    Thank you for making this. I am in constant paranoia and fear after getting jumped and realizing my anxiety and PTSD affected that part of me. But I am now realizing it can make me stronger. Thank you for making this video and also talking about the male thinking and toxic masculinity of it

      in my opinion fear arises from the fact that we're worried about the outcome or if we're going to lose. like Nick says there's nothing better than sparring because this cements in one's head that you can actually do what you've been training to do. I believe the majority of people about to engage are fearful regardless of what one says...

      No. Some people are scared of just getting hit. Your opinion sounds like a person that's used to fighting and fears losing.

    I am 68 years old and I had a confrontation with a daytime intruder in my house last year ( he slipped in bcs the back door was unlocked, my fault.) The adrenalin kicked in immediately flooding my body , the struggle lasted a few minutes at the end of which I had him outside the house . I used the RNC, side chancery + hammer fist., he managed to break free outside but the police arrived and caught him shortly afterwards.Because of the adrenalin I honestly didn't feel any fear at any time during the 5 mins. that the whole thing lasted , this is NOT a boast just a statement of fact, nature provided the answer to the fear problem so i didn't need any psychology!

    What about someone with anxiety disorder/social anxiety disorder? I feel fear a million times stronger than a normal person. It paralyzes me. I would defend myself by all means if I had to but I don’t want fear to take over. I wanna be able to be calm, & use it to my advantage so I can win the fight.

    Hey Nick, I'm not sure if you could help me with something but I really wanted to share my experience with you. I'm a 17 year old guy and I was biking today for fun. I was minding my own business truly in a good neighborhood when 3 guys around the ages of 24-25 pulled up to me in a white Dodge charger and told me that they didn't like me (for no reason) and they said thay I should never go back to their Street area again otherwise I would "regret it". I asked them why.. but they just kept threatening me and I had no valid reason to call their bluff and figth back since I didn't even know them so I just walked away... I didn't want to fight them because I unfortunately froze and I was truly scared shitless. These guys got out of the car and were really violating my space. So basically I was harassed. I got on my bike and I started going home and they even followed me very slowly in their car and started hurling insults at me and throwing shit at me. The thing is these guys were not fakers... they would have all seriously whooped my ass like a gang would. I keep beating myself up about it because I just let it happen. It was so humiliating and I always stand up for myself but I felt hopeless and truly insecure about this situation. I was at the mercy of violent opposition. What you said in the video has helped but what do you think I should have done? PS I'm joining a boxing gym. or a self defense class. A good one.

      By the way I know physical strength is a factor in a street fight but do you think that with a little bit of luck and skill (I've been in boxing for 3 years) I could have defended myself effectively or?? A response would sure help. Thank you.

      i think u did right. cause u never know what would happen to you in a 1 vs 3 , maybe they had guns or something like that. Not going into such a fight is a normal survival instinct i think.

      Just internalize that situation and use it for fuel to help you be better prepared for that situation in the future which seems like you're already doing anyways. They ganged up on you as well (3 vs 1) which shows how much of muppets they are in the first place

      Common sense is not common. you did the rite thing . but if it's getting to you that much hunt them down 1 by 1 and fight them individually. if ur not perpered to do that let it go. I personally would let it go..

    Great videos. I am using all your advice and techniques in our self-defense unit with my high school PE students who are among the most vulnerable to be attacked. So, we are teaching them about awareness, flight, defusing, full commitment in the attack, speed and power, psychology of fear and of your opponent, as well, of course as offensive combinations, hitting techniques, hitting for speed and power, defense, etc. Thanks for these posts. Indispensable real world experience.

    guys guys guys. calm down.
    I'll tell you what it's all about.
    you have to seem insane on the outside and on the inside you can be as scared as you want.
    literally, everyone feels nervous or afraid before a fight.
    even Connor McGregor, even Joe shmoe off the street who you've once heard gave a guy a hematoma with his pinky.
    you have to think, "what's the worst that could happen if I get in this fight? well, it's death. and being dead and going out with pride in fighting for yourself is better than being alive and being someone's bitch"
    so three major things from that.
    insanity, it's all okay and you can kill me only once.
    thank you, thank you.
    this has been a guide on...something?

      is it really worth to being disabled person in the name of proud? would you choose wheelchair or runaway? Every street fight is a great risk. If you are not a proffesionalist, and you are alone in front of few attackers running away is reasonable, isnt it?

    Fear might be my biggest enemy here, and having anxiety doesn't help. I've been told countless times to train my heart before my fighting techniques. Qigong really helps with my awareness training as when I go out, I can see what's going on around me and become hyper aware. This mental training is very valueable here in Japan where you're not even allowed to fight back. Keep up the good work Mr. Drossos and could you do a video on pushing someone away? I learned how to push people in Tai Chi and it's what I would do to create distance to enable escape.

    Use your fear to your advantage by allowing it but controlling it. You want that Cortisol to keep flowing until the fight is won. Showing the tiniest bit of fear or hesitation likely will cause you to lose the fight. Become the aggressor to the aggressor and he will start thinking and that leaves him vulnerable. Make him aware that he just opened a can of whoop-ass and he's going down!

    The issue with me is fear that paralyzes you; makes you physically weak;
    And so need to learn to overcome that ;
    To recognize it and label it: it is the adrenaline! and realize it as such and to then acknowledge that I’m ready to go🥊
    And it is hard; to retrain the brain like that…

    3 Top Tips To Overcome Fear In A Street Fight ... ok guys... the 3 tips are good... overcoming, or at least "kind of knowing" how to deal with FEAR will always help... the only thing missing is the( fourth A ) .... its ACTION ... I love nics videos.. i have shown my own daughters his tips... never be a victim. just remember to save your own ass at all costs...But that will always need some action... there is some GREAT advice) especially for woman who have no idea about self defence.. just watch his other clips.. ....but don't ever be victims girls.. not if you can help it...
