There is a really fun "live" version of this song. It was the song's premiere and it was a celebration for the marriage of Sweden's young King Carl XVI Gustaf and his bride Silvia, the night before their wedding. ABBA was in costumes of the Swedish court (like the late 1700s or early 1800s) and they sang the song for the new Queen Silvia. This was in 1976. King Carl and Queen Silvia are still together, and their daughter Victoria is the Crown Princess who will become Queen. The "Dancing Queen" was Queen Silvia of Sweden.

ABBA was unavoidable in the '70's. If you turned on the radio, you heard an ABBA song. They've taken a lot of flak for their Pop sound, but you just don't have that many hits and not have some good music sensibilities. Just like Blondie's "Heart of Glass," this song is from the disco era, and you can hear the influence in the music. This song brings back a lot of childhood memories, and you guys did a great job of reviewing it. Good Luck on the house!

    Fun facts:😊
    1) ABBA: stood for the first letter of each of the four people in the groups first names.
    2) At the time they consisted of two married couples (blonde girl was married to the brunette guy, brunette girl was married to the blonde guy).
    3) They didn't know English when they initially started singing these songs, but eventually learned.
    4) There are two movies out that showcase just their music called "Mama Mia". You may want to check them out. 🙂
    5) ABBA was one of the big groups back in the seventies and their songs are still popular today.

ABBA are the initials of the four band members; Anna-Frid Lyngstad (the brunette), Benny Andersson (the piano player), Bjorn Ulvaeus (guitarist), and Agnetha Faltskog, the blonde. They were born in Sweden, except for Anna, who was born in Norway. Her family moved to Sweden when she was very young. Neither of the ladies could speak English when they started out in the music business, but decided it would be best to learn English to be better received across the world. When Dancing Queen was a big hit here, I fell in love with my very own Dancing Queen. She asked me to the Twirp Dance (where the girls ask the guys). We dated for over a year, and we're still friends today. Happy memories! I enjoy your reactions.

"Jive" goes way back many many decades. Started with the "Hep Cats" of the early jazz era when they used to tear up the dance floor.
Generally means talking the latest slang that is constantly evolving in pop culture

Loved your video....great vibes and so cool to watch you appreciate ABBA. You are roughly the same, sweet age that I was when this song was released!! ABBA (from Sweden), were megastars all over the world! So brilliant to have chosen English lyrics over Swedish for the world market. They were nothing short of a phenomenon. Btw, their use of the word “jive” most likely refers to an up-tempo swing type dance popular in the 1940’s - 1950’s. “You can dance, you can jive”.....it’s all about the dancing!! Keep rocking guys!
