- Whilst part of Bedlam Lane in Coventry still exists, the section that crossed the railway line has long since been closed. The hand-operated gated crossing and it's associated signalbox were closed on 13th November 1988 and control of the line was taken over by Three Spires Junction a short distance away. The road too was closed and the entire area saw significant redevelopment into what it is today.
Lived in Holbrooks since 1967.
Absolutely fantastic thanks for sharing
Thank you! Cheers!
I lived just up the road (Woodshires Road) You could easily walk to Bedlam Lane via Rowleys green lane. Sadly all but a memory now. Also Bedworth station reopened in this year, May 88 if I remember correctly. Wonderful upload!
Wow! Walked over there many a time! Many, many thanks for the upload.
You're welcome
Not far from where the Coventry (Ricoh) Arena area is now.
what a great name
Hard to imagine where that crossing was even though I walk down bedlam lane every 2 weeks to watch the football
Never saw a hand operated crossing before. Nice 👍👍👍 How many times a day did it close?
Days gone by, the manual crossing replaced almost to extinction by the integrated circuit.
