I love foam filling, without a doubt preserves them. It would be awesome to see you foam fill one. The guy that foams yours did a spectacular job.

Hi Rudy! Rubber masks crosslink over time making them hard and brittle. It certainly is not an archival medium like some platinum cure silicones. This is because oxygen in the air oxidizes the rubber. This very same thing happens to oil paints where the soft and flexible paint film becomes hard and brittle with age. That’s why you see old paintings on canvas crack. For this reason artists like to varnish their oil paintings to protect and prolong the longevity of oil paintings, minimizing the amount of oxygen hitting the oil paint film. If one never plans to foam fill a mask, it would be easy to paint a varnish made for latex on the underside of the mask to minimize exposure to oxygen. Of course, varnishing the top finish of an old vintage mask would add protection, but change the original mat or sheen a bit. Just thought I’d mention it. Love your channel!

Great update! My favorite wacky pack was Hostile Thinkies (Hostess Twinkies) which had brains instead of sponge cake. I used to buy them on my paper route at the corner store.

Sending a mask to CA is nerve racking. I sent a Whambo and a Neanderthal together and the box arrived split in half! Both masks where in there, and they arrived back to Dallas foamed and beautiful , but man that made my blood run cold when he told me that.

Man..no more zebra gum...i miss marathon bars and whatchamacallit candy bars...has anyone considered to make sand casting using aluminum..you could make masks that could be displayed for many generations.
