Goddaaaamn. Thank you so much for making this video. I had totally forgot it existed. I hadn’t watched this in 8 years or more until today. I heard the JVMcM song yesterday and I was hit with a sudden feeling... why do I remember this song in such an emotional way? Images came flooding back. For a period of time around 2011/20012 I used to watch this video almost every day. I was in college in Limerick, Ireland and I was flirting with the idea of dropping everything and starting over again in New York. I was very depressed at the time and dealing with heavy anxiety. I’d get a brief reprieve watching this in the computer room of LSAD tho. It filled me with so much hope. It’s been years since I last watched this. And now, here I am nearly a decade later, with my green card, living in The Bronx in New York. Thank you for the added motivation this video gave me. Im so glad I came here. Being here so long now I sometimes forget the magic of this place. It can be an exhausting place. It tests you. But man, watching this again just reminded me that the magic is always there if you just stop and look. And breathe. I’ll keep that in the forefront, thanks. Peace!
Whenever I start feeling doubt that my dream of living and working in New York is stupid or unrealistic, I watch this video and just like that i'm back grinding to find my way there. Thank you
I visit NYC every month. This is an older video. But I can say, the imagery is of the best parts of the city. The people, the places, all the imperfections. All of it. We are all imperfect, as is the city. But the city projects. As do our memories and relationships with it. So good, bad, or indifferent. It goes on, so must we all, against, with, beside it. We all must go on. Live, love and be free. Or die young. There is no other way to be truly alive or truthful to liberty itself.
Thank you so much for this video Andrew. I was a young Scottish lad in my teens watching this from a single parent household in a council estate, only imagining what it would be like to go to New York. I was a fan of James Vincent McMorrow before this video so this was an added bonus for me and added to the magic. Finally in 2016 I got to finally visit NYC for three weeks and it was exactly how this video made me feel, the thing that made it even more magical was the fact my brother (who lives in NYC now) got us tickets to see James Vincent McMorrow at Webster Hall. When he started playing We Dont Eat I burst into tears, it may sound dramatic to some but to me it was such a special moment in my life. I hold NYC very close to my heart and have now been three times for extended periods of time. Again, thank you so much for this video Andrew - it kept me going!
This video always makes me cry everytime I see it. New York, wheter if it´s a dream or a reality, for a lot of people around the world is a place in their destiny.
I was born and raised in New York City, and since going to college, have been missing NYC too much. I watch this whenever I miss the big apple, thank you so much for creating this masterpiece! :)
I've been to New York only once. I stayed there for a week, and I just couldn't forget my time there. It was such an awesome city full of energy and beauty. Thanks for arousing my memories in this magnificent city.
Used to watch this video every other month in college. Now I'm coming up on 2 years in New York. It's certainly not been as pretty as this video some times if not most times, but looking back it's still one of the best things that have ever happened to me. Rewatching this video now to remind myself of all the good that comes from living here. Crazy how life changes.
Back again. Crazy how this video inspired me to come to the city. Coming up on 4 years in the city now and watching it again is different every time: I notice more. For example, guessing you live/lived in Astoria (like I do now) from the stations you chose and the park footage. Love coming back to this video. Reminds me of what made me fall in love with this place.
I think I watched this video for the first time about 3 years ago. It gave me a weird feeling that I'd never felt before. I returned to it every now an again. 3 months ago I met the girl of my dreams and we a re very happy together. It's only now that I realise that this video truly captures the feeling of Love. What it's like to see nothing but the good in people and in the world and really be at peace with yourself. This is a very powerful video and I hope people embrace what it teaches Thank you
I keep coming back to this video. The song connects with the video so well. Hopefully I will be able to visit this city someday, and then I will play this song!
I've been here in NYC since 1978. Your video and this track are a perfect match. It gave me lump in my throat and brought a tear to my eye. Great work!
I first watched this video in 2011 and it inspired me to do so much with my life... I have done so much in the last five years, but coming back to this now and realising how much of an impact it still has on me was so humbling. You really did inspire my love of capturing things on film and helped me to realise how much of an impact song choice makes. This is still by far my favourite video, thank you for changing my life for the better.
This is a very beautiful video. I'm only 16 but its been my dream to go and just live in this city for a while now. Seeing this was just, Wow. I'm excited to hopefully, with God's help, to be able to step foot in this city and see and live everything New York has to offer.
This video is legendary, so sooo beautiful! I discovered it a few years ago on Vimeo under Staff Picks and I watch it every November ever since. I simply love this timeless piece of artwork. Thank you for this 🙏
I knew the artist's voice was familiar. looked at the 'about' section and saw James Vincent McMorrow! I knew id heard it before. such a nice song! and what a beautiful video! makes me want to go to New York even more now! thanks for sharing!
Really moving. Awesome editing. Lived in NY for 6 six before moving back to Ireland, but I put this on whenever I need to remind me of all the good things the city has to offer. Thank you.
I watched this video 3 years ago, my plan was to live in NY, but instead I stared a family and live in Las Vegas, but I always find myself going to back this beautiful video. My dream place. Nothing can compare. One day New York!
Its a perfect combination between the city, the music , everything , i just got back from NYC to Europe and i've watched this video like 1000 times , its totally bringing me back with memories in NYC, its just perfect, thank you about this video , its just perfect!
Thank you, Andrew, for creating this video. I saw it on a Virgin America flight through the Boing Boing channel yesterday and was emotionally moved by it. I visited NY earlier this year and fell in love with the city! I am even more motivated now to move there to live the life I've imagined -- exactly what you depicted here. Thank you!!!
I've been watching this for 4 years and come back to it each time I need to be reminded what I'm working for. You just manage to completely capture ny and I love it
This is the most beautiful video I've ever seen. Edit (2022): I am still in love New York, been there a few times, since my last comment. Eventhough my perspective changed a bit.
Such a fantastic video Andy, you've done an amazing job capturing the sense of the place, particularly the people of NY. It will always be a special place for me as I proposed to my girlfriend in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Not only that but my brothers and sisters and I sent my mum and dad to NY for their 40th wedding anniversary last year, it was they're first time in the States and they told us it was the trip of lifetime. Unfortunately my dad passed away in June from cancer, watching the video, I can just imagine him strolling down 5th Av with my mum, in awe at all going on around him. Thanks for being so creative and producing something which has clearly touched a lot of people. Sean C (Ireland).
Hi Sean, I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. The trip your family got your parents sounds so special, I'm glad they got to experience what you and your girlfriend did. Thanks for the nice comment, I hope things are going good for you. All the best, Andy.
Hey man, been there back at 2010 and it's definitely the city you fall in love with. I'm here in New Zealand right now but I have my hopes up getting back there. Every time I miss the big apple, I turn to watch your video and I get teary-eyed. New York City, beautiful as ever! Thank you so much!
I heard James Vincent McMorrow on Rdio this morning and it brought this superb video right back to my mind. I've just checked it out again and can't believe it's just 6 months since it was posted, it felt like I was visiting a much longer lost friend! The skateboarding fail and the ensuing reaction's still my favourite part. A lovely piece of work and the euphoria that coincides with the song's bridge is tangible. Thanks. Again! :)
I recently got into a college in the city. It has always been my dream to live there, and watching this video literally made me smile the entire time. Thank you, this was such a great video.
Dylan Striken Go for it, bro! I cannot explain the energy this city gives off. Just a few friendly tips, AVOID The Bronx until you get your "sea legs", There is no shame living in Staten Island if you absolutely have to save money, and use the restroom before going out because the city doesn't have that much public restrooms
Dylan Striken I'd say go with Williamsburg in Brooklyn. It's literally just across the Lower East side, and your $1600 would buy you more room there, or you could always get a roomate (I wouldn't recommend it). And don't be afraid to just ask the people if you get lost, bro. I was pleasantly surprised how friendly the natives were when I first moved here a couple of years ago. Plus you got a British accent, that already is an advantage!
You perfectly captured my subway ride and taxi ride from my job in Murray Hill back home to Astoria. MoMA P.S. 1, the Queensboro Bridge, Silvercup... thank you!
5 awesome minutes of New York, my old home town........yet no image of the Brooklyn Bridge, a most recognizable and iconic image, especially when the New York skyline is included in the background.
I traveled to NYC early 2012, i remember watching this video before i went and hoped NYC was like this, and it was! One of the most amazing cities I've been to.
12 years and still I'm here watching this video over and over again
Me too. I remember watching this as a teen and now I'm 26 years old and still in love with this video
Goddaaaamn. Thank you so much for making this video. I had totally forgot it existed. I hadn’t watched this in 8 years or more until today. Went on a UA-cam bender of old gems and this came to mind. Still one of my fave uploads on entire platform!

Thank you Julio, well said
I thought I was the only one. I love this city and I have never stepped foot there yet. It's been calling me since a child.
It brings me back there each time I watch this video. Fantastic work!
Thank you!
Living in New York you don't really realize how amazing it is until someone captures it on film like you did. Hats off, this is a work of art.
This is without a doubt my favourite video on UA-cam - it gets me EVERY time! More people should know about this.
I was born and raised in New York City, and since going to college, have been missing NYC too much. I watch this whenever I miss the big apple, thank you so much for creating this masterpiece! :)

Thanks for saying so Ola!
Back again. Crazy how this video inspired me to come to the city. Coming up on 4 years in the city now and watching it again is different every time: I notice more. For example, guessing you live/lived in Astoria (like I do now) from the stations you chose and the park footage.

뉴욕 떠나기 전 우연히 본 이 영상도 벌써 12년이나 지났습니다. 나의 추억과 많이 겹쳐 있는 이 영상을 계속 볼 수 있게 해줘서 고맙습니다. 너무 그립네요.

I want to visit the city with my large family , is it really like what they say ( a week is enough for new york ) ? i was thinking to spend a month
infinitiy Three weeks bro, and if you're looking to save cash, don't stay in Manhattan. Stay in Brooklyn, in Williamsburg or in Queens.
Dylan Striken Go for it, bro! I cannot explain the energy this city gives off.
