Wow, the video turned out great! It’s unbelievable how much my serve improved in just 15 minutes. Thanks so much for having me on the channel and for all the help, Coach Ashley!
@@TheTennisMentor I quite like the platform to pinpoint loading of the serve in bringing both feet together during the motion to keep the body all side on for the loading up of the racquet.. I was getting about 120-130 mph using the platform stance but i would keep the weight all down on the front foot instead for the loading of shifting up the back leg., But don't think I tried Platform to pinpoint for the loading.....I don't think I was coached to shift up the back leg into the drive.
Good teacher, good student. That kid is really coachable, and you explained the concepts you were trying to relay in a simple, easy to digest way. Love this format.
Was nice to see the improvement, ah if only we all had access to someone to insta fix our games :) Still will check my weight on my legs, swinging on the way up, and driving forward and up in the direction of the serve (instant increase in accuracy and power with that one).
My old coach would make me jump over something into the court. He could use a lot more leg load and go up to get the ball. Being tall is great, but isn't everything. Opelka and Isner are great examples.
This is really cool to watch. Something I wonder about: It looks a little like his right foot starting position is too far behind him for a deuce side serve. To go out wide, he's having to rotate a very large amount. If I had seen a few ad-side serves, I would bet he sets up the exact same way. If he starts with his right foot back more towards the back fence rather than straight back, parallel with the baseline, I think he'll have a better time transferring his weight towards his target on the deuce side.
Hi Asheligh, I coach a student (15 year old girl) who has good leg drive (pinpoint stance), she misses a lot of first serves long. What would you focus on to fix that? I am trying to get her to finish with a high elbow with the racquet head pointing down and it seems to be getting better. Also do you have any tips on younger females and 2nd serve? they dont have the strength for a kick serve
Hey! It’s hard to know without seeing her serve but a couple of common reasons I see players hitting long and both are around the contact point: 1. Contact point above or behind the head rather than in front. 2. Contact point too low. The grip can play a part in this! For second serves, developing a good slice can be a good option but I’d still aim for a kicker too. Just because she can’t do it yet, doesn’t mean she can’t.
I have the same problem with the back foot going sideways. I think the toss really matters though, most of the time I feel like I just can't balance well when the feet are together, when I started recording I noticed I hit a bit more to the right side when it happens, so I guess I was trying to reach the ball. Also when I try to focus on the pinpoint stance, I thought I did it but then the back foot slips to the side again just before I hop, so I'm not even aware of it.
It's not that difficult to serve 120mph = 193 km/h. Much smaller Coco Gauff does it often💃🏾 At Davis Cup match, they offered us a speed gun, counting only serves that land in. With no warmup, I served 172 km/h with a measly 600rpm. A moderately tall overweight friend served 201. For sheer speed, he simply leans in and easy continuous motion throughout.

My pleasure Brody, was awesome working with you!

Humility amongst coaches is so refreshing to see 👏🏻
Would be cool to see how shorter players can improve their serve! Great videos!!
His warm up serve is faster than my 100% full serve lol.
Same 😂
😂 I don’t think you’re alone!
Imagine having to return that, probably will see it go by so fast, without even getting the racket on it!
Love love this, hit the ball before you land super

Wow. He's blasting them and almost every one is in.
I see @TennisHaus I like
9:17 Look at how far up the back fence the ball hits. That's a a big serve.
🚀
This kid is so good
Nice to have some confurmation that Davor is a giant. Sometimes on his Instagram vidoes I get distracted by how small rackets look in his hands

is this a Diadem Nova or a Nova Plus and with String is on this ?
The equipment doesn't matter. He'll serve big with anything.
@@svlagonda7417 That didnt answer the Question ;-)
I’m not sure, but I’m sure Brody will hop on with the answer soon!
@@wolfgangschlunz5583 it’s a Diadem Nova with some custom specs, and string is Head Lynx :)

Great video but that music overlay is so distracting.
Agree, strangely sounds louder since posting than it did in the edit! Annoying!
