The Empire State Building staircase is 86 stories tall, and includes 1,576 stairs. If you focus on how many you have left to climb, you will most likely quit. But if you keep your mind focused on the step in front of you, in time you'll find yourself bursting out the door onto the observation deck and looking down upon midtown Manhattan.

I remember this is how I finished my first marathon last year. I was so tired after half the race, but in times of doubt when I really wanted to quit, I always asked myself - "Is this my last step?". Of course not, I can endure one more step. After a while of repeating this you forget the pain and you keep going!
