Thank for this straight forward and informative video. I’ve been struggling to find a definitive solution on how to upload 4k footage to Instagram. I’ve recently purchased an Osmo Pocket 3 and was playing with the idea of use Davinci and fortunately I came across your video that told me everything I needed to know. Thank you!!!
Excellent info here. Having seen a glimpse of your color grading nodes, I'd like to see you do a color grading vid with the type of node tree you have in this vid. Thanks for the informative vid.
i have an old video with a standard color grading node tree i like to use, so feel free to take a look at that! i’m definitely gonna update it again at some point though!
What type of node do you have to add when changing the sharpening of the clips on the whole timeline? Also, what about if my video was filmed in 24FPS, should I export it in 30FPS? Thanks!
yep, it’s the corrector node. if your clip was filmed in 24fps, then you’ll need to export it in 30fps. i always shoot 30fps or above and export in 30fps for that reason
Thanks for the video! Why 29.97 instead of 30, if you film in 30fps? And when I import a 30fps clip into Davinci that's set up at 29.97fps, it asks it I want to change the project frame rate, do you change?
i actually don’t know the diff between 29.97 vs 30, my brain has always just associated them to be the same 😂 i do the same wirh 23.976 vs 24fps. that being said, i always make my timeline first and make sure its at 29.97, and i dont think i’ve ever seen the prompt to ask if i want to change the frame rate. but if that pop up comes up, i would just click “don’t change”. hope that helps!
I had the same issue, and from what I’ve read people are saying that 30 fps is usually what companies call it because 24, 29.97 and 60 fps just doesn’t look as good/ isn’t as intuitive. So when we film in 30 we are actually filming in 29.97 and that’s why davinci asks us to change it. Again, that’s just what I’ve read. If anyone can confirm or has info I’d love to hear it
Just curious how you handle the loss of color and saturation that happens when the video goes from davinci to iPhone? Do u tweak it again from your photo gallery?
the final step before exporting of setting it to rec709, srgb has pretty much negated the color shift (still happens a little, but not as much as default)
@@herokme I have that checked as well. I’m running tests now. With your method it’s still pretty flat on colors but it’s not difficult to tweak in phone edit settings so I’ll just have to live with that.
@@herokmeso we can actually put the same settings that you put in the video but in format change it to 60fps or higher and will be exported instagram ? Because i have seen many stories or reels in 60fp/ and sometimes feels like even higher than that and i was wondering how is that possible sunce you put 30fps in your video ? :)
@@herokmewell i’m a gamer so i kinda notice the difference between 30fps and 60 or more and also i asked the guy who posted it how did he made it, and he told me he changed the framreate from 24 to 60fps. Can i send you the reel on instagram if you want to see it ?
You need certain amount of followers for instagram to increase your bitrate. Accounts with just few hundred followers get bad bitrate compression no matther what.
I notice it too, ppl with many followers have better quality. I also see some comments that if you're using an iphone to upload gets a better quality than android users.
you’re clicking on the wrong thing. there’s two dots at the top that control a clip grade or timeline grade. it doesn’t say “timeline” until you hover over it. depending on how your layout is, it might also be a dropdown menu next to “clip”
@@herokme damn, found it, amazing that was a great shout. Iv always been compounding the entire timeline after basic adjustments this leaves me room to go back and tweak individual clips if needed with ease
For ROOKIES like me this tutorial SUCKS!!! it doesn't show step by step it only shows you step by step what settings are good to upload to Instagram not to edit the video
Grouping for color grading, timeline level sharpness and saving an export preset - all top notch tips I hadn’t seen before. Thanks for this video!!!
glad it was helpful! thanks for the support! 🔥🙏🏻
Thanks man. This was very helpful, and the editing is very fluid!
glad to hear that! thanks for your support! 🙏🏻

@@herokme Excellent. Many thanks.
Changed my life 🙏
ayoo 🔥
thanks for the good vid!
🥷🥷🥷 you got it wilson flips 🔥
Awesome!
I believe Instagram are giving big accounts a higher bitrate allowance than small accounts,
just a conspiracy theory but it might be ture!
interesting! i wish they would just tell us what to use for the highest quality 😂
@@herokme seriously, a lot of guessing and speculation about this online
good thumbnail ayeh
thanks!
Thanks. What do you use for audio settings while exporting?
just wherever the default is tbh

it’s just a standard serial node!
@@herokme Sorry I'm very new to this. Would that be the corrector one?

@@herokme hmm okay mine still shifts pretty drastically I have to figure out why that’s happening.
@soupjargon check davinci settings > general. there was an option that’s something like “use mac display colors”
@@herokme I have that checked as well. I’m running tests now. With your method it’s still pretty flat on colors but it’s not difficult to tweak in phone edit settings so I’ll just have to live with that.
@@soupjargonyou need to choose Rec 709-A in your settings and in the export settings.
There are tons of videos explaining this.
What would be the correct workflow for clips recorded In 60fps?
you would still export in 30fps
How much bitrate should i use for 4k Instagram reels like some editors posts.. (Movie, animation 4k reels) I use media encoder.. Please tell me
for instagram, i wouldn’t use 4k. 1080 only
@@herokme & the bitrate?
Is this applicable for Facebook reels, UA-cam shorts and TikTok as well?
i do it for youtube shorts as well. i don’t post on facebook and tiktok unfortunately so i can’t speak about those
I tryed this but sadly insta still compressed my reel
use 5000 bit rate instead of 16000.
Does Instagram support videos in 60fps or higher?
yes it does!

What about h.265 codec?
instagram doesn’t support h265 unfortunately. i would stick with h264
Try HEVC and 45000k

Sorry dude but timeline option just toggles the view of the time line, I can’t see how it effects every clip? Iv tried and it just toggles view

@woodcraft_cz it’s definitely a nice tool to use!
Why does it say max kb/s is 3500 for insta?? Which I think is very low and quality is not great
16000 is what i’m recommending!
@@herokme thanks I’ll give it a go and see if it makes a difference thanks
🔥🔥
Why not h.265
instagram doesn’t support h265 unfortunately. it will still upload, but the quality won’t be the same as a format it supports
@@herokme I didn't know
*promosm* 🤭
Try 10000 kbps ;)
i’ve tried a whole variety of bitrates, but if 10000 works for you, great!
