Fun fact, the CAD files of this figure surpass most titans in pure polygon count due to the complexity of the sculptwork.
That makes total sense, honestly though a lot of Titan's don't have as much Sculptwork as they probably should.
Also helps that this guy is made of Smooth Surfaces.
I like to believe that the good beast wars figures are Hasbro’s way of apologizing for kingdom not having that many compared to g1

4:50 Ravage was not a Predicon he was only in 1 episode and he explicitly said “Deceipticons Forever!!!” Ravage is one of(if not the only) characters in BW that is canonically a DECEPTICON. HOW DID YOU MISS THAT???
I did not actually. If you look at his hip, it has a Predacon symbol on it, as well as in the fact that they OUT RIGHT STATE in the show that he was Reformatted into a Predacon. Those are their exact words.
He's still loyal to his old Faction, but he is now in a Predacon Body.
This is one of 4 figures ever to make me stop in my tracks and just glare in awe ar how amazing it is, those others being Legacy Black Zarak, 86 Grimlock and Kingdom Blackarachnia. This figure is mind blowing. It is absolutely amazing. Even if the head is more Gigatron than Megatron, it is gorgeous. Words can't describe how great it is

Transmetal 2 Megatron was my holy grail toy as a kid while Beast Wars aired. I had every version of him and Optimus up until that point (including the bat vs alligator set) but never got the dragon. So 2 years ago when I discovered Jiang Xing and their 3rd party Winged Dragon (this character) I just had to get it which I did and I consider it the centerpiece of my collection but I'm really tempted to get this figure now, which I initially overlooked. Admittedly WingedDragon, for me, is mostly a display piece due to his size, weight, complexity and the fact that the more I touch it the higher the chance more of that beautiful paint job will get damaged.
But this toy doesn't seem to be left wanting. Good size, complex (for a mainline) transformation, no QC issues, and a good enough paintjob for the budget. I wish given the lack of accessories they could've given him an articulated right hand but the recent leak about a Leader class Tigerhawk coming next year is making this purchase very tempting. For how good WingedDragon is, there's nobody for him to be displayed with as there's no 3rd party TigerHawk for the forseeable future and he's taller than TransArt's version of Optimal Optimus (which happens to pair well with Legacy's version).
I love me some Masterpiece and 3P figures, but a lot of the time they are more for display than for play.
I think if you pick this up you will not be disappointed.

I picked this guy up a couple months back and I gotta say that this is one of the few modern leaders that I genuinely think warrants the price point
I think a few of them have really done the trick, but yeah, guys like Blitzwing and Starscream really dont.

Also, if you don’t have him already, Tarn has to be the best figure from Legacy Evo. The robot mode has literally no kibble, it looks great, and I had to stop myself from just sitting at my desk and posing him repeatedly, since he has several specialty joints and just feels evil. Transformation has some interesting parts that are not very intuitive, and the alt mode is hindered by the hands sticking out the back, but definitely a must. Can’t wait to see your thoughts.
I have not found him yet, but people are telling me that he's VERY good.
The Robot mode does look gorgeous.
I can't wait to give you my thoughts when I finally have the opportunity.

This one is truly amazing! (Was gifted it as a birthday present at the star of the year).
Managed to swap around the claw tips as intended by design (much harder than how Wiki makes it seem, but definitely doable, albeit very carefully so as not to break anything).
Such a perfect figure in every way! And the 'hand feel' is sublime. Transports me to the QC of 4 decades ago when yours truly began collecting TFs somehow.

What do you mean by Swapping the claws around?
@PerspectiveEnd According to TF Wiki, the topmost moveable wing tip claws are meant to point the other way around. Makes more sense once it is done, and the figure works even better!
I feel like it would be exceptionally easy and funny to make a video compilation of PE talking about feet for an hour.

Yeah he has a TON of Presence with those wings, I had to get mine on Amazon, even if I saw one at Target the day it showed up.

I just saw a video from someone doing a simple mod to give the neck more bend. It involves popping off the neck pieces at the bottom. It'll make the bottom of the neck look more hollow, but gives a greater range of bending.
I'm thinking about shaving those pieces down to try the same.

Here's the thing... It actually made the Transformation easier. That one tab actually was getting in the way it seems. It's more Fun to Transform now. So aside from one Tiny tab I'd actually advise to cut off now, I've had NO issues with the QC.

I've heard pretty universal praise for this beastie, and I'm glad he holds up so well. I personally prefer transmetal 1 Megs (it's mostly the colours), but the dragon style looks superbly done.
I do love the TM1 form, and that's why I love the Transarts one so much.
Megatron's robot head looks like it's about to say "Give me your grilled cheese" in a weird voice.

And as for the figure, I'm not 100% sure, but since you said the Flame effeckt is reused it got me thinking from where it comes from. And I think that's a re-use from a Comander TF5 Megatron.
Also, technicly there is one thing that this figure is missing, but I also know that it is a part that literally NOBODY cares about. Aka the transport mode. (but like I said, I struggle to find anyone who ever cared about this part).

He’s so pretty, the face just kills it for me. If I had the shelf space I’d love to display him in dragon mode. That way he can be a statement piece and you don’t have to look at his goofy mug.

You now Know how I feel about Cryotek.
In dragon mode the right leg on mine detaches more easily from the body than the left leg, both legs connect differently to the body: the right leg connects on with a hole while the left leg connects on with a rod. I was wondering in dragon mode do either of the legs detach more easily than the other on yours or is this just a QC issue with mine? I mean it stands fine but was just wondering if it’s just supposed to be looser because the connecting port is different
PE, I was going to tell you about the DNA upgrade kit to "fix" the face sculpt, but it appears you already know about it. Still I feel as though this gives the figure some extra touches that simply improve upon its overall greatness. I did pick this figure up, but not for myself. Instead this will be my nephew's Easter gift. He's 8 and this is going to blow his fucking mind.
Anyway, amazing review once again. I'm off to repaint some more Target/Battlemasters.

I know that's not the same sequence, but... Like... I couldn't think of a better response.
The Legacy multiverse portal has opened from the Beast Wars universe to ours, and enters the Transmetal 2 dragon Megatron. He looks awesome as hell. Robot and dragon modes are a beast of a design to behold. Will be interesting to see if or when Hasbro repaints him as Cryotek.
-He will be reissued in Legacy Evolution. I would have waited for that if I didn't find his Legacy packaging out in the wild.
Personally I'm not down for a Cryotek. Not a fan of that dude. Stole Megatrons Altmode, stole his thunder as the mastermind of Golden Disk Theft.
And Cybertronians dont have beast modes on Cybertron.
I absolutely loved this guy when I first got him in hand, this is Hasbro’s best leader class figure in a modern day CHUG line so far! Everything from his colouring to his robot and dragon modes are all glorious there’s no better way to say it! The next big leader class I’m looking forward too soon is the upcoming Armada Megatron, that guy will be amazing!
I don't know that we can be sure Armada Megs will be big yet.

Sorry that wrist tab broke on your copy, but as long as it does not directly hinder the transformation, I guess its only a small injury for Megatron. lol Jokes aside, I have been wanting a figure of Transmetal II dragon Megatron ever since I watched Beast Wars back in 2018, and this figure has gone beyond my expectations on how fantastic a modern figure of BW Megatron's final form can have. :D Keep on being amazing.
Honestly I think the Transformation is LESS trouble now without that tab, so it's only better.

This figure makes me so glad I got the POTP Optimal Optimus and one of its upgrade kits. They look great together and, from what I can tell from the show, actually scale almost perfectly

If you loved TM2 Megs this much, I can't wait to see you review Tarn. I picked one up a week or two ago, and it's absurd. It feels like they made an R.E.D toy and decided to give it an alt-mode. There are basically zero gaps in robot mode, and the poseability is nuts. There are one or two small hangups during the transformation, but overall, I'm a big fan.
I mean if it was a RED figure then it wouldn't be able to pose well because they couldn't even do that right in the RED line.
And man I just can not find that thing yet.

Yeah it's for sure up there with me, if it's not my favorite, which it may very well be.
04:35. I'm mixed. The lack of chrome makes him more Organic. The random giant eyeballs on his body looks very original Trilogy Resident Evil/Biohazard.
The only way to get Maximals on par with the Predacons is to either hope Silverbolt and the eventual depthcharge are S+ tier, or we get toy beast wars characters that are A+ tier.
Also I think the only reason Megatron looks show accurate, is because there are no real dragons to make him accurate to, so they don't have to stick to make it real life accurate.
Also also, my beast wars collection is temporary finished (may get this guy and Leo primal, don't have Airazor or Tigatron do to not like Airazor's face and not wanting to get bigger Cheetor with out her, and wanting toy beast wars characters)

Yeah here's hoping they can do those right. I mean the Original Silverbolt was nearly Perfect so that should be easy enough.

The exact same thing happened to me with ‘86 hot rod a few years back, I ordered it online and then saw them fully stocked at my local Walmart.
And man, regarding this figure, the sheer poseability surprised me. Legacy’s been pretty slow in my book, but when something’s good, it’s great.
Yeah Legacy has been a mixed bag especially in wave 3, but this was top tier.
And yeah this happened to me with Cyclonus as well.

Another thing gimmick wise is that Transmetal 1 peeps were "triple changers" in a sense as they had some (pretty half-assed) vehicle modes...except for Optimal Optimus, who has two (because he's a quad changer). Transmetal 2 peeps LOSE the vehicle mode entirely. No flip-out jet engines for Cheetor or Megatron, for instance. (PotP took away the "truck" mode of Optimal Optimus for the sake of the Evolution gimmick, but the DNA Design upgrade kits brings it back along with extra goodies)
That's not true. Cheetor had the Extending Singular Rocket in his back in his TM2 mode, and TM Megatron did have an AWFUL Truck Mode.

Definitely a favorite Legacy for me. I love when a figure is just enjoyable to look at no matter what mode it's in. I don't even mind the toy styled robot face THAT much, as it fits the vibe of the rest of it (massive red demon of hate). For full presence, I like the wings splayed in every mode.
Yeah the Wings Splayed is the best way to have him, It just takes up so much room when you are trying to review him, so I didn't.
Yeah this is such an amazing figure I bought it online cause the only leader sized class figures that the Walmart where I work is Blitzing and the re-issue Galvatron. And the only flaws are nit picks with the biggest be the dragon mode chest plate, like in my opinion it's tabbed in a bit too low on the chest or the part of the neck where the robot made had "hides" could hide it better.
Yeah my walmart is exactly the same it's infuriating. I don't want Blitzwing, and Galvatron has already been Rereleased once before, I don't need this BARELY different version.

1:11 Yeah, speaking of distribution again, the Target where I found Tarn and Scraphook also just started getting copies of Hot Shot, Armada Starscream, and one copy of Inferno-of whom I did buy and do thoroughly enjoy.
However I did not see any new Leaders like TM2 Megatron or The Fallen yet. I’ll have to eventually see at other stores when I have the time.
But man does it say something when Legacy Wave 3 is only now starting to properly show up in American stores-at least from everywhere I’ve been-and they’re releasing at the same time as Legacy Evolution; the current wave we’re supposed to be focused on at the moment.
It’s time like these where I really miss Toys “R” Us. Since they were mostly a toy store, all toy related companies would send their products there. And I believe that if Toys “R” Us was still around in America-as proper stores-we’d be seeing better distribution of Transformers figures. Seriously, we really need the return of a general retailer toy store in America. The UK has Smyths while we have nothing at the moment.

Yeah I REALLY miss Toy's R' Us super bad. My childhood store meant a lot to me, and it was nice to have a place that could be relied upon to have Toys in it and not bare shelves.
I got $50 for Christmas, should I get this or wait and save up for the Commander Class Optimus Prime that's coming out in 2024?
Signal Flare & Skyblast from Energon both have Rattrap Mafia knees as well (I got em last week [I been into Energon cores in general & deluxe Autobots]).

@@PerspectiveEnd they belong to the Autobots subfraction called Omnicons in Energon/Super-Link. There opposites were the beastial Terrorcons. Both, in video game terms, could buff stats of others considerably, as well as craft weapons & armors. They were basically weaponizers before WFC weaponizers, but only did so via their 2 to 5 piece multipart weapons & energon stars to represent aforementioned stat buffing.
The Terrorcons had a Ravage type which had a beast mode more true to the G1 original, the humanoid mode of the BW Ravage, & weapons that homaged Megatron arm cannon & a single missle shooting version of a Seeker null ray. There was also a G1 Laserbeak & Buzzsaw homage, a rhino beetle Insecticon, & a late 90s US godzilla homage.
Omnicon Skyblast was a Jetfire/Skyfire homage whom spear could be broken down into: a kite shield & sword, a buckler shield & sword & either a single double ended dagger or pair of single ended daggers, OR rifle & either a single double ended dagger or pair of single ended daggers. The Omnicon Arcee was the basis for the first Flame War toy. While Strongarm could ironically be seen as a G1 deco Swindle homage + a blue Swindle homage (there some JP redeco of the combaticons I can't recall the names of at presently & TFwiki doesn't have em listed as redecos like they do at the end of many, but not all toy descriptions. Signal Flare meanwhile is a mazer tank from Godzilla.

No. It's not. Not even a little. You'd need some kind of Adaptor. There's no hole in the base of this, and it's hard plastic.

The one figure I'm hoping to get is Legacy Evolution Tarn and the core class Dinobots the pocket-size combiner it's a really neat concept
I can't find a Tarn, but so far I'm unimpressed by the Dinobots.

this was my fav figure of last year and considering other figures i got like the neca tmnt archie comic slash and the diamond select hulk/red hulk says a lot of this figures quality and is going to be hard to top............but we will see when armada optimus comes out because he looks fantastic so far
Yeah it's just a Fantastic piece, and I don't understand how people found it last year when mine came off Preorder like just a few days ago.
I know we got an Optimal Optimus not too long ago from Potp, but I’d love to have a Leader or Commander Optimal comparable to this behemoth of a dragon.
I mean I do think that PotP figure is pretty much the Equivalent of this. This is a little nicer, but that's a little bigger.

See Cryotek Buggs me because 1 why would Megatron get Cryotek's altmode, and 2 that's not Possible because Cybertronains on Cybertron don't have Beast Modes, they have Vehicle Modes.
It is not Compatible with him no. You'd need some kind of adapter. It's Hard plastic with a Regular sized Peg, and no hole in the base.
