie not blocking the front of the body, and then lifts that arm to catch the racket, is that ok? Will it still be a counterweight? Are there pros that do that? Is the tucking of arm a new thing or did pros in the past do that too? Thanks!

I have a question, can you give me some tips to start training my kick serve? I use a lot of flat serves (1st service) and slice serves (2nd) but never could make a kick serve? How do I start doing it?
And also how can I improve my concentration during the match? I noticed that at some point I start to not being so focus and do a lot of errors

Daniel, Ryan has a lot of useful videos in his channel about kick serves. I think you should give them a look.
Personally, meditation has helped me so much with my concentration issues. 5 - 10 minutes per day, can make miracles.

With the idea of left side of the V, that consistency comes by keeping the same wrist angle with we had beginning the stroke, would you say we should always practice this principle on the forehand side? Should we never roll our wrists when hitting serve, backhand and forehand especially at recreational level?

    Q
Playing doubles today. My partner just tipped the ball. It bouced once and I played it. Is this legal or dead ball?

    • @2MinuteTennis
      @2MinuteTennis  2 роки тому

Dead ball. Your team cannot hit the ball twice. Your team lost the point.

I use the Top Spin Pro frequently. Probably about 95% of my forehands are correct, however every few forehands the head of the racket contacts the plastic part that holds the webbing on the outside of the swing. What would be causing this?

    • @2MinuteTennis
      @2MinuteTennis  2 роки тому +1

I know exactly what you mean. It’s from either swinging too across instead of up. Or from having the TopspinPro orientation wrong either to the left or right. When it’s correct you’ll only hit the ball. Thanks!!

Question for next Friday: How do I stop my racket from opening up too early while going up to contact on the serve instead of being on edge and able to pronate properly? Why does this happen and is this called early pronation?

I've sent one mail in which I've shown Djokovic hitting over hand which is like Nadal's forehand which goes over his head. I see some players hitting such shot sometimes when they are very back behind the base line. Do they hit this shot to get more depth?

I've bought a couple rackets but I just can't find one that's comfortable.
