    The wonders of the female body! Thank you AGAIN, Khan Academy, for this thorough explanation of the lactation process and breast anatomy. I especially appreciated the breakdown of how we are wired to respond to a crying baby because of our complex chemical makeup. It's truly amazing to consider that humankind is created and sustained by our ability to service the growth and health of each other, even from birth. AMAZING! The female is the mother to ALL! #birthinglittlehumans

    I learned to distinguish the oxytocin wave. I can feel it after 1 minute if hugging someone, having good company, or thinking of my kids. My milk ejects sometimes after a meal or because its " booby time" soon.

    prolactin inhibiting factor (dopamine) is produced in the hypothalamus.

  • @daniellekernan2052

    Isn't Oxytocin produced by the hypothalamus and RELEASED by the posterior pituitary? The way you said it makes it seem like posterior pituitary is producing the oxytocin, which is definitely misleading!

    • @ammerrstf838
      @ammerrstf838 7 років тому +10

      Nucleus paraventricularis in hypothalamus produces oxytocin (a nanopeptide) and it's then transported through neurons (infundibulum) to the neurohypophysis where it's stored in secretory vesicles and released

  • @ibericaaurora8866

    The video is really clarifying!
    Just one more thing to say: oxytocin is NOT produced by the pituitary gland. It is produced by the paraventricular nucleus in the hypothalamus and conducted by neurons to the posterior pituitary, where it is released.
    Anyway, thanks for the help

    I'd like to know how the woman's body produces the milk. I believe she makes it from the food she eats.

    • @bayernaa5985
      @bayernaa5985 3 роки тому +1

      Actually milk is made from the brain. Hypothalamus to pituitary gland to prolactin and oxytocin. The food she eats just contributes to the contents and quality of the breast milk.

    So I absolutely *NEVER* want children, but I still wish I could lactate just for the sake of being able to.
    (I want to know what it tastes like, that's all.)
    I wish there was a way to induce lactation without needing pregnancy 😭
