    Dude, you've got a wealth of knowledge, I enjoy watching your videos, always something new to learn, just can't stand seeing you work so hard. I also watch prospectors from here in my area, Washington State, and I know you'd have better hunting grounds here. Would be nice to watch you make some really nice hauls of gold. Anyways, cheers to you sir, from your viewers in the USA.

    For me the question is which one collects more fine and flour gold

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому +1

      mycal berkey that's a good question.
      Without going into it too deep I'm voting the rocker box. It forces the dirt over way more surface area at a slower rate. Giving the gold longer to find a place to hide.

    I am not surprised . When my boys where small after a trip to Sovereign Hill we built a rocker box out of scrap pieces of wood . I had just started prospecting and we caught some good gold . Really the rocker box is a good cheap alternative to a sluice .

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому

      Peter Shelley it's actually the for runner to the high banker, very efficient and you can use the almost anywhere.

    • @pychohobo1832
      @pychohobo1832 3 роки тому

      @@VoGusProspecting here is what I'm see as an advantage the rocker box has over a high banker. And why I'm interested in making one.
      1st requires less water then a recirulating sluice.
      2nd don't have to worry about burning up pump motors when water gets to murky.
      This isn't for everyone.
      But here is some problems I face.
      Lack of water
      Limestone. This makes the water to become murky quick, and quickly clogs sand filters.
      Now I know. People say there is no gold in limestone deposits. But where I am there is. I found it by mistake before I knew better.
      Where I am is a old sea bed. That I can't figure out how it happen but at about 2 foot down I start finding huge granite (18" very smooth round) and other seldom rocks. 10'x10' hole at 2' to 8' found three granite very rounded 18" rocks and rocks. Now from 6" to the 8' is nothing but layers of limestone. And no one has dug here before. The rocks are incased in limestone. Btw, I'm guessing limestone layers are about 500' at least. Judging from mountains 50 miles away ( closest mountains) and because oil is below that and water below that.
      Anyhow when I was digging the hole. I crushed and panned some of the rock. And found a couple flakes about #20 mesh size.
      On top of that, like I said everything is encased with limestone. So, when you find other rocks, they have like 1/4 layer of limestone on them. And I think this is why it has been over looked. That's beside the fact that very few people have been where I am.
      I've walked 20 miles in all direction. And all dry washed have the same limestone coated rocks. That you have to break the rock to see it's not limestone. Though a big clue is when it doesn't break easy. Lol.
      If I just had wood I could have all the cement I wanted.

    • @pychohobo1832
      @pychohobo1832 3 роки тому

      Oh I should add.
      Did try drywashing it once with no success
      But drywashing isn't for fines.

    There's not a lot of flow where I go so do u think that a rocker will b better than a mini backpack sluice?I'm great with wood so it wouldn't take much to knock a yen up.

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому +3

      Rastaman Ralph I got this rocker for that exact reason. Think of them as a recirculating high banker.
      I've used them to process 240lt of dirt in a puddle. Very effective and way less strain on your body.

    Personally, a gold hog stream sluice with correct tuning will beat anything in my opinion xD

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому

      Geo the rocker box is slow. The only reason it won was because of the classifying needed to run that sluice. So I'd tend to agree with you.

    Don't have to screen Dream Mat is a river sluice. Runs unclassified.

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому

      Khrysos GodofGold I firmly believe the river sluice is quicker in most situations. Just not in this case. The large rocks made it hard to get any amout of pay dirt so screened or umscreened would have made little difference I think.

    • @TheDSP1970
      @TheDSP1970 6 років тому

      You said in the video, screening takes the most time. you do not have to screen the material on a dream mat in a river sluice. Plus it has a higher feed rate than other river sluice riffles & carpet. That's if you have the flow, or your high banking.
