How do these eight pens compare to eight completely different pens that are similar in that they are also pens?

I think i saw you at the DC Pen show this weekend. I picked up my 3rd Nakaya at the show, a Dorsal Fin v1 (toki tamenuri). It’s hard not to take my eyes and hands off of it. It writes better than any other pen I own.

So great to see all these pens together! I put in an order a couple of months ago for the same long cigar dragon pen, but in red rather than green. I can't wait!

Nakaya makes some gorgeous pens. The Dorsal Fin and Decapod (Twist) are possibly my favorite body styles to admire. It's great to see these pens in one video.

Oh, those are beautiful pens. I've been ignoring Nakaya because I am fine with the bright-candy acrylics but seeing the art and craftsmanship... mmmmaybe gonna put one on the grail list. Thanks for the look!

I love those candy colors, too. It's a never-ending battle!

Nice video! I’d like to pick up a neo standard or decapod in aka tamenuri someday in the not too distant future. Absolutely stunning pens

'Canoe of glory.' Nice. Eight Nakayai, the sequel to Seven Samurai
My fav is the green dragon (love how the refractive gloss hides the dragon as the pen curves), followed by gloss black, semi-gloss red, and the green.

I really love the dragon! I currently own a Decapod Twist with the Heki-tamenuri finish and a soft-fine nib. It's an amazing pen, and it needs a friend. But that dragon costs about twice what I paid for the Twist, so it will probably remain in fantasy.

    • @gourmetpens
      @gourmetpens  5 років тому

I love the Heki-tamenuri finish, looks fantastic on the Twist! Alas, I, too, shall continue to fantasize.

What clip selections were the gold clips? Are they gold or matt gold?

I am very impressed with the lighting on your set for this video: no shadows, enough light to express the colors of the several pens, I try to do this with my pen photos, and don't always get the result you have. And by the way, the unpolished red is the best because it is so close to the 149 size, and yet you like it.

    • @gourmetpens

Thank you! I am fortunate to have a few well-lit spaces I can record in, and friends with solid lighting supplies!

UEF, It's like writing with a cat claw. Yay!
That dragon pen is the coolest. I liked the red and black one, too.
    Thanks for sharing, Azizah.
Very nice presentation, you really like those and it makes for a good energy.

Hallo Azizah, are you able to review the 17mm Nakaya? Since I have seen it in this video, I want purchase one, but I 'm not sure about it. It would be also interesting for me, what Mr. Brown will say to it. Thanks a lot for your vids. Manfred Knie here from Vienna, in Austria.

Oh dang. I have always thought the Dorsal Fin was cool, but it was never really on my list. But I didn't know they did it with an ishime finish. Onto the list it goes.
I really liked your presentation. Not a review or even a pseudo-review. Just 20 minutes of drooling over truly drool-worthy pens.

I have, I'm guessing a much cheaper Namiki in my Nippon Art Golden Pheasant, but it's quite beautiful and writes like a weasel's butt on ice. My favourite Ice Capade show by-the-way. I also have a prera that also writes great. I trust Pilot nibs like no other.

When I saw you wear the Nike sweater, I thought to myself, "THIS is going to be one hyper-active pen review."
    I love your enthusiasm.
The pens are above my price range (my range is in the Platinum #3776 category ) but they are fun to see you review them.
    Keep up the great work.👍👍👍

Dear Azzizah, Please help me figure out if in your personal opinion these beauties are worth the substantial cost. I look forward to your reply, as I'm barely restraining myself from buying a Nakaya pen (not the sword) now. Thank you for another excellent review! Your humble svt, 😊

I just looked up one of the prices for these pens and omg... so beautiful but also I’m so broke. Haha. Maybe one day. 🤞🏻
These pens remind me of Japanese fude makeup brushes in the craftsmanship and beauty. Fude brushes are made hand made, hand bundled, and each and every single hair is selected and made into a brush. It’s wildly mind blowing. Once you try one you’d prob never go back to a machine made brush. Lol. Not to get you interested in another expensiveeeee hobby. 😅
