  • Welcome to my channel!
Today we are pulling apart my 1981 Honda Silverwing. We will be removing the seat, rear fender, battery, and air box. Stay tuned for later videos as we continue to work on the electrical wiring, seat mounting, and fabrication work.

Thanks for this. Quite new to working on bikes but this is very useful for understanding my new (to me) '82 GL500 interstate.

Nice video. I'm starting my 81 gl500i to cafe/brat build right now too.

Another ruined GL500 Custom. It is getting harder to find an original bike and prices are going up very quickly. Need to buy one now before the youngsters with angle grinders destroy all of them.

Totally objective man. I’ve ridden the heck out of this bike and saved it from certain scrap. So call it what you will, but the soul of the bike is still on the road and being enjoyed.
If you’re such a vintage Honda enthusiast, just buy one. If a “youngster with an angle grinder” can afford one, I’m sure you can too!
      Happy riding!

General consensus seems to be: better on the road modified than rotting in a barn stock! The GL500 isn’t anything to write home about either, I rode it stock for a while.
