Have an 11 Platinum F150 with that 6.2L engine. Runs new at 200K. Only issue I had are expensive coils that get trashed, but don't owe anything at that mileage. My first oil change with it was 5W30 PP High mileage. It is decent inside but that will clean it up a bit. Motorcraft is a great choice too. My oil filter is in the front of the engine on a cooler block. The OEM cap says 5W20 but it was speced for 30.
The 6.2 is a solid motor with a reputation of lifter issues only when revved too much. On mine, drivetrain is about out of warranty, if not already, so figured no reason to not do mine own. Got a full synthetic 8 quart oil change on the wife's 5.3 Tahoe for $187 last Saturday. Needless to say that's the last time they're going to see that one too. Thanks for watching!
@@LivingCommonSense Yep, nice video! They wanted around that at Ford here for my Truck. Whole thing took like 20 min start to finish. I heard valve springs are an issue but the ford place said issues with that motor are very rare. Some fleet ones see 4-500K. He said the Ecoboosts and even the 5.0's keep them in business . They also see some 7.3 issues now.
Thanks, the 7.3 has the potential to be a legendary beast in a few years. They're having some bearing issues somewhere in the top of the engine, probably due to a supplier cutting corners. It's still a new engine and I don't touch new ones until they've been around 5-10 years to work out the kinks...same for transmissions.
Happy that I found your video. I was looking at this same truck, just a single cab. When I first heard the engine...I expected it to sound deeper...but as I listen to yours...it sounds the same. Are you still happy with your truck? I am close to pulling the trigger on the f250 or the 2019 ram 2500
TBH, not real excited about it at 37,000 miles. The good: No problems with the engine, transmission 4wd or electronics. The keyless start fob reach a looong way and the ford app is good for starting it from inside building. The bad: 360 cameras are not very clear. Not like GM's Tailgate camera is uselessly cloudy/foggy. So bad in fact there is a recall and the camera has been backordered forever. The local dealer said availability would be 23' and now that it is 2023, camera might be here in 24'. New battery at 3 years old Death wobble started at 34,500 miles There is a recall on the stabilizer but my local dealer denied and said it was a loose drag arm and wanted $700 to fix it. I aired the front tires up so that it rides rough and it mostly went away. This truck hasn't had all 4 tires of the pavement at the same time more than a hand full of times. Never towed more than a JD 1025R tractor and only 4-5 times. It is a pavement princess. Tires extremely worn at 37,000 🤷♂️ I hate the aluminum body. Had a rock come falling from the heavens, hit and tore a gash in the hood. Had to have a new hood. $2500 I (slowly) backed into a pole with the rear bumper that I couldn't see on the bad camera or mirrors and the bumper collapsed into the bed. The whole side of the bed had to be replaced because "aluminum" 🤦♂️ $6500 No mag mount antennas. Its had more new wind shields than oil changes. They crack easily. The truck has never left me on the side of the road. I did not buy it at my local dealer. My local dealer said I'd have it traded in before the tailgate camera comes in. I kind of think they wanted me to trade in a low mileage truck they could mark up and resell during the shortage. I won't be trading it in on another new Ford. I expected better from Ford. I've had a new 08' explorer, 12' mustang, 13' edge with no problems. Great vehicles. Had a 18' explorer that the engine died on a handful of times and it wasn't the kind that was supposed to. Dealer we bought it at couldn't find the problem. Traded it off at 34k miles. I'm probably going back to GM next time.
@@LivingCommonSense The negatives clearly outweigh the positives. I really appreciate the honesty. I don't hear many complaining about GM and the Tundra's
All the brands have their problems. To me, it is how the manufacturers and dealers address the problems. I didn't ask the dealer to try and run the drag arm through warranty and see if Ford would cover at just 1,000 miles out of warranty and they didn't offer. Back in 1999, my 98' half ton chevy had a bad pcv valve at 36,600 and the dealer/GM covered it without me having to ask at 600 miles out of warranty. That sort of thing makes an impression. I still have and drive that same 98' as a daily driver today. I really like my chevy, my wife now drives a Tahoe. When we were just starting out, the Fords were cheaper. We had a good run with Ford up until the end.
Dam good idea, putting the leftover oil mix on the trailer wood floor. It works fine.
Never hurts to save a few dollar when I can.
Awesome video bro!
Appreciate it!
