Maybe you should take this video down. Some people might just act impulsively. Instead of checking out the updates, they might just go straight to the company (or the incorrect company) and still leave a shitty review etc. Just an idea 🤷🏻♀️
It’s great that you linked your update video here. You’ve built a very loyal (& petty) family, and we can get vengeful lol. I’m sure your viewers will remove their negative reviews if they’re made aware! Hopefully, the innocent company can get more business to counterbalance any negative effects this had. In all honesty, I hope you keep this video up, as well as the update. You’ll stop others from being scammed, because I bet there are tons of people who would love to get their hands on that jumpsuit!! ❤
@@cassy420blaze She literally just explained it, lol. She's doing everyone else a favour by telling us about her experience and allowing us to make our own decisions as to whether or not we buy from this "company". Her bank is gonna get her money back - and we're all aware about this website so that we ALSO don't become victims.
Thank you for actually saying the company name. It's annoying when people talk about their bad/scamming experience but don't give us the company name to stay away from.
As soon as the first package failed to arrive and they failed to respond to you within a week, I would have immediately called the credit card company. If any business does not get back to you in a timely fashion after one point of contact, they are sus.
I understand you, but having worked in CS sometimes there can be situations out of control where there are delays. 1-2 times it happened we got delayed almost 2 weeks in responses to customers and let me tell you, getting immediately to your CC is the most Karen move, because that causes a lot of problems and when we can help you, we can't do anything because there's a charge back. So I would say that unless you tried to contact them all the ways possible and you didn't get a reply, then you can try it, but it shouldn't be your first or second option.
@@alfredogm4148 lol no. It's not "being a Karen" to dispute a charge because the company did not hire enough CS people to handle normal business communications. 2 weeks is a lot of time if you are ordering something time sensitive. There are also timelines of challenging a transaction. If I suspect something is wrong, the first move is to contact your cc.
@@alfredogm4148 Alfredo sweetheart, we don’t have TIME to wait 2 WHOLE WEEKS for your “delays” to clear up. Your delay is not OUR fault and we shouldn’t be negatively affected by it especially after not getting something we paid for, which your company’s already at fault for or else I probably wouldn’t be contacting customer service in the first place, right? It didn’t take your company 2 weeks to take the money out of my account so why should we accept taking 2 weeks to receive it back when you’ve failed to fulfil your end of the trade. Yeah ish happens, I understand that but I shouldn’t be at a lost of money AND product/service then get called a Karen for going to my CC to get my money back so I can possibly get that product or service from somewhere else that WOULD deliver. Like Charlotte’s situation, she wouldn’t have had two weeks to wait for something like that so I think it’s good she’s going to the CC.
27 year UPS guy here, I'm guessing that the packages didn't have international customs paperwork on them and that's why they didn't even make it out of the town they were shipped from. They were picked up and immediately returned to the shipper. And, unfortunately, when the lady at FedEx told you that a refund was issued, she was only talking about a refund to Theia for the FedEx charges.
This is eye opening info. I hope Charlotte sees this. Not that it will help her financially, she will get her refund. Just that it will make some sense out of the confusing shipping info & she will see it for what it really is sooner, should this happen again. Thanks so much!❤
Just to add; Some scammers also hijack legit tracking numbers to your area. I've just been scammed the same way, but my package was delivered to a random person not far away. I called to the curier (DHL), and they told me that that package is not for me - at all. Never got a response from the seller again, thankfully I paid through paypal and got my money back easily.
Rule: when ordering anything from a site or brand you don't recognize, reverse image search the photos of people wearing the outfits and check for any type of legit review that is not linked to the site. The scammer brands just snatch proper photographer photos and post them up and have their site or an adjacent site with fake reviews come up. All they have to do is use a bunch of computers and mess with the algorithm by searching that site name specifically on Google over and over again to make it pop up.
@@glitterstudent7066 looked into it a little after I got on my PC (so damn bored). Brand started with a guy, got a deal selling with Neiman Marcus, made a dress for a singer at an award thing (can't remember her name), SUPPOSED to be an "empire" in the business according to some articles, but can't find anything but puff pieces with zero in actual revenue or outreach. every site I could find that sold that item was sold out (which means they haven't been making new stock) and likely everything that was being sold 3rd party was leftovers from the initial sales made years ago. Since one of the url links in their code led to media files from Neiman Marcus, which doesn't sell it on their site anymore. The fact they still have it up on the site means either poor management of the site or they're swindling people with an item they no longer have any stock of.
Everybody should pay close attention to how Charlotte handled this problem: she documented everything, and was courteous and accurate and just plain classy in all her written communications. That’s how you get refunds through credit card disputes. Good for you Charlotte - these scammers are going to realise they messed with the wrong lady.
I would have also included in my final email, "If I do not receive a response by [XX/XX Date], I will be filing a chargeback with my credit card company." Generally, chargebacks hurt companies and they don't want them on their record. Setting a Date communicates your expectations for a "timely response" and the consequence if they fail to do so.
I did all of this and still never got my money back! was a scam company all together! my CC wouldn't even give me the money back because they sent a fake shipping receipt and claimed that the product "had been delivered" and nothing was ever delivered!
My three tips for spotting these scammers: 1) Always look for an “about us” section and try to find the headquarters. If it’s hard to find/buried, that’s a red flag. Also, sorry to say, if it’s in China - also a red flag. 2) If the spelling/grammar on the website are bad - red flag. 3) If they’re offering insane markdowns - also a red flag. BONUS CONTENT: Always pay with your credit card and not your debit card. This way, you can dispute the expense if/when you get scammed., and you’re likely to get your money back.
Yes, if the company doesn't show their address, buyer beware! Theia does NOT show their address anywhere on their site. Also, because I'm sneaky-petty, I use Google Earth to check that a sus company's address is legit. Sometimes it's a rando house in the middle of nowhere !😡
Yes! My friend was about to buy this really great coat for insanely cheap, off a tiktok shop she was recommended. They never answered the questions in the comments and I couldn't find a thing about them or reviews. Screamed scam, glad I talked her out of it
Any time I've tried to buy from a company that did not actually ship to my country I would get a "sorry we do not ship to your country" message and the checkout process was stopped there with no way to push it through. So yeah they totally scammed you twice and thanks for the heads up.
This happened to me yesterday with Hais of Gaunt in the UK, get to the checkout and they're like, sorry no shipping to your address. Sad but thanks for not taking my money and never sending anything! Edit-they didn't let me finish checking out because of the shipping thing, sorry if it wasn't clear!
@@Darbster I always got that message before any payment was processed stopping my order completely. Sorry you got scammed but hopefully you can cancel and put a stop payment through.
Make finding scammer companies a petty series. I would be so invested in it !! And good for you for standing up for yourself because a lot of times companies like this get away with it because people don’t wanna deal with the hassle!
That would be so fun actually! I'm sure a lot of her viewers would be down to donating small amounts of money to be spent on buying items just to see if the websites provides, and in what condition if so. And then she could have these fun subscriber giveaways with the successful items and such!
I just took a look at their site. I went to their ‘terms of service’ page as I thought that would be interesting considering your experience. I expected to read the usual list of terms and conditions listed by every company. Theirs? Blank. Just the heading Terms of Service followed by absolutely nothing. I don’t know much about consumer law in the USA but I’m pretty sure that not having any terms of service listed on your site would be illegal. Dodgy assed scammers is my thought.
Surprisingly, companies are not legally required to have a terms of service on their pages. It's highly recommanded but not something that legally has to exist on their site.
In the return policy they say that there's no international return (which is from CA because they only ship to US and CA). More than that, I went to FAQ section and for some reason it shows a very different logo there, which I find weird & shady AF. But in the there they say that you CAN return internationally so that's some very contradicting info...
If they have a review section, leave a one-star and see how quickly they get back to you. Also don't apologize because it's "not earth-shattering." You spent like you said almost $600CA. That's a big deal whether you can afford it or not.
Say it louder for the people in the back! $600 is $600, that's not a little money. Doesn't matter what amount you've been scammed out of, it's still a scam - get your money back!
When the FedEx lady said “a refund was processed” she was referring to the refund of shipping costs to the shipper. FedEx wouldn’t have any information about the sale or purchase with the company.
I deal with shipping issues (among other things) for my company, and so many people don't understand that the carriers have zero involvement past "take box from point A to point B." They don't know about your transaction with the customer or what they got and they don't care. Their entire job is "take box from point A to point B." Another misconception is the recipient is NOT the "customer" of the shipper, it's the company that sends it.
@@ironwolf56 Exactly. Whomever paid the shipper directly is the customer shipping the item. That is who gets a “refund” from the shipping company and in some cases is the only one that can get any useful information from the shipping company. The shipping co is only held to saying if box is at “point a” or been to delivered to “point b” if you are the “third party” contacting them.
I think she understood that But if they got their shipping refund that means they should refund her She isn’t an idiot She just called fedex to see why she keeps getting a delivered notice if it never left California

"Don't buy from merchants that you don't recognize" is great advice. I used to work in credit card billing disputes for a major bank. Pop up merchant scams are making thousands of dollars from consumers, then when the business is investigated, they change the name, copy a website from another brand, and start scamming again. Banks don't cover scams because it's 'buyer beware,' so a lot of people are stuck with a loss they'll never recover.
@@mashakachan9213 Banks in the US are required to cover fraudulent charges, not scams. They may cover scams at their discretion, but the major company I contracted with did not.
I always pay with Paypal when I'm buying things online for this exact reason - its far easier to open a dispute via Paypal than it is to try and get something out of the company or call the bank. Good on you for putting this out there, and in a very entertaining way too! Companies like this need to be known as scammers.
Me too bought a queen sized blanket from an Instagram ad, they sent me a baby blanket in the wrong color, PayPal had my money for me in 1 day! They are great
you guys make it sound like paypal can even be abused with this if it's that easy... not saying i would, but the devil part of my brain (or the money broke part lol... anyway paypal steal people too sometimes sooooo... okay not a good excuse but still) is going "mmmmmh...."
I have been scammed and clearly showed the product was not like it was advertised and was told I had to spend more money on international shipping to return the crap product back to the sender in order to get my refund. Like why should I have to pay out for someone else's scam!
You got me googling to see if anyone else has had these problems now. I once ordered this really specific cologne that was the company's 20th anniversary. I ordered it from Amazon from a thrid party, and they sent me woman's perfume (It smelled like an old age home). I asked for a refund; would be happy to return product. The company never answered. The next day I gave them a one star review and contacted amazon. In about two hours after contacting Amazon, I had a refund in my bank and the third party contacting me with an email saying, "You have a refund for the product. Can you remove your one star review now?" Like, uh no?
Ah, yes, the power of the one-star review. I needed a return authorization for a pair of shoes. They never responded to any of my messages, and they didn’t have a phone number listed. The situation was resolved very quickly after the one-star review.
Because of that tracking showing the package I would’ve fell for it and thought it was a mistake too. And if I really wanted that outfit I would’ve ordered again.
I love that even in your frustration, you don't make assumptions or bold accusations... you simply state how you feel. Thanks for being a great example!
Okay so I work at a [credit union] and there’s a lot that I’ve learned from that. One thing that has been so so useful to know is that it’s MUCH easier to file disputes/get refunded from scams when you use a credit card vs a debit card. Just a tip for us internet shoppers. Stay safe y’all!
@@KawaiiKermit there are all different kinds of credit cards that can't actually put you in debt. There are ones you put money on ahead of time. I use one through my bank (Chime) that works exactly like a debit card on my end, but works like a credit card on the merchant's end and reports to the credit bureaus like a credit card. Builds credit with no risk. Do a bit of research and see if that makes sense for you. Besides, Paula was giving a bit of advice that you don't have to take, not assuming everyone has a credit card.
Try doing a reverse image search. This might be one of those scams where “seller” steals images from other companies for the merchandise they claim to sell but never deliver.
I tried, but it seems like the images are their own... I also could not find any bad reviews online, apart from their recent facebook reviews that say that items were never received, or some items missing, bad quality, no customer service etc. Seems like their customer service is just very poor / non-existent.
I tried that in relation to a job offer. A steel company, headquartered in Hong Kong, sent me an email offering to hire me as an accounts receivable agent at a crazy-high salary. I don't have any experience in business or accounting. I looked up their extremely rudimentary website and discovered that many pictures on their website were directly copied from other legitimate companies. It's actually part of a known scam, offering work-from-home jobs at unbelievable salaries, but actually all they do is steal your identity.
I feel that if you had received the jumpsuit, it would NOT have looked like the photo and would turn into one of those "this is what I ordered vs what I got" scenarios. Sorry that happened to you Charlotte! P.S. looks like they've disabled their reviews section on their FB page.
I really wish someone would make a show similar to Catfish but instead of confronting love interests they track down and expose the people responsible for these awful websites that scam and steal from people
We have a tv show like that in Germany. They show mostly tourist traps/scams, but also e.g. craftspeople trying to rip off old ladies etc. It's great :D
"Revenge is a dish served petty" - Charlotte Dobre 🙂 . Poor Theia . They did not know who they were dealing with . Hope they refund the money soon or there will be more videos from a very very disgruntled customer who also happens to be the queen of Potatotopia . 😁
I'd edit mine and say "Seller only willing to engage after posting a negative review and requested that in exchange I remove the negative review. Please note that there are likely more negative reviews that have been deleted!" One of my pet peeves is "Leave us a 5 star review for a free product!" and so many people do it, and it tricks you into thinking they're reputable.
Always check reviews first! (not from their own website). I checked reviews on them after watching this and found their facebook, everyone says it's a scam. Sorry this happened Charlotte, I know it's so frustrating. Good for you to expose them, that's what they deserve!
@@berrypi8865 Their Instagram page either blocks comments or they have deleted all comments. Not a good sign. Probably because so many customers were writing in the comments the Theia is a scam. After having this same issue with a few companies, I finally learned to always use PayPal for any website I don't know. If they don't take PayPal, I won't order. Why? Because PayPal makes sure you get your money back. Including shipping costs.
Yes true if it wasn't for PayPal once I filed the dispute against a light in the Box that was when light in the Box got a hold of me wanted me to drop the dispute and was only going to give me back like three quarters of the money yet I was still out because I had to pay to ship the piece of s*** jacket back. So guess what I got every single sent back which is unusual because a lot of the Facebook posts about light in the Box people didn't get nothing back. I left dozens of emails I'd probably say 30 posts all over there Facebook page with pictures and everything showing what I ordered and what I got and about the lousy crappy ass service. With light in the Box it says it is shipped from the United States which is why I ordered the jacket but if you need to return it you have to return it back to China you have to pay for shipping and you lose that and if for some reason they don't receive it or it gets lost it's not their fault they even put that in there return policy. I wouldn't be surprised if blight in the Box maybe owns that company I don't know or vice versa.
100%. PayPal is one of the best platforms for online shopping as a purchaser. I've had to dispute charges once or twice through them, and the process is so simple and easy
This, always smart to use PayPal in case of, I remember my grandad who isn't tech savvy telling me he ordered something via ebay and when it arrived it wasn't what he wanted & because he hadn't used PayPal the company was refusing to reimburse him. PayPal is just a nice safeguard in case.
This is absolutely the opposite of petty. I’ve seen the Theia brand clothes on Saks Off 5th so I never thought it was fake. That’s just absolutely atrocious customer service! A note to never buy their products 👍
I've started a policy of no matter what I find online and how much I LOVE it I ALWAYS do a quick search to make sure the company is legit b/c this just happens way way way too often! I agree with a lot of the other comments, thank you for putting the companies name in the video instead of dancing around it. It really helps others avoid the same scam. Congrats on the million mark!
The amount of people that went the Facebook page after watching this is a testament as to how much we love Charlotte. But the amount of reviews saying the same thing as far back as 9 months…like how are these people still operating
Getting scammed is always a bummer, but it happens to everyone at some point. Good on you for calling these people out! I always google reviews now for all products, and even NOW, recently I was scammed when I ordered a new motherboard. Sent me a completly different board and seller poofed. Not having resolutions to these situations is flat out painful!
I do not buy anything from China. The Chinese sellers caught onto this. Now so many products are from the USA. Yes it's sent from the USA. But the seller purchases the product from China. I don't like buying from China for safety reasons (they have different quality standards).

My husband just told me a story about when he was a young man and wanted to buy something from a shop that was a little more money than he could get it through the mail. When he mentioned the price difference to the shop owner, the wise old man told him "beware the man who hides behind the postage stamp". He went on to explain that if there was a problem with the product he would make it right immediately, but if he orders from the mail good luck in getting results. Never forget....beware the man who hides behind the postage stamp.
I always ALWAYS check the negative reviews on a retail site regardless of the reputation. A bit of common sense will weed out the grumpy no issue complainers and the idiots who do not understand how it works. Also, if they are being delivered by a disreputable delivery company (I have had nothing but hassle from Hermes) I won't buy from them. A proper negative review can reveal a lot about the item and the company than a good review does. If the reviews are so small that they can be ignored... THEN I look at the best reviews before buying. I hope Theia goes bust
Our family had the same experience with a scooter we ordered for my son. We were literally waiting by the door for this package. Same thing happened as Charlotte; out for delivery, delivered, but not to us. We had to do battle with UPS and then our CC company once we realized we were scammed. Total headache. Thanks for bringing awareness!
I'm sorry that happened to you. As far as scooters go, when I was doing my research for a kick-scooter fI ended up paying the extra money & going with a Segway straight from the factory
This recently happened to me, but it was a storefront on Amazon. Never got the item, tried to contact and the seller was gone from Amazon. I saw others had posted reviews complaining they never got their orders, while waiting for mine to arrive! They set up the shipping to return it to themselves, so they get the money and keep the items. Hope karma sorts them out.
This is why I like to read the reviews before I buy things. Hope Charlotte gets her money back. When she said she ordered a second time I was like nooooooo
@@LynetteTheRogue Some companies use fake reviews and that makes it difficult to know the truth. All reviews of the storefront I used, were positive, until the week where I was waiting for my order to arrive, and others began to post about their orders not showing up ether. I do hope our Potato Queen can get her money back as well though.
Yes. This has been going on for awhile. They don't even TRY to send it to you, but to someone they are in "business" with. No, they won't answer emails. They are hoping you will forget about the package and the purchase. I NEVER click on any ads on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or any other social media site. I will now always go to a store I know and order stuff from there. I have been scammed too many times and in some cases lost money because they either not send it, send it to their friends, or send something that has nothing to do with what I ordered (i.e. toothbrushes instead of a desk water fountain).
When choosing a company to do business with, look at their reviews. Don't just look at the score, but read the reviews. If all of them look pretty much the same, they are fake purchased reviews (which means the entire company has scammy values and should not be trusted). Sometimes someone would rate a computer badly because it "didn't work in the shower". So you gotta actually read the reviews. And look for companies that have lots and lots (thousands) of reviews and have been active for at least a year (most companies go out of business in a year due to bad practices). Getting an automated message is fine, but good companies should get back in touch within 2 or 3 business days. Also, companies that are customer-centric will have multiple ways to get in touch with them and will make it easy to get ahold of a human. If you wanna check the website and see if it's a scam site, check the whois data which will tell you when the site was registered, how etc. Scam sites are like burner phones. They never last more than a few months. Source: 4 year computer technician, 2 year cyber security student.
Part of the problem is they will create fake reviews to make it look legit. The Chinese are good at setting up businesses with websites the never actually send what is ordered or send the lowest quality wrong item. Unfortunately since the country seems to be in bed with the Chinese it will never be fixed. Moral of the Story? DON"T ORDER ONLINE AND BUY IN PERSON.
@@chrish7336 when possible this is great advice. Not just for anti-scam, but also making sure you get what you want. Returns are easier when you're already there too.

I was curious and checked for reviews of Theia and found some on FB up to 2021 everything looked okay, but in August 2021 people started to complain about their lack of customer service, no contact via phone, not answered e-mails and cheaply made dresses for 800$. Their insta looks like the started to specialise in wedding dresses, there are only a handful of pictures from 2022 and most of them are wedding gowns.

I always pay with PayPal when shopping online, they have a 180-day period to dispute the transactions. I've fallen for a few of these online-only stores, but with PayPal, I was able to get my money back. Lesson learned !
I do a ton of eBay, Amazon and Aliexpress shopping - always with Paypal that's linked to a visa card. So I figure I have 2 avenues to start a dispute if I ever need to.
PayPal also has one caveat. I once ordered something from a website thinking I will have PayPal protection. You know what those website people did? They sent me a random cheap object (sunglasses) instead of what (a furniture piece) that I had ordered. And since it showed ‘delivered’ to my address, when I contacted the company they said we can ship it back and they will give us the refund or ‘exchange’. The cost of shipping back to CHINA from US was more than the cost of product and buyer was supposed to handle it. That was their whole scam, to send random products to show delivered at the address. Fortunately I had all the receipts and packaging slips. I sent pictures of everything along with the sunglasses to PayPal customer service (obviously the package in which sunglasses came was very small compared to what any furniture item will fit in). So I was able to get full refund.
Whenever I want to order from a website I've never heard about, I try to remember to check reviews from outside the company's website. But this whole thing is so obnoxious and in essence we shouldn't HAVE to check whether or not we're being scammed. People should just stop scamming other people. Videos like this will save others from having to go through the same thing!!
lol right, people should stop scamming, nobody should be hungry or homeless, wars shouldn't exist anymore... miss universe mentality right there :') i mean you're right, scamming is bad, people shouldn't do it, but come on... you should know it will always exist so we SHOULD always check when unsure
I did take a chance on a dress recently but the Amazon reviews were pretty good and these are bridesmaids dresses so these ladies are ordering a lot of dresses. Amazingly enough the dress got here 3 weeks ahead of schedule and in perfect condition. Even the color. But my daughter ordered online a lot and has a couple of real "wish" type klinkers lol.
The same company on Instagram scammed me! I'm living in Canada currently- I order a lot of jewelry from them and a pair of pin striped high waisted linen pants. Pricing was outrageous. Long story short I went to the exact same process you're going through and ended up having to dispute it but I never heard from them and I never received a direct refund from them nor a reply to any of my emails.
I'm so happy she put this out here because a lot of people are shopping from home and I was going to try a company I did not know but now I change my mind. I'll do a little more investigating on the companies before I give them my card information. Be careful because it's not only older people out here that getting scammed.

A tip for filtering out scammers: What I have used for years to help weed out the scams is looking for the payment affiliation. On any online store that has their sh*t together you should be able to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and find the copyright statement and a visual list of payment affiliations. Usually the logos of PayPal, Mastercard, Visa or local payment companies. THEIA does not have this.
The logos can be downloaded from anywhere. What’s important is if those links that the logos are pointing to are genuine. Like if you click on PayPal at checkout, what’s to stop you from entering your payment info there and be scammed?!?! Looks don’t tell you much. Some very sophisticated websites have scammed people who were taken by aesthetics. I should know. I’m a fraud claim agent at a bank.
@@mariagrace11 I agree, it definitely isn't the end all be all, and it can definitely be faked, but it is something to keep in your arsenal of things to look for. It is pretty much standard that legitemate buisness has the set up I describe so that you know before you start shopping what payment options you have, and a lot of fake buisnesses forget this step.
One of the things I do automatically with the companies that I am thinking of ordering from is check their return policy, their mailing address etc. Sadly, we can get sucked in so easily by some of the ads.
Keep pushing to get your money back! Scammers play dirty, exposing them is the first step. I really hope you manage to get your money back. Scamming our potato queen is disgusting! Love your videos Charlotte, keep them coming!
Thank you for doing this Charlotte. Sometimes sadly these companies only care about people with big flowing when they call them out. My daughter is only 16 but she actually has a pretty decent size audience. Something similar happened to her and I talked her into calling them put publicly. It's not slander if it's true. She got so many comments on how the same company scammed them as well. She tried to get a response without her social media for months, then once she blasted them on social media they get back to her and settled within 48 hours. They asked her to now please take down the complaint. She asked them to look through her comments and respond to her followers as well, then she will take down her public complaint...her complaint is still up. I am not a public person, so these companies rarely listen to us. Thank you for again using your platform for awareness. Much love.
As someone who lives in California I was once getting a quote for something to be shipped to CA except I thought we were talking about California (CA) while the vendor thought we were talking about Canada (CA). I wonder if a similar mix up happened here? That does not justify their lack of response tho.
Wow I googled the brand and unless another company has the exact same name, their clothing is sold in Neiman Marcus and Saks. If it was me, I would've felt comfortable buying from their website. So ridiculous. I had a brand do basically the same thing to me and they never responded to any of my emails. It was a well known brand too! I was raging.
I had this happen to me with an online prescription order for contacts. I never received a refund and reported them to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and filed a fraud claim. Also filed for a for a refund at the bank. My mother also had the same issue, not knowing I placed an order the day before her. Some companies scam people.
Thank you Charlotte you've saved alot of people from being scammed. They are being bombarded with our support for you so hopefully they get shut down xx
I purchased a $200 perfume for my mum and they emailed me two days later saying they were out of stock they asked if I wanted to wait or get a refund.. at that point I was happy to wait for it but after a month of no update on the processing, I emailed them again and they never responded to me at all. Found the same one for half the cost in a nice store. She loved it 💚
I personally believe that regardless of your world's ranking (1st, 3rd, or the mysterious 2nd) you have every right to be upset when someone does you dirty. EDIT: For the record, I do understand what the designations mean, it was a joke and not meant to be a TED talk about worlds and their rankings It's just hilarious to me the term "third world" as if people living in countries that are not so developed as "1st worlds" are on some distant planet and as if their economies haven't been *decimated* by the so-called "1st worlds" that labeled them such. There. You wanted a TED talk, you got one. (bow)
I've always wondered which countries classify as "2nd world". I'm going to say it's just Canada, otherwise they'd get shipped to like the US and Europe. Lol 😂😆
@@ophilianecr it's not a clear classification just something some Europeans came up with to classify the world ,also they used mostly first and third not as much the second for example the UAE is pretty developed but it's part of the "middle east" that was classified before as third world
Thank you for posting this. You have a lot of American subscribers who, I'm sure, are grateful to know this information. I really don't order clothing much online (except for only certain brands off poshmark and maybe amazon), since I make a lot of my own clothes. But now I know a site to avoid all together. I get that some companies don't do international orders. As someone who owns an Etsy shop, I no longer do overseas shipping, as the fees have increased massively since I first started, and some countries have started adding on extra taxes upon pick-up or delivery to the buyer. While I don't normally ship overseas, I have made the occasional exception the very rare case. I would have been happy to do this for you. Plus, you would have been working with an actual person, not automated responses. Thank you for always making such great content. We may have lost Naked Man, but the high quality of the videos continues.
It really annoys me when companies do this & I'm so sorry you had to go through all that Charlotte. I've got 1 rule for online shopping now, if they don't have any reviews/feedback/pics on the items, I don't buy it. You can't trust anyone these days, especially when there's so many scams going around.
I got scammed from a website that had a ton of positive reviews. I went back to reread the reviews and they sounded very similar and were riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes. I got my money back within about 20 mins from my credit card. Don’t know if they were a well known scam site or my cc company is lightning fast. Pay with a credit card, stick with companies you’ve heard of or buy something inexpensive first. Look at the dates of the reviews, are they all recent? Check their address and call customer service with some made up question to see if anyone answers or returns your call.
@@lollylolly8186 Yes! After shopping online for many years, you really pick up what to look out for, especially when it comes to the reviews & how they are written, the spelling & who they are even written by. When you're spending money for a business, you have to think smart!
@@smsh0 It also comes down to what type of item you're buying, which country you live in & also are they a new company just starting out. It always pays to do a bit of background work for sure, even send them an email, if they don't reply within a few days, you know that's not great customer service to start off with & not somewhere you'd want to spend your hard earned money. 😉
Your jumpsuit story sounds so much like what happened with me buying my wedding dress. I found my dream dress (only online unfortunately). My mom was sweet and ordered it for me. Everything was confirmed and when we went to track it there was no information and the original website had disappeared over night. I ended up finding another dress that was close and everything worked out but my mom and I were ticked! I’m just glad I don’t have super expensive taste and I think even with the original dress it all came out to less than $250/$300.
I’m so sorry that happened to you, Miss Charlotte. You looked great at your party tho! One never would have guessed that you had to endure all of that behind the scenes. Thanks for sharing and name dropping.
@@shelbybartee2994 they may have been first world problems (as she stated) but I’ve seen enough Bridezilla content (on this channel no less) to know that it can cause chaos and meltdowns and to be confident in my use of that term. 😉😂🤣 I rather enjoy the hyperbolic reference as even Miss Charlotte said it was no big deal.
Thank you telling us about this! I will make sure I look at reviews, if there’s none- scam, if there’s a couple- scam. I don’t trust many sites because I’m so scared of this happening to me😅
This is why I'm so careful online nowadays. I check reviews, background research the company, I go through the works lol because it's so easy to be scammed online. Sorry you had to deal with that Charlotte but you'd look beautiful in whatever you chose to wear and I'm glad at least that you found a great outfit for the event, keep slayin' queen 🥰
This reminds me of the scam I was out for a few months back. I found a gorgeous shoulder bag I wanted and a few weeks later I saw it was delivered to a company adress in a completely different city I contacted the merchant (from a different email since their referred email had conveniently been deactivated) and then received a mass email (sent to me and like 50+ other people) with a "we'll send you a new thing!" Never heard anything from them again, and the website has mysteriously disappeared 🙃
Thank you for sharing your experience Charlotte! Seriously! This site has been popping up as ads for me lately and I was contemplating ordering from them my elopement dress. Definitely not purchasing from them now.
I love your videos, Charlotte. Just one thing though. If it were me, and I was scammed, I wouldn't have done a repeat purchase. It doesn't make sense to order an item a second time if you didn't get it the first time. My scammer radar would have already been off the charts.
"And when I am disgruntled, I make UA-cam videos." LMAO Charlotte you're a Legend! Sorry they screwed you over, hope all gets resolved. And you looked like a star at your party!!
I had to go to a black tie wedding in June and I almost ordered an outfit from them! So glad I didn’t now! Sorry this happened to you. Ugh so frustrating!
yeah, you are right, those are first worl problems but those are still problems and just because other people have „real problems to solve“ doesnt mean that we arent allowed to be pissed when things like that happen. its annyoing, time consuming and stressful so its okay to be annoyed and its also ok to talk about it and complain
I've learned that whenever I want to attempt ordering from a risky website I not only use my credit card card I reverse image search the photos to see if they are just stock/exist on other websites. And then I go to the BBB website to see if they're rated
I definitely appreciate you telling your story. You have the money, thankfully, but not everyone else does. You're saving others from this! Love you Dobre!
Honestly, public shaming is the best course of action for these dill holes. I had a similar experience where I ordered stuff and it never came and received no refund. The difference was the owner contacted me and kept telling me at the end of this week I'd get a refund. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but that lead me to multiple emails over the course of 3 months of them sending nothing. I left a google review explaining the situation. Within minutes got an angry email stating I'm a terrible person, I'm damaging their reputation etc etc. I told them I'd take down the review if THEY PAID ME BACK. They did within the hour so I took the review down. Even mousey girls like me have a bit of a bite.
Same thing happened to me. The moment I posted a bad review they responded pretty quick and said they would send the item to me and they did. If I hadn’t complained I’m sure they would have kept ignoring me
I just looked up the company on Google and they have absolutely no reviews or officially verified platform. I can believe there are people out there that do this kind of thing. Thank you for letting us know what kind of company this potentially is
I just checked out their site as well. No 'About Us" page, no customer reviews and a FAQ link the leads to a dead page that states the site is not open to public.
One reason I no longer.make any online purchases unless I can pay with PayPal. Had a bait and switch scam happen once and luckily my bank was awesome about it and refunded me fully. Also, always check the copyright year at the bottom of the website. If it's not at least a year old that's a major red flag.
Wow, just wow. That story about you being scammed not once but twice by the same buyer is insane. The fact that they never gave you your money back is awful.
This is actually a real brand that has been around for some time, though I mostly remember it being sold through Neiman Marcus or Saks. It is ridiculous that you never even received a response, but those expensive brands are not all transitioning well to e-commerce and it shows in situations like this.
It is not a copycat site - the parent brand website JS Group links to the same website that is linked via online shopping targeted ads. It appears to be simply a very poorly run business, as the parent company claims only 13 regular employees. It's sad, but very possible that this wasn't an intentional scam but a case of an e-commerce site being badly managed. It's likely they are shipping directly out of a warehouse, and don't even have anyone handling customer service or refunds that aren't sent through the form on their website.
Girl you’re not even petty, this would piss me off. I wouldn’t even email them a second time what I do is dispute the charge straight away. PS: congratulations on reaching a million subs! Love your channel 🥳

As soon as the first package failed to arrive and they failed to respond to you within a week, I would have immediately called the credit card company. If any business does not get back to you in a timely fashion after one point of contact, they are sus.
Same.
Yeah, pretty much this.
Oh that makes sense, this company is definitely scamming.
I was wondering how FedEx would know if there was a refund on the item... refund for shipping makes sense.
That’s what I was gonna say. As someone that corrects shipping packages.
The image for the jumpsuit that Charlotte “bought” is the same image from Poshmark.
At least rule number 2, don’t do it twice lol
Such a pain. That orange jumpsuit would've look great on you!😑
I would say the first rule is, don't order anything online from a site or brand you don't recognize. EVER.
Everybody should pay close attention to how Charlotte handled this problem: she documented everything, and was courteous and accurate and just plain classy in all her written communications. That’s how you get refunds through credit card disputes. Good for you Charlotte - these scammers are going to realise they messed with the wrong lady.
I agree except I'd have never ordered a second time from them I'm not saying anything rude towards her just saying
I would have also included in my final email, "If I do not receive a response by [XX/XX Date], I will be filing a chargeback with my credit card company."
Generally, chargebacks hurt companies and they don't want them on their record.
I worked in claims and disputes for years and YES, Charlotte handled this perfectly !!!
My three tips for spotting these scammers:
1) Always look for an “about us” section and try to find the headquarters.
Thank you so much this is great information😃
Yes, if the company doesn't show their address, buyer beware! Theia does NOT show their address anywhere on their site. Also, because I'm sneaky-petty, I use Google Earth to check that a sus company's address is legit. Sometimes it's a rando house in the middle of nowhere !😡

Found this as well. But to be honest: do you always look for the terms of service website at a decent looking page?
The company is a scam. best to report them.
Lmao I just saw that! Did their site also say something about them being worn by the likes of the Kardashians and stuff lmaooo 🤣🤣🤣
Oh we all left one star hahaha
What a great idea! Ms. Charlotte has 1M subscribers.(insert evil laugh here) Do you think we could ALL leave a review??!

If I don't know a company, I first check scam/review websites, to see if they are on the up and up.

Oooh thanks for the tip! Credit online from now on!
Not everyone has a credit card. Especially if you’re young, we stay away from them because we don’t need credit card debt that we can’t pay off.

@@ghostly.creature reviews are how I tell if a place is real or scammers
I tried that in relation to a job offer. A steel company, headquartered in Hong Kong, sent me an email offering to hire me as an accounts receivable agent at a crazy-high salary. I don't have any experience in business or accounting. I looked up their extremely rudimentary website and discovered that many pictures on their website were directly copied from other legitimate companies. It's actually part of a known scam, offering work-from-home jobs at unbelievable salaries, but actually all they do is steal your identity.
@@ghostly.creature exactly. Their management company's Glassdoor reviews are embarrassing.

P.S. looks like they've disabled their reviews section on their FB page.

My brain tripped so hard over the pronunciation of Potatotopia. 🤪
No "poor Theia" they're scammers. Yes, sarcasm was used in OP. I know. I'm just mad at this shitty scam.
Yep. I just dropped a message on their site.

Except they are legit and have celebrities who wear their clothing...

After having this same issue with a few companies, I finally learned to always use PayPal for any website I don't know. If they don't take PayPal, I won't order. Why? Because PayPal makes sure you get your money back. Including shipping costs.
same same
Yes true if it wasn't for PayPal once I filed the dispute against a light in the Box that was when light in the Box got a hold of me wanted me to drop the dispute and was only going to give me back like three quarters of the money yet I was still out because I had to pay to ship the piece of s*** jacket back.
Me, too 🤷🏼♀️
This, always smart to use PayPal in case of, I remember my grandad who isn't tech savvy telling me he ordered something via ebay and when it arrived it wasn't what he wanted & because he hadn't used PayPal the company was refusing to reimburse him.
Start reporting the page to FB, they shut off comments and reviews

How do we check the whois data?
who.is
Part of the problem is they will create fake reviews to make it look legit.

Same! It only happened once Thank you for the tips! I got scammed but luckily I was able to get all of my money back.
Videos like this will save others from having to go through the same thing!!

i mean you're right, scamming is bad, people shouldn't do it, but come on... you should know it will always exist so we SHOULD always check when unsure
Just another reason why I never order clothes online. It's almost always overpriced, poor quality crap, delivered slowly, with too much packaging.

Love the raw human energy of this. You have been nicer than I would be.

When going through my gallery I will read over and over so I won't forget.
Just looked at their website, and yes they do have paypal, etc.
The logos can be downloaded from anywhere. What’s important is if those links that the logos are pointing to are genuine. Like if you click on PayPal at checkout, what’s to stop you from entering your payment info there and be scammed?!?!

I've got 1 rule for online shopping now, if they don't have any reviews/feedback/pics on the items, I don't buy it. You can't trust anyone these days, especially when there's so many scams going around.

Pay with a credit card, stick with companies you’ve heard of or buy something inexpensive first. Look at the dates of the reviews, are they all recent? Check their address and call customer service with some made up question to see if anyone answers or returns your call.

And then I go to the BBB website to see if they're rated
according to their website they DO ship to Canada, so they're definitely scamming you
I came her to say the same thing. I agree It’s more proof the company are scammers.
3 MONTHS! omg what did they expect you to do, so frustrating.
Same thing happened to me. The moment I posted a bad review they responded pretty quick and said they would send the item to me and they did. If I hadn’t complained I’m sure they would have kept ignoring me
I would've waited 3 months to take it down.
@@sailuna9195 They probably wanted me to forget about it and let them keep the money.
@@wuramkesvfx Exactly. Glad you got your $$ back!
It is possible, that the scam site just copied the actual brand, thus making it easier for the customers to fall as they trust the company.
I think it’s a scam! I was shopping at a furniture site (which was a fake one) here in Japan and they copied the real one to the minor detail
@@rockermystic valid point! But how do you know the site she accessed is the same one you did though?
Girl you’re not even petty, this would piss me off. I wouldn’t even email them a second time what I do is dispute the charge straight away.
