very nice as always..so for me the takeaway is: it's primarily about feel..hand pressure.. suppleness, and secondarily about line variation. thank you, Azizah.
Thanks, Azizah! Great job explaining and demonstrating the differences. --- I must also add that I get such a kick, such a simple pleasure, merely watching you craft your letters, words and short phrases to music. Your pace, the way you change your pace, the precision of your strokes and flourishes, it all adds up to a very pleasurable viewing even on the third or fourth playing. Have you done any ASMR video work? You'd be quite good at it!
Great guidance! I've been on the fence about a briarwood Nakaya, and I couldn't quite decide which nib to get. Still a bit unsure, but at least I am a bit more informed after seeing this.
Great video. I have experience with Pilot & Platinum soft nibs (Pillot soft is much softer than Platinum soft). How does these Hakaya soft nibs compare wih those?
Like the video :), I have also the elastic nakaya nib, but had al lot of problems with the feed it was also send back to the factory, but even then the ink flow is not wet enough for this kind of nib, fast rail roading :(
This video was really helpful, thanks a lot! I was wondering how the soft medium feels compared to something like a Pelikan M1000 nib which is also pretty soft?
Great! So glad to hear that :) The soft medium feels very much like the M1000 nib in terms of being springy, but I think the M1000 nib is wetter (I suppose because it's larger) but they *feel* very similar to each other
The elastic has a more "bouncy" feel to it. I much prefer the Pilot FA nib, which is softer, but does take more control and has less resistance to being sprung.
These models are not available for retail sale, they're just testers provided by Nakaya, even though they are super cool! I don't know about Nakaya's nib sizing - as far as I know, they're all one size.

Thank you for your support Randy! I appreciate it so much, and I'm glad that it's at least a little helpful, if not just fun to watch :)

The Nakaya soft is softer - I would say closer to the Pilot than Platinum, and they have less feedback than the Platinum I used.
That was helpful, thank you

Thank you, Azizah. Regarding pronunciation of Japanese, a good rule is that generally syllables receive equal stress. So: Na-ka-ya.
I have to remember that. I keep stumbling over it in newer videos I'm recording! Sigh.

Great video! I must get one of these lovely elastic nibs... And what was that nice orange ink you used? :-) Happy New Year!
Unfortunately, the now discontinued Caran d'Ache Saffron!
How does the elastic compare to the pilot FA nib?
The elastic has a more "bouncy" feel to it. I much prefer the Pilot FA nib, which is softer, but does take more control and has less resistance to being sprung.
Hi! I don't see them on the site. What pens would these fit? And are they a #5/#6 ? Thanks.

where can I get one of those tester body pens
I wish Nakaya would sell them. I think they're only available to retailers.
Can you get a soft medium with elastic finishing?
Nick C Yes you can, I had one, but Iam not happy with the performance of the feed
Yukio Tjon-A-Hie ah, does it not keep up very well?

Caran d'Ache Saffron - unfortunately discontinued!
