I really wanted a sailboat so I decided to make one from 3 sheets of plywood, construction adhesive, materials from my local hardware store and some bits from a thrift store. This is the second video in the series, where I make the rudder, leeboard and the mast.

Great videos! I really enjoyed the use of the frying pan to fabricate the gudgeons. Such creativeness! Bravo
Thanks so much! 😊
Amazing that you can do all that. I espcially appreciate and commend you for doing this project with your son. A lot of days not around like you are.
Nice to see you and Sam working together on this project! The boat looks great!
Thanks! It was great getting to hang out in the garage together!
Looks like perfect project for a first boat build
Great job and walkthrough! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Part 2 - awesome, too.
😁
Brilliant Chris! The Storer canoe build was terrific for tips on low-buck and fun builds, but now you've topped it with the PD series. Thanks to you and family for putting these together. Great stuff. Cheers from Halifax 👌
You are so welcome! Yeah, even though this was a more complicated build, we finished it way faster than the canoe, I think mostly just from cutting out the epoxy. So much less time spent measuring, mixing, sanding, and cleaning up.
New and impressed, thank you.
Great to have you here, Thanks for watching!
Way better than when we tried to sail our canoe!
The attention to detail in building and camera work is great! I hope you enjoy your boat!
Thank you! I have been having so much fun with this boat, can't wait for summer so we can get her out on the water again!!
Awesome build!
Thanks so much!!
What a great project ,how you presented this is fantastic.👍
Many thanks!
Great tips about waterproofing and prototyping with cardboard
Glad it was helpful!!
You always make such good videos, I hope your channel blows up and you get the followers you deserve and they find a great talent!
Thank you soooo much! I appreciate it!
My favorite part is…”and…clamped the snot out of it.” Makes me laugh every time. I’ve watched a few times, because I am making a removable sailing kit for two kayaks. We might call it a kayakamaran.
NIce, that sounds fun!
Ideally I think it is always best to apply glue to both surfaces . 🙂
Fantastic Effort Chris. Replace the rudder fitting screws for the transom with bolts ... you will thank me. Or how would you know that they were going to pull out if you replaced them!? But do it :)
Ahh, thanks for that tip, I do trust that you have profoundly more experience in knowing how to not end up in a broken boat:) I'll most definitely swap the screws for bolts. Mind me asking what is the best way to seal the bolt holes so no water gets into the boat through them?
Oh wow. Cool.
One of the most entertaining builds ever! Well done. Tell me, what timber was used for your mast?
I just used whatever was at the hardware store, it didn't say, but I'm guessing spruce or fir.
Привет,я так понимаю это самый малый класс парусника? Класса Оптимист?
Did you make the gudgeon template yourself?
Yes I did, if it's something you'd be interested in, I can probably make it available somewhere....
Love it! - If you'd ever like to build another, check out the "Weekender" :-)
Thanks for the tip! I'm super tempted to make something a bit bigger. Maybe next summer.....
Gudgeon small bottom feeding fish found in ponds and rivers Europe.;
Would love to do this project with my girlfriend
I enjoyed watching all your hard work, although I find it misleading to be advertised as "cheap and easy".
Fair enough, though I guess it depends what you are comparing it to. For me, compared to the canoe I made a couple of years ago, it was much cheaper (no epoxy costs) and much quicker (no sanding all the epoxy) I am not actually sure what other sailing vessel you could build cheaper or easier than this little boat......
𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙢 😘
Nooooo...not the Play School CD. What about Jemima and Big Ted
😂
