I didnt really mind this show but when the flashbacks became more interesting to me than the main plot I knew it was gonna be a rough ride for some people who came looking for a new super hero show.
But how many great TV shows took a season or two to gain traction? How can 8 freakin’ episodes possibly be enough to gauge the potential of a show? This is what disgust me about Netflix and Hulu. It wasn’t boring at all. Maybe to you, cuz u already knew the story. They should have changed directors or show runner, to make was less expensive and better looking
they dont "deviated" that much. the major plot twist in the comics was obviusly saved for season 2 but sadly we would never know... and honestly i prefer that happened in the beggining of the season than in the end...
To be honest the flashback origin story could've been like a miniseason all on it's on. It was way too interesting to be coupled as a subplot with a mediocre main plot.
Some scenes looked silly and like theme park props, but i really wanted to see more of this story, especially with their performances and the set up for season 2
They should've given it a second chance. Many shows don't find their audience until later seasons. I was skeptical about this show, but ended up loving it.
This show had potential and After the first episode i was hooked. Netflix is being to quick to cancel it. Look at Firefly. That show with better PR and promotion would have killed but it was cut short sadly. Jupiters Legacy was really good.
I read the comic, they did made some changes to the story for this live action and so I have no idea what direction the story was going to go. One of the big thing I notice was Raikou dying early in the story. In the comics, she wasn't even introduced until late in the story after everything went down.
I was looking forward to season 2. The opening fight scene was great! It kind of got bogged down telling how they got their powers, but I thought the show had legs and was going somewhere.
Really enjoyed the show and wish they had made more! Enjoyed the show enough to buy the comics. The comics are, perhaps unsurprisingly, VERY different! Major plot points are totally new to the Netflix series. Characters are reworked or entirely different. I think in most cases the things they changed for the Netflix show make it better, which is also usually pretty rare. The comic isn’t bad. Though, it does start slow (and I loathe the artistic direction of the comic). Differences: * in the comic all the original group are super rich friends. In the show that’s not the case and I think that’s better. * in the comic the core group are all white. There is still very little diversity in the show, but making the flare African American is something. * in the comic both of the Utopians kids are jerks and screw ups (basically both are the same character). The direction they took Brandon in the show added a lot of complexity to it. Brandon actually has character in the show. He gets about 2 pages in 3 volumes of comics (I think more panels dedicated to blue bolt sleeping with men that add nothing to the story than panels building on anything for Brandon who then kills his father and becomes president of the US … or maybe the world … and we know almost nothing about him). * in the comic Grace has virtually no personality at all. Chloe is the only female character in several volumes of the book who seems to have any kind of personality and she didn’t really get introduced until the third volume and her personality went from spoiled brat on 2 pages to protective mom on two pages. In the series the boat captain has more depth and personality than female characters have in the comic. * the switching back and forth in time also happens in the comic. But, it’s a bit more frequent in the show and the first season covers events from 3 of the comic volumes (many issues per volume). * there was a whole thing with aliens in the comics that didn’t seem needed. They also didn’t have the same theme of alien design. * in the comics Sheldon says “aliens told me to go to an island, let’s go” and so everyone goes to an island. It was REALLY lame. They handled it in a much more interesting way in the series. * the costumes in the comics were really lame. The show did a great job with the costumes. * the comic announces the villain pretty early on. Then tries to surprise you again with announcing the villain again later. It’s really pretty badly done. * the comic presents the utopian as on another level entirely compared to what anyone else can do (like the incredible hulk Vs children in a daycare). Then the comic abruptly kills him off in a weird way where it seems like he should have won … so it’s clear it was just a plot point and you’re not supposed to think about it (more bad story telling in the comic). * the comic does go into much more detail about George and his “downfall”. I really enjoyed those story elements and his journey of self discovery. * in the series the people from the boat got super powers. From what we see in the series I think this was supposed to account for all the powered heroes and villains in the present day story. In the comic this isn’t the case and I believe (haven’t read the 4th and last volume yet) the ultra rich and elite end up buying super hero genes and selling/making their own. * morality plays a different role in the show and I think they do a better job of it. * in the comic the flare is paralyzed then heals. I like that he remains injured in the show. It shows they’re not invulnerable. * in the comic they focus a whole lot on the gay character the blue bolt and his very many gay relationships (it accounts for more pages of panels and pages of storytelling than female characters or anyone of any ethnic diversity and after it is shown once or twice it adds nothing … odd pacing but inclusion.) Really, the comic is sloppy and could have used a stronger editor.
The shows concept of “a rule” that cannot be broken was the main culprit of this show. Just doesn’t make sense. Especially when they were fighthing blackstar, when brandon just “one hit him”. It’s like you are just watching superheros pretend they are weak, its just cringe to watch. The comics was not like that,”the rule”was not in the comics in the first place. They should have never introduced that concept and just stick to a concept of having a traitor in their team, and expand into that. These superheros are being constrained by themselves that makes the viewers just cringe to the bones. I’m glad the show got cancelled.
It was a great show tho. I enjoyed every episode of season 1. And still hoping for season 2 if they changed their mind and reboot season 2. I want it more!
That is a shame as I found it a good show - but it was clear the stories were not being allowed to flow. Definitely better than the Superman Soap Opera
I'm sad 😭 I connected with ghost beam, I almost cried when she died, and was interested in the Walter plot and how utopian was going to adjust to the new world
For me, my biggest criticism of the show was they had too characters and storylines going on at once. Maybe season 1 should've focused on the family and the origin of the Union, with the season ending on Paragon killing Blackstar. Then they could expand into more complex storylines with season 2 like the relevancy of "the Code" and the potential return of Skyfox.
"Netflix isn't pouring more money down the drain, instead money is being poured into a different place" Yeah here's the thing, people watching shows aren't supposed to worry about how much money the show makes its creators and producers, they'd just like to see how the story ends. The more the keep canceling things on us, the less emotional we get about shows, about their fate, their characters, their stories. And new shows will make them even less money. This circle has to end at some point.
Season 1 needed to end with the bloodbath (it happens in the 3rd issue of the comic). The superhero reveal at the ship should have been by Episode 3. They went back and changed the TBD compilations to change the order of presentation making them far less interesting but paralleling the series more. I think bad misstep on Netflix/Millarworld's part.
I could see this... as I had never heard of anything from the Jupiter's Legacy comics before this, things didn't start coming together for me until probably episode 6 or 7 when it showed their origins. Until then I was left wondering where they got their powers and why. And then I am still left wondering how others who aren't direct decedents now have powers... Was their awakening an awakening to everyone else kinda like the X gene from Marvel?
The main difference is Matthew Vaughn directed Kick-Ass and Kingsman, he's super talented They allowed Mark Millar to write and direct who deviated from the comics and the pacing of this show was problematic some episodes 34 mins and others over 50, but the worst was the aging of the characters those beards were obviously fake, the books look are amazing and so were some of the cast especially Lesley Bibb and Ben Daniels. Netflix put 200 million into this show and has given 200 million to GOT showrunners and not yielded anything but a loss. They need to work with great writer-directors like Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish Matthew Vaughn, and Patty Jenkins to create worlds and fresh takes on the action superhero genre.
It was a bit frustrating to watch because of the constant jumping from present to past, because the origin was more interesting. But I did like the show and thought it had a lot of potential.
I'm sure it was expensive to make, it had a lot of visual effects. But I'm sad to see it cancelled, it had a lot of potential and I really enjoyed season 1.

I’ve gotta say this was a step down in regards to the superhero genre, I’m glad it was cancelled because it just wasn’t it! Poor acting, poor visuals at times & unlikeable characters
real shame
it deserved better reviews, was a good show but its going to be one of those shows that people find out about late
Noooooo! I kinda like this show. It had potential. 🦸♀️🦸🏾♂️🦸🏼♂️🦸🏿♂️🦸♀️
Kinda. Exactly
Emojis?
I hear that mate this had sssooo much potential it's unreal.
Aww ..I was looking forward to the next installment!
It wasnt that bad it had potential
No just noo
Potential gets a show canceled
I think they should’ve gone with the animation just like Amazon Prime did with invincible
What did they expect? They deviated from the source material and ended up with a boring depiction of what was suppose to an amazing story.
It wasn’t boring at all. Maybe to you, cuz u already knew the story. They should have changed directors or show runner, to make was less expensive and better looking
Amen to that!!
@@luvyou-baby I didn't read the story and yet it was already old and tired and derivative. Read Kingdom Come for a superior story of the same vein.
they dont "deviated" that much. the major plot twist in the comics was obviusly saved for season 2 but sadly we would never know... and honestly i prefer that happened in the beggining of the season than in the end...
@@luvyou-baby bad acting, bad cgi, cheesy as hell
I finally found another good show on Netflix, just to hear this?
To be honest the flashback origin story could've been like a miniseason all on it's on. It was way too interesting to be coupled as a subplot with a mediocre main plot.
Could be. I liked it more that than the main plot, too. It keept a good mistery
ah well, at least there's still comics.
Which they did not use
Some scenes looked silly and like theme park props, but i really wanted to see more of this story, especially with their performances and the set up for season 2
The flashbacks were better than the actual show. That one guys rod was awesome though.
This is just sad to hear. I thought it was great, and was ready to see more.
Hopefully in the future we agree to unanimously agree to void all "Rotten Tomatoe" reviews.
They should've given it a second chance. Many shows don't find their audience until later seasons. I was skeptical about this show, but ended up loving it.
Could someone please tell me the name of the background song
It was weird that they were old, but not old. The Utopian's daughter was a pain in my butt. So was the son.
Sad to see it go enjoyed this show.
This show had potential and After the first episode i was hooked. Netflix is being to quick to cancel it. Look at Firefly. That show with better PR and promotion would have killed but it was cut short sadly. Jupiters Legacy was really good.
I had my doubts, but I was really enjoying the show, and was super bummed they gave up so quickly.
This was literally like someone took a bunch of characters with powers and useless drama and filmed it 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
The action was janky. Needed a better fight choreographer, stunt team, etc... the works. And, in 2021, you can't be THAT slow-paced.
This show was amazing I was hoping for a second season
I watched and loved it 😭😭
Really enjoyed the show and wish they had made more!
Differences:
* in the comic all the original group are super rich friends.
I'm sad 😭 I connected with ghost beam, I almost cried when she died, and was interested in the Walter plot and how utopian was going to adjust to the new world
Wow!! I was looking forward to season 2
I just started watching and so far I'm enjoying it.
Lmfao Netflix loves killing its actual good content
For me, my biggest criticism of the show was they had too characters and storylines going on at once. Maybe season 1 should've focused on the family and the origin of the Union, with the season ending on Paragon killing Blackstar. Then they could expand into more complex storylines with season 2 like the relevancy of "the Code" and the potential return of Skyfox.
"Netflix isn't pouring more money down the drain, instead money is being poured into a different place"
Yeah here's the thing, people watching shows aren't supposed to worry about how much money the show makes its creators and producers, they'd just like to see how the story ends. The more the keep canceling things on us, the less emotional we get about shows, about their fate, their characters, their stories. And new shows will make them even less money. This circle has to end at some point.
I really loved season 1. This is sad. I thought it was deserving a second season imo.
The fight scenes looked cheesy and cheep lol I’m glad it’s over
they could have easily corrected this problem instead of cancelling
@@electro1463 The damage has already been done
@@usmanmt33 Nope just change choreographer, not complicated
@@electro1463 yeah true, but unfortunately you can't go back in time and change it before everyone sees it......so.....the damage has BEEN DONE
@@usmanmt33 you can’t un see it.. it was terrible lol
Very disappointing to hear this. I enjoyed the show and its different experiences.
I only watched the 1st episode. Does it get better?
I was looking forward to this show, watched season 1, but it was honestly disappointing
Bring it back!
This was a good show.
