I'm getting the Aquaglide Blackfoot 130 for wild camping and fishing for sea as well as rivers and lakes. The new seat that Aquaglide provide for the Blackfoot ticks all the boxes for me. Thanks!! helpful. I had some doubt that the self bailing feature works well enough and your comment about the 50 lbs of water in the boat when you had it open seem to confirm that. Unless the boat is very full of water, I assume that the self bailing feature does not really work to keep the floor dry. Would I be correct? Thanks.
if you keep them shut, there are no problems. The new Blackfoot has a better system but all in all, if you keep them closed, there are no issues. Even the new Star Pike, they removed all the holes at the bottom of the boat. I will try to get my hands on one and make a review..I just have to convince them to loan me one :p
I found the seat on my Blackfoot so was uncomfortable initially, but then I reduced the air pressure in the blow-up riser, and it made a HUGE difference. Just inflate until it’s the correct shape, but still has some flex (soft for your bum).
Looking at Aquaglide vs Sea Eagle vs Advanced Elements. Are the seams welded or glued? And if drain ports don't work is it worth paying extra to find a kayak that has them?
the seams look welded. I've used it for 2 summers now and use it quite alot. I store it inside my house ( winters are very cold here) So far it looks practically new and that thing got multiple beatings in rocks. Honnestly I open the drain plugs only when I deflate the boat. I might do that once or twice in the season because it's rare that water comes in the boat.The occasional rainfall is when that occurs. I doubt you'll find a dropstitch floor boat without drain plugs. I rather have the plugs, easier to drain the boat when needed. Hope this helps. :)
Is this good for paddling ? I want to get the blackfoot 130 over the chelan 140 due to the weight limit increase. I don't fish but I like the look of the new 2021 chair it comes with.
the Chelan is 4 inches narrower so it might be a bit quicker...but not that much. The new seat in the Blackfoot will be wayyyyyyyy more comfortable. You can even take a section out if you want to be seated lower. The Blackfoot will be way more stable. It is good for paddling. I've gone fishing with it over 10 hours in the wind. It's not a speed machine but I out paddled a guy who had a Pelican Catch 120 ( rigid). I hope this helps

I can't find any info on the Blackwater 130 in tandem. I know it says it can be done but I'm not sure how functional it will be. Lastly, do you still know of any stores in MTL that has inventory?
So, are you saying that you can’t use those drain holes in the kayak to let the water that have been splashed from the waves out like a sit-on-top hard kayak because the water from the river would actually get into the kayak? So instead of letting the water out those holes let the water in? If that’s the case that is very weird!

Its interesting, your experience with AG is different than mine. I have a Chelan (basically it's the Blackfoot without Scotty mounts) and I have been surprised by how fragile it is. It feels tough but in its first year, I had multiple punctures that I had to repair from just paddling it around Algonquin. It seems that every time I take it out, I have a minor repair to make. ) I do agree on the seat quality issue though. You commented on how such an expensive boat has pretty crappy seats. I've noticed that is across the board with AG. Every accessory that came with the boat is a far cry from the quality of the boat itself. The carry bag mine came with was about the cheapest material imaginable as well and lasted all of the 5minutes. The zipper wasn't even really strong enough to support the weight of the bag inside it. I don't mean this as a major criticism suggesting AG is bad but there are certainly areas for improvement which I think AG has taken to heart because the 2021 edition of the boat seems to be a big step up and their new frame chair looks promising.
I got the new chair...looks solid. Going to take it out in a couple of weeks..still too cold here in Montreal. I'm very surprised by your puncture issuses. My girlfried has also a Blackfoot and 0 problems. I never use the bag. I hope your puncture issues get resolved!
@@experimentalfishing1292 Thanks, yeah, they are relatively easy to repair, fortunately but it certainly lowers my "trust" in taking the boat into the backcountry. I'm jealous you got the new chair, I haven't been able to find it anywhere in stock yet! :D
I experienced a puncture in my Blackfoot as well. It happened the first time I took it out fishing. I caught a bluegill and it flopped around on the drop stitch floor and punctured it. It was a very tiny hole. I guess I shouldn’t have allowed the fish to flop around on it. I patched it and the patch has worked great. No issues since then. I agree about the seat. It’s very painful.
Is the floorboard one solid piece? I have space issues, so I cant get a regular hardtop kayak, and was looking into picking one of these babys up. The floorboard would be an issue though
I've had my Blackfoot angler for 1 year.....The things I like about it, zero punctures, seems to be a pretty solid raft, inflates and deflates quickly, transports easily in trunk of car. I've caught many fish from my stealthy Kayak. The things I'm not thrilled about my Blackfoot Kayak.....You have to clean it very well after each use and use PVC protectant, the PVC can yellow easily, never leave the Kayak folded up too long if it's wet because it can get mildew stains quite easily. The Kayak is a little over priced in my opinion, the chair it comes with could be better. I don't feel comfortable standing in my Blackfoot angler. I ordered the Blackfoot XL but they sent me the Blackfoot angler (I didn't try to exchange it because I didn't want to wait several weeks for the issue to be resolved). I sometimes avoid using the stabilizer fin under the Kayak because I'm afraid it might snap off if I get really shallow or when I launch my Kayak.....In my opinion, my Kayak should come with a descent pump, and a better seat to help compensate for the high price of the Blackfoot angler. Straight up!!
the 2021 seat fits in the XL. I haven't tried it out yet but as soon as I do, I will make a video. The fin is strong..trust me I smashed it in boulders a few times and it is solid. A pump would be great. I know the Star Pike comes with one and they are at the same price.
@@experimentalfishing1292 you need to mention in your videos about the time and money it takes to clean the inflatable Kayak. 303 Marine protectant and other similar products are quite pricey.....Also the Kayak doesn't come with a paddle or pump. Let buyers know what it's all about.

that cushion was a riser or a booster for the seat that came with the boat. They don't make it like that anymore. The 2021 model has a rigid chair like you would find on rigid fishing kayaks. Trust me, it's worth it.

in flat water no need to have them open, probably more in white water. If you're fishing lakes and rivers, the boat will stay dry.

The floor is inflatable and it's a separate piece that fits inside the Kayak.
