  • This week I traded up from the Blackfoot 125 HB to the new 2021 Blackfoot 160. This Kayak is built for tandem paddlers and angling right out of the box. Lots of improvements over the 125. My favorite so far are the seats. Any, please forgive the quality of this video. Hopefully you find some good information.
    Thanks to Western Canoe and Kayak in Abbotsford, BC for helping me get setup. - westerncanoekayak.com/

    Hey by the way - the chair bases weren't mis-measured, you have to crank down on them pretty hard, and it actually functions to add torsional rigidity to the seat frame. They fit perfectly, you just have to wrench it down a bit. Also it absolutely goes back in the same way if you pack it properly - I get mine back that way no problem every time - you just have to deflate the boat after you use it.

    I love fishing in my Blackfoot angler. I've caught lots of Largemouth bass on my Kayak. I smacked a 5 pounder a couple days ago, she pulled my Kayak a little bit. I want to land a huge striped Bass and have it pull my Kayak around. 🙏

    Great Vid bro, do you find you need to add extra air above what is recommend? I unboxed mine today and filled it up to specs and it’s not as firm as I would like, any thoughts.! I feel like it does not have enough air???
    Thanks for your vid!

      Watch out with overfilling in hot weather. That air will expand and possibly damage your boat. I didn’t find I needed more air. With my first boat I learned my pump had a bad gauge though. I bought a cheap tester gauge to check. Replaced that air pump soon after.
      Congrats on purchasing your kayak. Have an amazing time on the water.

      @michaelgrabstein6423 2 роки тому

      @@alaskaasmr200 I have not taken it out solo, but I have paddled my mom around without her dipping the paddle and it handled very well. I think it would be even better solo if you were a bit more centered. The biggest problem solo might be sitting to high out of the water. It tracks shockingly well but less weight might not be helpful.

    David, my 130 came with caps on the leg extensions. Did you get those? Aquaglide has included 4 spare feet with each Frame Seat. I asked because you mentioned the sharp edges on the leg extension and that you didn't feel safe packing the extension inside the backpack.

      I felt safer packing metal things outside of the pack separate from the boat.

    Is there any issues with the legs on the seats? Do you need to worry about them cutting into the floor of the kayak? Can you use the seats without the legs?

    • @AquaglidePlatinum
      @AquaglidePlatinum 3 роки тому

      Great question! We have an FAQ answering all of these questions - check it out here aquaglidesupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500007184881-AG-Frame-Seat-Durability-Pro-Tips. To make a long story short, you should always keep the rubber feet on the legs when using the "low" setting, and you can extend the life of these feet via washers. The frame that creates the legs is part of the seat so it can't be separated, but the seat does have a high and low setting. Hope this helps!

      @@AquaglidePlatinum Sorry that didn't answer my question. Let me rephrase: How do you "prevent the chair legs from cutting into the floor of the kayak?" From what I can see, it looks like this will eventually happen.

    I took a very long time researching and decided to buy this kayak based on marketing promises of this being above average quality product. It is not. It is misrepresented.
    You definitely need to buy a good quality electric pump. There is no way you can comfortably and easy inflate or deflate it with manual air pumps. Despite marketing claims.
    At full PSI the tubes are soft and you will need to routinely exceed PSI to achieve harder surface. It is China-made, average quality materials, not the kind you'd expect from a gear priced as top of the line. Nothing about its construction is environmentally conscious, which is not the last considerations for most people who enjoy kayaking.
    It is extremely difficult to dry. Marketing has no mention of the hassle associated with drying after use and preparation for storage. It is really difficult to clean as mud gets into the pores of the floor.
    It tracks just ok on the water, certainly nothing close to hardshell kayaks. I'd never buy it again and I'm stuck with it because the resale value is dirt.
    Please be ethical representing your product and give customers accurate marketing information.

    • @davidschild753
      @davidschild753  Рік тому

      Most inflatable kayak owners and SUP owners end up buying electric pumps. We all learn pretty quickly how much a PITA it is to inflate/deflate each trip and again to clean it. That's one of the big down-sides of owning an inflatable kayak. But if you're limited in storage space and can't store a hardshell in your home, then these things are great.
      I don't work for AquaGlide (or any other related business). But I've always found AquaGlide products and service to be exceptional. That said, I have switched to a hardshell kayak. But that is because I now have the space for it. For infltable kayaks, I still love the AquaGlide products.
