Virgil was the first drummer I ever saw do double strokes on double kick. All the kids are doing it these days i guess lol. Regarding this piece, tbh it doesn't sound like much of a solo. Just sounds like a groove imo.
I love Virgil but he can tend to lose me with the technicality. It becomes more about that than musicality and that's when my interest starts to wane. Been a fan of Virgil for years and always will. It's just the past couple years this style doesn't appeal as much to me personally.
Looks like the same 16th note random placement "groove" over a spaced out backing track he has been doing for 15 years now. He needs to come up with new stuff.
The best backwards-hat drummer in the world. 🔥
Bold statement, but true
Probably forwards version too.
I mean, besides Will Ferrell, right?
@@isaacleedrums Ha! Then there's Will. :) Forgot about Chad Smith as the other backwards ball cap drummer out there. Yet Virgil still is 👑.
@@ChristopherDillman true dat
still love your work!!
I also want a bass drum head with my face on it :D
Love Virgil!
It's amazing how many of these garage rock drummers are on You Tube. Equally amazing is the fact that they all sound virtually the same.
You just qualified for the special Olympics, if you're serious!!!
@@kincaidmike8276 It's also amazing how many of these garage rock drummers can't handle criticism.
What's amazing is your fragile ego!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

is it really a drum solo if the whole 'band' is also playing?
If the piece of music is written for the drums, yes.

My thoughts as well
Agreed, I liked his style when I first discovered him over 10 years ago now.
It’s one of those things that I loved when I was a kid, but as an adult I appreciate a balance of cool chops and good songwriting.

Maybe you could teach him😂
Yeah, show him some new stuff!
Pure ignorance.
You prefer his Tina Arena gig in the 90's?
Virgil has more stuff than any drummer i know of
great drummer...worst drum solo ever.
looks a bit special with the black sticks after what 57
years?
