✎ She was born in Chicago, Illinois. After her graduation from Princeton, Hobson joined Ariel Investments as an intern. In 2000, she ascended to become the president of Ariel, a Chicago investment firm that manages over $10 billion in assets. Ariel is also one of the largest African American-owned money management and mutual fund companies in the US. She's the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Ariel Investment Trust and of DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. She's a regular contributor on financial issues on CBS This Morning.She's also a director of the Starbucks Corporation, and The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. In 2017, Hobson was named to head the Economic Club of Chicago, the first African American Woman to do so.

Yes we need to be, because we won't grow unless we experience areas of life that makes us feel uncomfortable. The moment we start being "comfortable with being uncomfortable" is a major signs of growth.

Mellody is inspiring to me. I'm grateful to be a woman and an African American woman. Such a encourager💜👍 My favorite is stand up for what you believe in. So many people shy away from fighting for what they believe in. Not me anymore! I am running to the fight not from it. Let't Go!

I ADORE Mellody Hobson!!!! She inspires me in so many ways!!!! I loved all points. But I liked "Be Brave" and "Stand for what you believe" So good!!!
First, I would like to say "Thank you" for making this video with Mellody Hobson, Carl.All ten rules were great! I would have to say that my favorite rule is number five: "Have Patience" When Mrs. Hobson began to explain what having patience can do for you, it resonated with me as I am a person who does not enjoy the moment. I am always looking towards the next goal instead of appreciate the present accomplishments. Although being patient is not something that can be learned over night, I am, now, dedicated to exercising patience daily! Living in the moment! Loving life and everything it has to offer. Enjoying the present with the future in mind.

I just can't help myself to be motivated by money, I'd say 50% money & 50% is for the love of doing the good idea or service.
I'm thinking that If i get money, then my service is working or being valued. Money is the reaction of your passion. Same as when we feel emotion from a certain reason.

#10 When I met John Lewis this year, I cried and all I said was "Thank You". He is the last one and still have the courage to speak out with no fear.
For one to learn from their failures is excellent advice. Being comfortable with being uncomfortable is great advice too. There are many jewels in this presentation; however, these two are probably my favorites.

So I have a suggestion, in my country it's kinda impossible to have high speed Internet, and for UA-cam I have to use vpn, too. I watch UA-cam in the lowest quality possible and it takes time!! The compliment is that I can not see the title written for rules beside the video!! I guess writing them down in description box would be helpful for people like me.
