To the negative comments, keep in mind that the Foos were christening a brand new music venue in Dave's hometown at this show. It was opening night and a much smaller venue than they'd normally play. Dave has a history with the owner, who also owned the 930 Club, where Dave saw and played a ton of shows growing up. They let Seth play drums and Taylor butcher the singing a little bit, but really all more as a celebration of the new venue, and no one was taking this cover all that seriously. They were basically just fuckin around for this one.
What a great way to inform those who are quick to comment. As a former professional musician I can say with confidence that often times folks don’t understand that a “jam session” or just jam’n can just be a fun way to blow off steam for a moment. It’s designed to be a fun experience, nothing to be taken as serious or “radio cut/performance perfect.” You can f***-up the words, miss a cord or skip a beat. What makes Dave and the Foos so great is that they’re willing to do that with the fans present. Which is truly what rock is all about. As opposed to some bands that are more focused on their image.
